Aftermarket radio with the steering wheel commands?
If your headunit supports remotes - then you'll likely need a harness from the likes of connects2 or something. I had some trouble with mine as due to it being a later model - I had to get a newer harness installed by a professional since they didn't have a version specific for my vehicle.

New to the site
Welcome to the forums. That's a FL so make sure your cam chain tensioner (and associated bits e.g. chains, guides) have been replaced in the last few years with the updated revision It's pricey, but a new car more so.

Mp4 video "show controls" gone now too 😞

Newbie Skoda experience
I personally found my mk2 costing an arm and a leg compared to my mk1. I am hating myself for ditching the mk1 as all the money spent could've gotten me a nice mk3!

I came, I saw, I regretted updating.

Sure it's not that bad? What happened to it? Edit: fixed the toolbar position but not a fan of single column for tabs, much preferred the dual column layout. Haven't checked performance whilst browsing yet.

A new baby <3
@Solly I know how you feel. My mk2 has cost so much more than the mk1 to look after. So much stuff as gone wrong and I deeply regret ditching my mk1!

Big thank you to Skoman
Had a neighbour hydrolock his sharan when he tried cleaning it too. I took my dad's off and put a new gasket on (ordered 2 when I did mine). Cut open a 4L milk carton, and cleaned in there to capture all the petrol/carb cleaner. Big chunks of tar off the EGR and the MPG was SO much better.

Hey
I still have my mk1 fabia (1.2 petrol) and sorely miss my 1.9tdi octavia. Brilliant engines.

Hello
Welcome and I hope you enjoy it!

Hey
Welcome. Forums aren't crazily busy, but are decently so (given that I hang about in older model threads). The newer vehicle forums here are much more active!

OBDEleven Pro/VCDS Diagnostic Tools
I could type a big response to this, but I'll try and keep it brief. Both OK Get an autoscan from a VCDS user before you do anything with OBD Eleven though! VCDS can scan non-VW group vehicles and reset codes, but can't change features on them to my knowledge Newer vehicle will require a VCDS V2 interface (iirc) I would personally go for VCDS because I've helped lots of friends, family and neighbours with stuff including people on the forums and people who messed stuff up badly (somehow!?) with OBD Eleven.

Rear Coil Spring Issue
This thread has put me right off attempting my own rear spring replacement!

Less interest Detailing nowadays?...
This is mine. Plus I found out that it has been repaired beforehand and now I've got some horrible paintwork issues to (try) and fix.

Hello!
Hi there and welcome. If it's a petrol please, PLEASE Make sure your chain, tensioner and guides are done otherwise it'll cost you an arm and a leg when the current tensioner fails.

which is the right radiator cap?!
Mine looks like the blue slot above on a 60 plate.

ABS/ESP/TPMS lights at once :(
Octavia vrs mk2 fl tsi (2010). Driving along I got the ABS, ESP and TPMS lights up at once :( Scanned and saw the below (VCDS autoscan error sections below). I had a look around and apparently the teves ABS pumps are known to fail. Would mine be impacted or would it just be the sensor/ring? If it is the sensor/ring - am I correct in understanding that: - the hub and bearing need replacement? - the sensor would need replacement too? Octavia Mk2 FL petrol - fuel filter challenges
In case this turns up in anyone else's search: Screw was pretty much the biggest challenge here. It was rusted through. I ended up drilling the head off and used mole grips to remove the rest. Clips were fiddly, but managed to do it with gloves on (the thin medical style rather than chunky mechanic ones). Turns out the old filter was last done in 2016. There were a few large bits of dirt in there, but it wasn't black sludge.

OCY VRS MK2 codes
Have you thought about popping your battery on a charger/replacing it first? Sounds like low voltage causing issues?

Octavia Mk2 FL petrol - fuel filter challenges
So I've had a look at the procedure for this. It looks fairly straightforward in theory: Don't open the doors Undo 3 hoses by pressing the buttons on the clips (tray to gather excess fuel spillage) Undo a screw new one in connect hoses Job done However I know that things often don't go according to plan. What challenges/gotchas are there for the fuel filter? Am I able to do it without jacking the car up? One issue I'm aware of and may potentially encounter is the rusty screw breaking/stripping. Anything else that could potentially go wrong?
