  1. So sorry for you but fully understand. Could I ask before you go would you please put something together for Honest John as per my previous thread - the more we can generate the better his chance of pressuring Skoda. Thanks in advance and best of luck for the future. Take care & Stay safe
  2. Good morning all and thanks for all your efforts on behalf of all owners. I am in correspondence with Honest John at the Telegraph who is responding in a positive way however he did say:- 'so far yours is the only complaint I have actually received. I would need more to raise the issue'. His contact details are:- Honest Advice [[email protected]] I am sure you will all agree that the more irritation we can cause the more likely it will be that Skoda will address these issues. FYI I have attached copy of the initial letter I sent to Honest John together with copy of his response where he compares the Octavia to the Golf 8 - Makes very interesting reading - definitely not good for the VAG Brand. The 3rd attachment is detail of FAQ Consumer Rights. In advance I thank you all for your support and assistance. Between us we ought to be able to obtain a resolution. 3. By virtue of the photographic evidence kindly provided above by Matmaca which provides unequivocal proof that that VAG knew of this issue thus necessitating the upgrade to the PN:- 5E3035816B. They are deliberately being tardy in failing to recall affected vehicles. Note also that the clock is also displayed as in the advertising brochures in the top centre of the dash. Hopefully this will persuade even the most resistant manufacturer to rectify same and relieve the frustration and ensure the vehicle is compliant under S.35 The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986. I feel pressure has to be exerted on Skoda to accept their responsibility not to mention their liability for delivering an un-roadworthy vehicle. I have written to my dealership as above requesting they pressure Skoda directly, perhaps you could all consider doing the same.
  4. Thanks Coume, that is looking more positive we seem to be moving in the right direction. I have also emailed Honest John - Telegraph who was most interested especially comparing it to the numerous issues experienced with the sister vehicle the Golf 8. Keep up the pressure and hopefully we will eventually all get the car we thought we were buying initially.
  5. Thanks that should be helpful and I will back you up if it helps.
  6. That really is brilliant news, so pleased for you and also for our other followers. As for me, our Dealer has offered to fit one for me so awaiting their call to arrange same. Well done
  7. The general debacle regarding the Mk4 continues - I feel it is totally illogical that the manufacturer would have such difficulty is servicing this request when they offer it as a 'Factory Fit'. The parts, wiring loom and coding must of necessity be the same or is it targeted marketing!! It is at least unethical and certainly not supportive of their customer base. Perhaps it will now fail to earn 'Star' rating with the Caravan magazines which Skoda have dominated in previous years.
  8. Have you researched the changes necessary for towing which is my major interest?
  9. I also suffer the identical issue. My software version is 1668 Have tried again today for an update but none available!!
  10. I was told the same re the High Beam Assist and likewise I feel certain that it was in the blurb somewhere!!!!
  11. Thanks, at least you have secured acknowledgement that there is a fix on the way with a recall that's better than I did when my local dealer said' 'That's how your car has been built and that's how it is'.
  12. Totally agree, we had the Elegance for 4 years replacing it with an SEL Estate in 2016 both of which served us well without any faults whatsoever and we towed throughout France, Spain and Portugal so very sadly disappointed with our new SEL 1st Edition which comes fully loaded with all the software faults imaginable and poor support to rectify same. The car does drive well.
  13. Hope all goes well for you.
  14. Hi Guys, I know it is a long way for many of you but wondered if it was worth consideration. Just had a quote from Westerntowing at Newton Abbot https://www.westerntowing.co.uk/towbars-fitted-exeter-newton-abbot-torbay-devon/ to supply and fit a Westfalia detachable with dedicated electrics with coding etc inc VAT at £649.80 inclusive of 10% discount during February. They confirmed that they had the necessary equipment to do the necessary coding. Good luck all.
  15. I have a full set of issues as referred to here, My car came off the line in March 20 if that helps.
  16. Car was into local dealership this week and had the 'Selector Lever' replaced to cure the other issues with the Front and Rear Assist plus the Rear Traffic Assist. As yet these faults have not manifested themselves again. However as regards the KPH/MPH issues they told me - 'This is not available on your car!' As you can imagine I took issue with the absurdity of this. Later I spke to the supplying dealership who were totally different and after checking with Skoda assured me that Skoda are aware and will be issuing a fix in due course which was more encouraging.
  17. Yes will do. Incidentally I had sought confirmation from my supplying dealership that this wouldn't be an issue prior to commencing with the deal but that is another issue.
  18. As of yet no, I spoke to my fitter at the beginning of the week but he hasn't got back to me however I did speak again to P J Jones who said they had sold several towbars for the new Octavia and were not aware of any issues but they will specifically check re coding in depth with their techs and get back to me. I recall reading somewhere that with the latest VAG offerings that fitter are required to get a 'one-time pass code from a dealership' to allow them access to the coding for an individual vehicle but have no further update on that and as you know it is not so easy to get answers from Skoda. Guess the cars will fall from their position as Tow Car of the Year with the various institutions if you can't retro-fit towing facilities.
  19. Likewise, it is one of the numerous things which I have been trying to get resolved (in vein) via my local dealership and Skoda UK. Skoda UK have said that it is not available on my vehicle although checking the app for compatibility it clearly states that it is!! Also on collecting my car from another visit to the dealership I was informed that the KPH/MPH change issue - is not available on your vehicle!! When arguing the case to change to imperial in UK they added 'That's the way it is, go back to your supplying dealership, it appears that they have mis-sold you the car!! Eventually they agreed to check the car with me when I demonstrated the setting was present but would not change. I left with them promising to look into it further!!
  20. No it is set to good old Blighty.
  21. Yes likewise. Also whilst it shows MPH on dash I can't change that to KPH so not best for the Continent. Also if I enter a route it shows and counts down in KPH. Pretty special ain't it?
  22. Yes I have the same issue with KPH/MPH which I have reported several times to Skoda UK and each time they have insisted that they were unaware of it and it needs to go to the dealership for diagnostics!!!!!!!!!! It has but that hasn't produced any benefit.
  23. I bought my original towbar from P. F. Jones the national suppliers and had it fitted to 2 previous Octavias as I said above. Yes each time the ECU/CAN required recoding after fitting and removal but not a problem. Having been informed by P. F. Jones that the same towbar will fit the Mk4 I retained it on changing the car and today received confirmation from them that they have sold several kits for the Mk4 with electrics and have had no adverse feedback. I have emailed my local specialist and await his response re his ability to re-code the car after fitting same. Incidentally the same towbar fits the Golf, Audi A4 & Seat Leon as well as the Octavia Hatch and Estate. If Skoda were to make it an issue then a whole swathe of industry will be committed to the scrap heap all around the world. It would make no sense in the long term.
  24. Hi again, likewise we have exactly the same problem. My phone works OK but my wife's, whilst showing on Infotainment with contacts etc and you cam make calls, there is no audio whatsoever either outgoing or incoming.
