  1. Forget the French stuff, Stick with the VAG group and go with a Touran, 3 Individual seats in the middle row can easy take 3 child seats, Plus you got 2 more in the boot if needed. Winner!!!
  2. Yep, 32mm socket with a long extension bar and ratchet, piece of cake.
  3. clearly it varies depending on were the M.O.T was done, my car like the millions of others has all its covers in place ( Engine and underside ), but M.O.T last week, no advisories.
  4. LOL, Good choice on the above, Hope She is a 330d ???
  5. Looks real nice mate.... And I welcome you to the MPV club shortly!!
  6. Shame to hear of your high result, I just had my 1.9PD BXE M.O.T 2 weeks ago and it passed with a reading of just 0.004 according to the print out, I always give mine some beans once fully warm of course, Often has long motorway runs to visit family ( From south coast to Leeds ), I think being in daily use and averaging 200-250 miles a week helps keep them clear along with oil changes every 6000 miles. A good way to see if its clogged up is a brisk pull away from stand still in first gear up to 4000 rpm and see if you leave a cloud of smoke in your rear view mirror.
  7. Always liked this light unit with the ambient LED's, I believe it was fitted in high spec Mk5 Golf's as well, very nice!
  8. Agreed, I'm just surprised that coupled to any PD Engine which are renowned for low down torque, there so short legged, In fact I often miss gears when just cruising along ( 4th straight to 6th ) as it can handle it with ease.
  9. I was surprised that the rpm was that high at 70 mph with the 6-speed box, was hoping for an rpm around 2000 to be honest with the 1.9 PD lump. An additional negative in my opinion is that 1st is very short legged, and of course the obvious, your shifting more often meaning more clutch work. I would still prefer a long legged 5 speed box any day over a 6-speed, but to be fair to the 6 speed its very slick to use.
  10. The 1.9 Pd 105 Has a 6 speed box in my Touran and also in the Mk 5 golf, if that's the route your going down then a VW donor car would be the source. but as mentioned above, it does not make much difference at motorway speeds, 70mph in 6th in mine is 2400 rpm.
  11. And the Orange Fabia I had ( also gone and forgotten ) Will also try and make this but not sure what time I can get there, I shall do me bestest!!!
  12. The £450 Quoted sounds very reasonable to me for supply and fit, And at that mileage his diagnosis could well be correct, While the Cam is being changed the cambelt will have to come off so if that's also due, might be the ideal time to save on labour charges.
  13. Another mile stone clocked up on the way to work this morning, Pretty much a year to the day I bought it on 64k.... A year of completely trouble free driving
  14. The black box with all the vacuum pipes is a distribution block, Make sure there are no splits or loose pipes in that area. There is no waste gate on a VNT turbo so there are no issues there, The fact that the error is coming up as "underboost" would obviously fit with your symptoms, but as for the answer I am not sure, it appears you have checked everything, it must be frustrating. I have a perfect working Touran for sale shortly if that helps?
  15. Ohhhh... That would be cool, But I will admit I prefer the blue / Red illumination of the older clocks if I'm honest , plus it would mean all the door switches, Radio, heater controls would look odd as there in Blue/Red and the newer clocks are White?
  16. Ill keep my eyes peeled Phil, Mine is the old "red" midline display, I am more than confident in removing the cluster as I actually took the unit out and apart not long after I got the car as there was an annoying glittery speck of dust on the screen right were the time display was! ( I know its sad but I couldn't live with it, I'm a bit OCD on stuff )
  17. I thought about fitting a full maxidot to mine as it only has a mid-line display, But finding the correct full maxidot seems difficult on the older cars now. Plus with Carista I have all options on that I want so it would only be an aesthetics thing really unless I can find one going cheap! I guess having it coded to the car also corrects the millage to match?
  18. Hi Mike, I would suggest looking at the Throttle position sensor based on the readings its giving you, Try unplugging it first and reconnecting to ensure all is clean and tight. Also as you say you have no turbo input, Can you hear it spoiling up?, Does the engine feel like its holding back or does it just feel flat?
  19. Hi, LED's are not model specific, they are purely based on type / Size depending what's in your vehicle. Just take out all your bulbs and order up identical LED's to replace, ( Mine had mainly T10 Capless, And a few Festoons of different lengths ) Depending on the age of your Vehicle always get CAN-BUS error free bulbs to prevent a "Bulb Out" light on your dash
  20. As an owner of a 1.9Tdi like many others on here, I've often seen posts were people says "what's the owl sound" my turbo makes when I lift of the throttle?, is my turbo dying?, is it the police siren sound?. My car has always made a "howl" sound on gear changes and when lifting off, and I think I know why, after browsing you tube I stumbled across videos named "1.9Tdi straight pipe" and it was like WOW!!! That's the exact same sound only exaggerated. So to sum up, I reckon my standard exhaust which is still in perfect condition and possibly original to the car ( 8 years old ) has lost most if not all the baffle material in the back box and as such is almost like a straight through system. Just a thought to anyone else with a "howling" Tdi, watch some of videos on you tube and see if it's the same sound...... ? Thanks :-)
  21. The "Common one" is the one I have, and has been perfect with an IPhone 5 and an IPad mini. The mini version could be more suitable / Practical if you want to leave it plugged in all the time, But the common one is bigger and easier to plug in and out when needed which is all I wanted one for. Your choice on that one mate!
  22. Yep, I have one of these from Ebay to use on an Iphone, Worked perfectly from day one. Used with Carista & Dashcommand no problems
  23. I love my 1.9PD and mine is a BXE but so far my rods have not melted! With every negative report on a BXE, I have read many reports of Taxi's powered by BXE Engines with 300k + Miles, I actually was really sad when a taxi was parked next to me at our local Co-op, I asked him what engine and how many miles he had done ( 07 Octavia ) he replied with " It's a 1.9 BXE mate, And now showing 317k miles! ) To me as many have said, Keep the oil changes frequent, and you will be fine.
  24. My Dad has a rapid Spaceback Sport 63 plate 1.6Tdi, And if you like spotting the little differences, the one that gets him is in my VW the grab handles above each door are sprung loaded for soft close, There NOT in the rapid. And his only has one-touch down on the windows, Not one-touch up. BUT to throw one back at VW!...... I really liked the little clear plastic ticket holder in the front screen on my Fabia.... No show in the VW?? Silly little things....
  25. Have to agree with meaty, and luckily I don't have a DPF, but if I did, it too would be left well alone, if the car is designed with one then it should be there. Would you take your seat belts out to save weight? Same as the EGR, mine is and will be staying were its meant to be, why bother with the potential hassle?
