  1. You can buy a storage box to go under the roller. http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-Combi-original-Skoda-boot-multifunctional-box It also rolls up if you need the space.
  2. After having my water pump changed, after it failed, I got a low coolant level warning almost immediately after. The garage topped up the coolant, and haven't had a problem with coolant since.
  3. While my Octavia is only on 88k atm, my old 3 series crossed 200k this month, and I managed to get my old focus to 240k before it died.
  4. If you have mud flaps fitted and it only happens when going very slow, could well be the bottom of the mud flap catching the speed bump as when the front suspension dips when it lands on the other side. When you are going a bit faster, the tyre is just that little bit further away, so it doesn't scrape. Have a feel of the bottom of the mud flap and see if it feels rough. If it does, then it has been scraped on something. To be absolutely sure if it is the flap, put some tape over the bottom of the flap and drive over the bump slowly. If it is rough after then that is what is catching. And given the quality of some speed bumps I have been over, they could well be uneven in shape, or tarmac crumbling on far side.
  5. I have ACC on my 14 plate VRS, and High Beam assist and traffics sign assist are options, but also can be enabled on all MK3 VRS, as far as I know. And all driving modes can have the sound generator, just at different levels.
  6. hmm. Never get it on a roundabout. Wonder if it needs recalibrating. Have you had wheel alignment done recently? I know they recommend a recalibration if you have. I don't get it with slight left turns.
  7. There are places that cause that for me. Northbound Blackwall Tunnel. Driving close to those new concrete barriers on motorways. Seems to get confused by reflections from solid objects close to either side of the car, and decides the best thing to do is shut down until it has a clear view again. Is yours a facelift with the higher sensor? Wondering if that is making it more sensitive.
  8. The standard mud flaps do fit. They say they aren't suitable as they are more likely to scrape due to the lower car. I have them fitted on mine and I have lowered the vrs, and I don't find them a problem, though they do occasionally scrape certain speed bumps (Morrisons Hillsborough Barracks, I am looking at you)
  9. Is this a speed bump you have been over before? And at what point do you feel the scrape, when the front types meet the road on the other side of the road after the bump? I have had mud flaps scrap when I go too slow over a speed bump. Sills scape when going over a particularly nasty speed bump that caused the car to dip down on the other side. Undertray scrape when going over those part lane bumps with wheels either side of the bump, if they again are a bit too tall.
  10. I haven't measured the space, but I do know there is a decent void behind the drivers side dash. Access the space by taking of the drivers side dash end panel. Might be to wide to get into the space.
  11. Used DriveTheDeal way back in 2003 to buy my old focus. No problems using them, but all they are really doing is putting you in touch with the dealer who then takes it forward. Delivery time is going to be entirely dependent on options chosen and availability. Using Drive the Deal won't affect that time.
  12. Not that I can see. If they don't want to do an MOT, I would walk away. Could be a load of expensive wear and tear items due, such as discs and pads etc.
  13. As long as one of the amounts on a credit card over £100, then you should be covered. Don't do 2 payments of £50, you won't be covered in that case, I don't think. If the price is the same, I would probably go take it to a Skoda dealership, especially if you are not convinced by the garages reputation.
  14. oh and Cambelt and Water Pump change is £500 all in at a Skoda dealership, £400 for just Cambelt. Given the issues with the diesel engine and waterpumps, best spend the extra £100 and get it changed
  15. Buy part of the car on a credit card. Only needs to be over £100, but then you get Credit Card protection for the whole amount. So if you do have a problem like you describe, you can claim from the credit card company for the full amount.
  16. Nope. Was rock solid after that. Which was good, as the day after did a 2500 mile roadtrip to Stockholm and back.
  17. I had the coolant problem on mine at around 38,000 2 years ago. They changed the water pump under warranty, and like you within a week had the low coolant warning. Dealer topped up the coolant, and has been fine ever since. Car has now done 88,000 and just had her 5 year water pump and timing belt change.
  18. Would you be able to lease a car, knowing you couldn't mod it?
  19. Used to be a 5k grant towards the cost, but has dropped to 3.5k for an all electric car. Hybrids no longer qualify. There are also grants for bikes and vans
  20. I have had my insurance premium drop by about 75 for just stating I have a dashcam, so they are now beginning to pay for themselves. Have a Mobius in both my cars, and my partner has front and rear ddpai. The ddpai in parking mode recorded someone who backed into her car while reversing then drove off. Allowed her to make a claim of the other persons insurance to get the damage fixed.
  21. Think what you may be noticing is the extra boost the headunit gives at higher speed. Can't remember what speed it boosts the sound.
  22. After not doing any mods for a while, the itch needed to be scratched, so retrofitted the powerfold mirrors. Also 80 percent through fitting the Inbay Qi car charger. Will finish that off tomorrow. And on the E46, swapped a broken wiper arm.
  23. I've had the Asymmetric 3 and the PS4 on my VRS, and out of the 2, I will be sticking with the PS4. The Asymmetric 3 were good, just the PS4 seem better.
  24. Ah nuts. Got a 60 day return on them, so can get that money back ok. Might be tempted to see if I can find a friendly garage to see if they can flash them, as I have seen on Ross Tech someone else having issue with the controllers they bought and they were fine after that. See what happens when I install them, just so I can validate the mirrors fold.
  25. I will be doing this mod as soon as I can get to the post office to pick up the delivery. Just wanted to know if there was anything I needed to look out for when swapping over the door controllers, apart from taking a backup first. Got a pair of the memory controllers from a Leon.
