  1. Have you actually seen this car and verified that it does exist…? 😳
  2. How come they had it in the first place? Dealers can't order the VRS for stock or demo, so was it a cancelled order or something? Really can't believe someone rejected it for that reason!
  3. So you have the winter pack (I assume you also have the heated windscreen button - middle/fan dial in the a/c controls, one of the buttons on there?)... just without heated rear seats. Now it all depends on how much you love your passengers and whether or not it is that big a deal. You'll still be wanting a refund/compensation from the dealer, of course... but for me I really can't imagine rejecting the car over that, especially with how long it would probably be before a replacement turned up.
  4. Yes they are. Do you have the heated steering wheel then? There's a button on the wheel itself (left side, top right) for that.
  5. On the left is the back of a cap I ordered… and on the right is the back of the aero trim.
  6. Yes, that's correct - but there appears to be something different about the middle of these wheels. The caps I bought (admittedly 3rd party) won't clip into the wheels because there's no groove for them to do so. I'm assuming that's how it normally works - honestly have never taken the caps off wheels before!
  7. Nothing new there. I wouldn't disagree with you. But then I didn't actually say anything about the quality of the work undertaken - just that the cost of using someone with a dust-free facility would be more than using someone like ChipsAway. I note that you didn't actually disagree with that point... you simply made your own about quality of work. Not sure why that means I'm talking nonsense, however.
  8. If they're anything like my dog, I wouldn't want the hair stuck in with the paint 🤦‍♂️. Anyway, my comment was based on 'proper paint shop' being somewhere with a dust-free environment, given the context in the post I replied to. Using a facility like that would be considerably more expensive, I don't think that can be argued against.
  9. They're all franchises - so yes, completely depends on where/who. The one local to me is very good, in my opinion. As for a 'proper paintshop' - for larger repairs, maybe... but for small scratches and chips, that's going to be a very expensive way of sorting it out.
  10. Just take it to ChipsAway or similar... I've tried touching up car paint in the past and it's just not worth the time or effort.
  11. Couldn't agree more. I have never put more than the deposit required by the dealer to place the order into a car before now, and I've never kept a PCP car beyond the end of the term. Yes, I could have leased, but I find by the time you dial up the mileage to something realistic, it's never that much cheaper on the cars I've wanted. That combined with the stringent conditions about what you can/cannot do and condition on return etc have always put me off. (If you chase the deals and go with whatever is on offer, I agree that leasing can be a lot cheaper sometimes). So I've never factored into my equations the cost of buying the car at the end... therefore higher GMFVs are always a benefit. I returned the Octavia VRS I had to VWFS as there was no equity in it and I could get a better deal on the next one without p/x'ing it. The difference this time is that I put all the equity from the old Kodiaq - thanks to the craziness at the moment - into the new one in order to reduce the monthly payment. I figured it was a one-time chance to get myself the Kodiaq I really wanted, especially as it will almost certainly be the last non-electric car I own. If I lose all of that at the end of the deal, then it doesn't matter because I wasn't expecting it in the first place. And if I do decide to keep it, then it's effectively a big discount on the total I will have paid for it overall. You can see why this is so popular though - especially now everything is subscription based, from your TV to your music to your fitness to... well, everything. It's fixed cost motoring (except for fuel). The downside for the consumer, and upside for the dealers/manufacturers, is that there is no negotiating to be done... no discounts off list price or deposit contributions or low-rate finance or anything like that. I'm sure there will be 'offers' where they discount the subscription cost for different models depending on what they have lots of stock of, but as nowhere has stock of anything at the moment...
  12. The rear wiper on the pre-facelift Kodiaq is notorious for being useless. Mine juddered from start to end, but I didn't bother replacing it in 3.5 years and it didn't fail the MoT it had... Touch wood... the one on the new bear seems to be a lot better. Don't know if the rear window has changed (doubt it) or if its a different wiper. As for the subject - there are plenty of other threads with similar complaints, so I'd stick to your guns.
