  1. Good choice! Damn all you people who ordered the Pano roof... It's my only purchase remorse. I looked at the price of it and pictured a normal old school sunroof and promptly discounted it as an option. Then I saw one on here about 3 weeks before my car arrived and I was instantly gutted I didn't spec one!
  2. Looking forward to seeing it and hearing about it. Someone on the forum has fitted one already, looks awesome: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/330595-new-apr-carbon-intake-in-the-new-occy-vrs/?p=3972490
  3. Bugger! I remember the waiting game, it sucks. From memory the FBSW was standard on vRS's after build week 22 (in May) - MY15 cars. So unless your new pride and joy has been squirreled away in box somewhere for a few months then it'll almost certainly have a FBSW!
  4. Bugger. Sounds like the dealer decided the demo would look better with tints and got a job done on the cheap. That seems a bit lame of them... Hopefully the new outfit does a top notch job and you never have to think about it again! On the plus side, you can probably get it a little darker than the factory tint, which is certainly on the light side of dark.
  5. Don't suppose you could have a quick look at your map version? Mine is V03959800BL0033 ROW. I've sent an email to the service team at Giltrap, but it would be good to know if you do have a different version.
  6. +1 for this. Be great to hear from someone who's added a LSD.
  7. Excellent, thanks for checking. Those are definitely missing on mine, I was driving on Taylor Road but the car was on no man's land on the screen! Looks like I might have an old map version. I'll contact the dealer and find out how to update.
  8. I'd be surprised if any car factory fitted stick on tints instead of tinted glass as part of the manufacturing process...
  9. I'd be happy if it just included all the roads ☺
  10. Parsey - you've got the Apr remap don't you? Still enjoying? Any issues? Practicality day-to-day?
  11. Interesting. Does it stop if you switch to recycled air? Is it even possible to switch to recycled air when AC/heat's off?
  12. Doh ! I probably should have looked at the poll rather than just reading the comments...
  13. Ha, I just sent them an email asking the same thing, although mine will be without variable floor. Which I guess is their point - too many sku's for one car! Shame, they look fantastic. I'm almost tempted to get one and cut out the space for the Canton box. Should be able to get a local canvas stitcher to tidy it up around the cut.
  14. Is this the one you got http://ebay.eu/1u8uFwV? Do you have the Canton sub in the left side of the boot? If so, does it fit fine? The Hatchbag.co.uk ones that GreatDane linked to look awesome, except they specifically say they don't fit with the Canton box.
  15. Ah, thanks Neil. That'll be it, it wasn't standard in NZ. Probably because we don't have a lot of motorway and dual carriageway, which seems to be the environment where it's most useful. My assertion of it being rubbish was based on the comments in this thread where most seem to have it switched off permanently. Glad to here that it's useful for some. Cheers
  16. Beware, rant below... This is such a classic example of dumb technology. Car stereos (sorry, "infotainment"...) are by far and away the worst pieces of hardware for adapting to actual advances in technology. Needing to resize all artwork in an MP3 tag is freaking ridiculous! That's the sort of thing that was needed in the 00's for media players. I still remember my old iRiver fondly, where I went through this exact process for album art - but that was 10 years ago! It's just as bad for video files - must be a particular size, frame rate, and audio codec to work. So the car forces me to recode any video I want to play in the car - that's just not going to happen. As a result, I've converted a single video file, just to see if I could get one to play. I did, and I'm almost positive that's the last time I will ever watch a video on that screen - which is a shame cause I often have down time in the car where watching a movie would be most welcome. How hard is it to provide the ability to play a broad arrange of file types and sizes? My crappy 3 year old Android tablet can do (virtually) everything better than my brand new Columbus ICE (ok, it can't play FM radio...) - that's just sad. And yet it's full of useless tech like being able to rip a CD?! Is that for the Skoda owner who doesn't have or know how to a computer? Don't even get me stated on how ugly the UI and how poor the UX is. It's like the people that design this shlte are 70 year olds looking at tech magazines from the early 2000's for inspiration! Apologies, rant over.
  17. Sorry to be dumb, but is Lane Assist and option or standard? I thought it was a (fairly expensive) option. If it is an option, aren't people annoyed to have paid for something that's rubbish? If it's standard, I need to have a better look through my infotainment!
  18. The area I was driving is north of Auckland, between SH16 and SH1. https://www.google.co.nz/maps/@-36.7187024,174.5130134,13z It's rural, but there are dozens of roads and quite a lot of activity - vinyards, businesses, houses, etc. Here's the same area in the Sat Nav (it's zoomed out, but if you zoom in there are no more roads than shown). The Sat Nav effectively shows only two roads (Kahikatea Flat Road and West Coast Road - neither shown in my image) off SH16 between Riverhead Road and the town of Wellsford - a distance of 80km. There are actually dozens and dozens of roads in the area, many of which save considerable time than staying on SH16. Sure, if you used the Sat Nav you'd get where you wanted to go, but potentially waste a hell of a lot of petrol on the way (and miss a bunch of very fun roads!). And too bad if you wanted to visit friends who lived in the area, or take a trip to the wonderful Matua Valley Wines on Waikoukou Valley Road - they don't exist on Skoda's maps!
  19. I kinda assumed the dealer would have put the latest version on (I picked the car up 6 weeks ago), but I really should check!
  20. shlte. Well, in NZ anyway! I've tested it on a couple of trips out of town when I knew the way and there are a number of roads that just aren't included - not minor dirt roads or anything, these are proper roads with houses etc. They're the fastest way between a couple of towns. I loaded up Google maps to do a side by side comparison and it was like I was in different locations! The Columbus trip from A to B was 37 minutes, the same trip in Google maps (with its fancy extra roads...) was 17 minutes. I certainly won't be trusting the Skoda maps on a trip where I don't know where I'm going, which is a shame as I thought I could get away from having an ugly mount for my phone on the windscreen. Android Auto can't come soon enough for me...
  21. Excellent Stefano, it looks great. Much much better. Looking forward to the write up of the "wife test". I had to sell an STi forester I had (partly) due to the harsh ride the coilovers gave the car, so I'm a little gun shy on new springs for the Octy!
  22. Have exactly the same thing. As I'd already posted about a rattle from the boot, I was too scared to ask about this one too! It's really annoying, I've nearly crashed a few times trying to poke and prod and pull bits of the passengers door while I'm driving to make it go away. I shall try the suggestions above before heading back to the dealer!
  23. Is your current seat (and car) isofix? Both of the seats you've linked two are, which means fitting in the vRS will take all on 10 seconds. I have a combo car seat/booster seat for my 3.5 year old. As a result it still has a tether over the back which makes fitting a 30sec job. But the booster seats you're looking at are snap in and go. Isofix bolts are really well positioned in the vRS, and I don't have a problem with the profiled rear seat, it's not deep. I use a small towel under it to flatten it out and save damaging the seat. I have the car seat headrest in front of the rear seats actual headrest and didn't feel the need to remove it. Doesn't really answer your query directly, but might be useful!
  24. Love it. Can't wait to see some more pics once she's in your possession!
  25. I did the reverse and went from an s4 to the mk3 Octavia rs. I miss my AWD, but only at launch really. Once you get over 50km/h the power gets to the road fine on the FWD. I would, however be all over an AWD Octavia rs, if it eventuates...
