  1. 30 would make the car feel mushy as hell too......not to mention tyre longevity! I can understand driving in snow (I gather it works kind of like driving in sand - low pressures to increase the footprint and increase grip) - but on bitumen it seems strange. I'm sure if so many are doing it there must be a reason (get heat into the tyres is one such reason, as running them that low would generate a lot more heat)
  2. Hi - i've searched but cant seem to find any info surrounding this (in the mk3 forums also). Lots of people mention "airbag" or "pressure" sensors in the doors, and that you can't just remove the trim, but was wondering if anyone has done it, and if they have any pictures or hints/tips on how to do it. I want to pull the trims off and sound deaden the front doors - I bought a bunch of spare clips in preparation (not trying to destroy clips, but know how it is). Have also bought the trim tools from lefperf. I have the canton option on my car, and wanted to help improve the front sound stage, as well as tyre noise isolation as much as possible.
  3. Silly question, but why would you consider a new fabia now, when the new model is around the corner?
  4. Crikey! 30PSI! I run 40 all round with 18's all the time!
  5. I have every single light on the car replaced with LEDs (except the front indicators) - all bought from Ledperf. Am about to undertake the footwell light retrofit, and put some green footwell ambient lighting in!
  6. Elegance only in Australia, not on the rs
  7. We dont get it in australia. Unless you mean light assist as in auto headlights. If it's the auto high beam, then we dont get that or lane assist in oz (or sign recognition) - they are all the same camera.
  8. While i'd agree about taking it back and getting the dealer to fix it, it would be nice for someone to post a how to! (isnt that what forums are for?) Especially for those of us that like tinkering with their cars. I'd like to add sound deadening to my front doors (dynamat), and if I had some pictures of what to do (or what not to do in regards to the airbag sensors). I already have a handful of trim clips spare, incase I bust any, just need to make sure I dont screw with the sensors.
  9. Yes, heat reduction is huge with this tint. The photos dont show it that well, but in direct sunlight it has quite a lot of reflection - not total mirror tint, but it has some "mirror" quality about it. The last 20% I got was just dark, so harder to tell it was illegal from a distance. But this stuff just outright looks illegal. Oh well, i'll see how I go. Driving a non-descript family wagon in a sensible fashion generally means the cops leave you alone. I never had any issues in the last car (mk2 rs) so fingers crossed none in this car. Here's a pano roof photo too (this photo is Before tint)
  10. Wow. I just used trim tools and mine popped off (I went from candy white to black magic pearl on a candy white estate.). Handy to know there is a "right" way of doing this.
  11. Anyone got some pics of these mods? Thinking of getting them enabled when I get the footwell lights coded. I have changed all my lights to LED's from Ledperf, and I have the factory LED tail light option (and xenons with AFS). Was following the missus home the other day and noticed that the brake light is only two small strips - but the tail lights are two huge c-lines. Would have thought the other way around would be better. Interested to see what others have enabled and what they look like
  12. Yes, had mine for just over 1000k's now, and it fantastic on the highway. Compared to the last few manuals i've had, its a bit harder to pull away smoothly (there is absolutely nothing under ~1500) but you do get used to it! Any anything over that is great! For the size of the car and the engine, its decent. We're happy with ours at least! I will say, having used ACC I wont own another car with normal cruise control now - ACC is that much better! And xenons are bloody awesome too!
  13. OK, figured out that I have a photobucket account so here goes...... Before tint After tint
  14. Not voids warranty, it's technically illegal (you can get booked). I've had it before on the previous Skoda, and had no issues. If you don't drive like a ****, you'll be fine. Even insurance has to prove that the tint contributed to the accident to try and avoid paying. I know people in the insurance industry and they reckon no one has been denied a claim due to tint. 20% isn't that dark, it's slightly darker to the eye than 35% (legal) but hard to notice unless they are side by side.I have some more pictures, but can't upload them for some reason?
  15. Had another crack at it today (first chance i've had) and it went on with little effort. Doing pretty much exactly what I was doing before. It is disgustingly humid today, rather than dry, so maybe that helps. But, I have my RS pedals now, they look great!
  16. I asked in another thread, but no one answered. Would 8.5" rims with et45 offset with 235/40/18 tyres for the Octavia without scrubbing?
  17. **** mate, that must be absolutely gutting! It's happened a few times to guys in oz (dealer screwing up the order). I was so relieved when mine came through perfect.Who did the order? Was it Josh or someone else? Did you try and pick up through Brisbane prestige? I went to the gold coast because prestige are knobs. Gold coast were bloody awesome! Haha, I looked at a beemer as well (3 series wagon) but it was more than double the price of the Octavia. We get screwed on prices for BMW/merc in oz. 31.5k aud vs 70-75k aud....(for a 328 wagon)
  18. Look like vmr v710s. Same sort of weight per rim too!
  19. Sometimes I type things in a hurry on Tapatalk and when I re-read them I'm like.... Wow I sound like an asshole. Fingers crossed for you it comes with it!
  20. Sorry I just re-read that and it sounds harsh. Just wondering what sort of setup you have that you can't see backwards in/use mirrors for (or sensors). I know some people like rvc, but I rarely use it, prefer to look and use mirrors or sensors as a last resort. Up until 10-15 years ago, that's all there was, and people weren't crashing into everything. I am with you on happy wife, happy life though. So understand why.
  21. Is it not a normal rectangular carport? Why are there poles behind the car? or is it kind of like a battleaxe block and you drive in then turn sideways? I'm not sure if RVC is standard yet.....I thought for MY15 onwards it was, but the site still lists tech pack with and without (although when I bought, it didnt list it at all)
  22. Can xds (setting how it's software) be enabled with vcds?
  23. Is yours a wagon? They come with reverse sensors std. The sensors are a bit pessimistic I find (show red when there is still a bit of gap) but those combined with excellent visibility should be enough for 99% of people. The car feels surprisingly small to drive, despite having excellent space inside. My wife hasn't had any issues going from a Honda jazz to the Octavia wagon.