  13. You need a new dealer. Or a time machine to take you back to the start of July. Or both. There are, for obvious reasons, absolutely no discounts to be had now. But thanks to the GMFV on the Kodiaq vs the Octavia, the discount the dealer did for me, and the deposit allowance, it's absolutely bonkers the way it worked out. Adding in the stupidly high amount of equity that I had with the p/x thanks to crazy used prices, and the monthly cost for this £48k car is the same as I was paying for the £32k Edition I had previously. Unfortunately, that massive 'deposit' that I put in will - I'm sure - have disappeared almost completely by the end of the PCP deal.
  14. Not really 'first look'... there have been videos out for ages. And there's one on my drive too 😁.
  15. Unless you ordered a white one, it's doubtful. 🤣
  16. I had the exact same thoughts before I went and collected mine...
  17. If that's the case, then surely it should be built and awaiting transport... can the dealer not confirm that much, at least?
  18. Oh, that's a pretty funny bug. Pretty sure it didn't happen in the old Kodiaq with MIB2... I'll try it out this afternoon in the new one and see what happens.
  19. No... and if that was the case, surely all the directions would be wrong? For example, it shows the correct way (clockwise) around a roundabout. It's just this one particular thing that's wrong. Anyway, found someone on a T-Roc forum moaning about the same thing - sounds like CarPlay passes the metadata to the car, which then display the native direction arrows (CarPlay also supports using the virtual cockpit as a second display, but VAG cars don't support this). So either CarPlay is passing the wrong metadata for this one use-case, or the MIB is translating it incorrectly - again, just for this one use-case.
  20. Ok, so after a lot more investigation and trials... this definitely seems to be a CarPlay issue. The arrows all point in the correct direction when using the built-in nav, but the issue persists when using CarPlay - and the only time it happens is for 'exit onto slip road' type directions (i.e. when leaving a motorway or dual-carriageway). Unfortunately, I have no other car to test it with... but I suspect a possible iOS15 bug. Would be interested to hear if anyone else is seeing the same thing with CarPlay on other vehicles - those with MIB2 perhaps?
  21. Spare wheel is now standard in all 7 seat Kodiaqs, including the VRS. They have to give people some reason to still buy VWs... after all, if you could get exactly the same thing with a Skoda badge, no-one would buy a VW ever again 🤣. I'm still yet to even remotely push the boundaries of performance in mine, preferring to take care of it as I plan on keeping this for a long time (quite probably the last ICE car I ever buy). Having said that, it's quiet (as long as you turn the stupid sound generator off) and very refined. The combination of engine and gearbox seems to be perfect for both motorway journeys and around town - compared to the Edition (1.4TSI 150) I had before, it's so much better. For example, it's a lot smoother when starting off from lights, there's no jerk as the auto-hold releases and 1st gear engages like there was in my old one. Just don't go expecting much in the way of economical running from it - it's steadily getting better as things settle down, but I'm current getting about 25mpg around town and 32mpg on the motorway... driving like a nun and only doing 65mph! Used to get 45mpg in the Edition on an average motorway run... pushing 50mpg on a really good one. Yup, this is what my dealer told me too. I ordered it 'blind' right at the start of July as I'd already decided and there was no chance of there being any to look at / drive... as it turns out, pretty sure I've ended up with one of the first into the country. For me, it came down to the cost. I considered going with an Enyaq, but lack of any discount or incentives ruled that out. And the Kodiaq VRS also came out cheaper per month than an Octavia VRS iV estate. Yes, running costs aren't the best, but I work from home so I don't actually do that many miles... it's a glorified taxi for the kids and the dog really 🤦‍♂️.
  22. I'd argue it would be near on impossible if you didn't do that, from looking at your pictures... Anyway, hope you're feeling better now - and good write-up!
  23. Unfortunately, it’s not quite as clear cut as it was when the Kodiaq was first launched. I’d agree it’s still difficult to find better… but the cost has gone up by a not insignificant amount and it feels like the base specification on some trims isn’t as generous as it once was.
  24. I'd be 'negotiating' with your dealer on that one... your Superb will have gone up in value since you agreed the p/x in July. That's what I did, and I got more cash out of him for my old Kodiaq - we took the agreed p/x figure from July, took the value now, and split the difference (on the basis that if I did the deal now, I'd not get the discount they gave me on the new one).
