  1. Where did you get the car from? Any idea about previous owner(s)? If it was a demo/rental/courtesy car, then chances are it hasn't had the care and love when being driven that other cars get!
  2. I'm curious... how much did all that cost you? Don't get me wrong - I'm exactly the same with my bike, I buy parts + tools and service / maintain / fix it myself rather than take it to a bike shop. But it's very rarely the parts that are the expensive bit, it's the labour. I reckon the amount of time it takes me to do a full service on my bike would make it somewhat impractical to run a business doing it... I'd have to charge half the cost of a decent bike each time 🤦‍♂️.
  3. You're assuming that it's broken, rather than taken down intentionally due to the fact that information on it cannot be relied upon at the moment. I'm not sure Skoda could handle this any better - they are providing as much information as they can, but they just don't know when they will be able to deliver cars because of reasons that are completely outside their control. The absolute worst thing that they could do is promise to have everyone's cars ready by a certain date, and then not meet that date... or the next date they give... and so on. If you don't like the uncertainty or need to have a car in a certain timeframe, then unfortunately a factory order from any manufacturer probably isn't the best idea right now.
  4. Thanks both... I was leaning towards the TransK9 so have ordered one.
  5. It sounds like they're saying "we won't start building any more cars, but we hope to finish off the ones that we have already started and clear the backlog". I hope that's the case, and I hope mine has started production. I feel sorry for everyone who is going to be waiting even longer though... Ford are taking a novel approach - they've released versions of the Puma that have less standard kit (quite a bit of missing safety tech as well as comfort stuff), therefore use less microprocessors, therefore you can have it quicker. I guess that's one way to go if you don't care about that stuff and want/need a new car quickly.
  6. I know this is something that has been asked before... but things change, so I thought it might be worth asking anyway to see what current opinion is. So far I've narrowed it down to the MIM VarioCage Single or the TransK9 B23. Any recommendations for either? Or another option I may have missed? Not interested in using a guard as I can't give our hound free range in the boot.
  7. Yeah, 1 brolly as standard now. And door protectors are part of the family pack instead of standard kit... Not so simply clever anymore - but still a lot better value than others.
  8. No. You can get your car serviced anywhere as long as the technicians are appropriately trained and use OEM or equivalent parts. EDIT: the problem is that only Skoda garages can update the electronic service book / reset the service schedule. I took my old Octavia to a VW garage for its last service, and even they couldn't do it (fortunately the Skoda garage from the same group were willing to do it the day after when I realised...).
  9. Yeah... my dealer has gone conspicuously quiet since the supposed 'build week' went by. I don't know whether that means it's half-built and awaiting electronics, or not even started yet. I really don't mind all that much as I'm in no massive rush (as long as I get it before March when my PCP runs out), but I'm beginning to see a few facelift Kodiaqs around here now and it's making me just a wee bit jealous!
  10. As long as that hasn't changed, simply put the seat in the desired position, press and hold the set button for a couple of seconds, then press the '2' button (or whichever memory you wish to set).
  11. To be fair, that part is a should and not a must - so it's not actually breaking the law. But I do agree that the lights should go out once you take your foot off the brake pedal, even if autohold is turned on.
  12. I'm not 12, but I have the skills (and hammer) to disable the Kodiaq brake lights, albeit in a more... permanent manner 😛.
  13. Nothing I said was fantasy, and I didn't say anything about enforcement of the law or anything else. I simply stated that it's illegal to have something that warns you about the location of speed cameras. Is that incorrect?
  14. Just be careful - it is illegal in France to have something that tells you where speed cameras are... not just radar detectors, but SatNavs with warnings also count. Might be your 10 year old Garmin has that and you can't turn it off because it wasn't a problem back then.
  15. Errrr… they show up for me. Besides, I wouldn’t trust carwow as authoritative on what is and isn’t available. They do a pretty good job, especially with option combos / rules, but they definitely aren’t infallible.
  16. Just had a call from my dealer... still showing as BW36 which was last week, but he's trying to find out just how delayed it is going to be. Apparently that's better than a lot of orders they have where they don't have a build week yet (and from comments on here, pretty common across the board). So, I count myself lucky at the moment that I might have a new car before the end of the year...
  17. I saw a new Sportline today… looked really nice. Can’t wait until I get my new bear, but I’m guessing it will be a while yet. It’s not a good situation for those that need their new wheels sooner rather than later.
  18. Ignite alloys? We don't get an option over here in the UK - we get 20" Sagitarius alloys (the ones with the aero covers) as standard.
  19. The manual does cover multiple markets... but the standard specification (on the VRS, at least) does list: Tyre pressure monitor system I have no idea what it listed before, or if that means direct rather than indirect. </unhelpful reply>
  20. Really? I’ll admit the R Design in white looks like a stormtrooper from the front… but it’s cramped inside and nowhere near as nice as the Kodiaq. Also, Volvo dealers tend to do massive discounts - around £7k on an XC60 before you’ve even started to haggle. As for your main point though - no, never been asked to agree to an excess for a test drive.
  21. I can’t be the only person who doesn’t care about this, and simply uses the head unit as a display for CarPlay (or Android Auto, if you’re that way inclined!)?
  22. To me, that actually seems like a good idea. I can imagine wanting to stop it coasting but not wanting to enter manual mode... so having a choice there makes sense. ACT on my current 1.4TSI is really cool - the number of miles I've done trying to get the little 'eco' symbol to show up and stay on even as I go up/down hills... will miss it when I don't have it on the new bear and have to get used to this coasting function. Still would have liked to see the ability to permanently* engage ACT when in Eco mode so you were driving around on 2 cylinders the whole time. Can see many reasons why that would not be feasible / a bad idea though.
  23. It was there yesterday... didn't fill me with confidence that my new bear will turn up in October. But I'm in no massive hurry - as long as the new bear turns up before March, it doesn't make any difference to me (the dealer is running the risk of losing out if used prices crash before it turns up thanks to their guaranteed p/x price).
  24. If it was manufactured in November 2020, then it isn't a facelift model. The facelift was revealed early this year. This might also explain why the manual (if you're looking at the one for the facelift model with MIB3 and a new steering wheel) doesn't match with what you're actually seeing in your car. Where do you live? I'm wondering how it's taken since June for you to get your vehicle when it was a stock order...
