  1. I've got music as both MP3 and WAV files on USB and SD cards, it's straightforward ripping straight to either from a PC, I use good old Windows media player - it has "file type" and "save to" options in the rip settings. I use Media player because it's simple and fast - even though I've also got a couple of other programs on the system. I'm part way through my CD collection of several hundred, I've got around 180 CDs and only used some 38 Gb of a 128 Gb SD card (Kingston, but any decent brand is fine, doesn't need to be Skoda, they're just for the navigation maps) . On the standard Amundsen system there's no noticeable difference in sound quality between MP3 and WAV. Obviously you'll get far more album tracks on a USB or CD with MP3 than WAV. All you need to do withthe USB/SD is put it in the appropraite slot, then look for it in the media input option on the infotainment (horrible word) system screen. The card contents then appear lie a horizontal Rolodex and I can just swipe/scroll through tem. I leave the SD card in the slot all the time - I prefer it to the USB stick because that can be knocked and damage the socket. My 2019 Karoq has the two SD slots in the glovebox, one is for the maps card. On some CDs that are copies of a friend's original discs the album cover and track names are missing, and though it's possible to partially edit this on my PC, I couldn't be bothered. I appreciate there are chunks of this you already know.
  2. We don't know NSW except Sydney and then just about 50 km around the harbour. One of our WA trips, five of us spent a week driving up to Carnarvon and back with a , the highway was so quiet if we saw a car on the horizon coming the other way we'd have a competition to see how long it would be before we passed. And we used to rate the quality of the egg and bacon sandwiches in the roadside cafes. Then on a trip down to Albany we'd count the dead kangaroos to pass the time. I've a third cousin 20km from Byron Bay who keeps sending photos of goannas nearly a metre long.
  3. Oh, OK. See if there's any response over the next few days. I think many/most Karoq owners have fitted NextBase from what I recall from posts the past year. They've done a big marketing push on the new range across the retailers on the High Street over here. (Where are you in NSW? I've a cousin in the heart of Sydney - and yes, I know it's a big country, I've another cousin in Perth and been to both places a few times!)
  4. Hi whitevx, yes BV have a good reputation but very pricey. I know what you mean about the unobtrusive aspect. The latest NB ones have a much slimmer mount than previously for a neater look but have enough presence to be seen by wrongdoers, which I like. Also I can't really notice my BV520 from the driver's seat. Anyway, what's the problem with the BV? Using, or wiring?
  5. Do you have a specific problem relating to the Blackview? They were big sellers over here a few years back, but the latest NextBase range has seriously undercut BV on price and gets top ratings from tests. That BV model costs over £500 here. There were lots of posts about BV dashcams on the Octavia 3 forum some years back.
  6. Good choice. Really. You'll just have to learn to travel light, no chance of getting a week's luggage for four in that boot!
  7. Ignore the above mis-post. Couldn't fully delete it.
  8. But as yet you haven't personally got any complaints about Skoda customer service, you've decided to be angry now because you might have in the future?
  9. Every car forum has lots of horror stories, if you took everything on board you'd never buy any car. Try reading the customer dissatisfaction reports by Which? and the JD Power surveys on the likes of Land Rover, Vauxhall, BMW, Mercedes, Renault...
  10. Slightly different perspective. I ran a Saab 9-5 with 220 bhp for over nine years, more than twice my next longest. My average ownership is around thirty months. Fast, comfortable, I loved it from the start, but after 125,000 miles, it was bleeding me dry. I then had a '63 Octavia, 1.4, 140 bhp. Nice, but after 18 months that was all it was. Nice, and functional. I wanted more, so went for a petrol vRS, 64 plate, with 220 bhp, and loved it from day one. (Apart from the wheelspin on take-off.) That lasted four and a half years until June last year, when I was no longer getting the use of the performance, and serious depreciation was due to kick in again. I didn't want to get to the point where it was going to need work either, my one mistake with the Saab. It's taken me until now, a year later, to really appreciate my current Karoq, 1.5, 150 bhp, Crystal Black, chrome trim, SE-L, 69 plate. It covers long distances as well as the Saab and vRS, is as enjoyable as the other two at legal speeds on A and many B roads, maybe another 20 bhp would be good, and while it didn't ignite the immediate infatuation that the Saab and vRS did, I can see me staying with it for a very long time. Hey, we're only talking about cars here, not life partners!
  11. The disadvantage of that Amazon Sakura mat is it can't stop any fluids reaching underneath - the Skoda mat and the Bootliners copy have raised sides.
  12. Try thewheelshop.co.uk based near Manchester. Thye've a huge range of options, with/without jacks and wheelbraces, I've used them for three different motors. Top quality, all brand new and branded, and good prices. Usual disclaimer - I've got no connection with them.
  13. FlyingGecko replied to Jamesmaher63's topic in Skoda Karoq
Yep, I think that too. The OP said his previous Yeti was a DSG, so I thought it worth checking.
  14. FlyingGecko replied to Jamesmaher63's topic in Skoda Karoq
    Is it DSG or manual?
  15. Yes, but it's a bit of a faff folding up and down compared with that on my Octy, and it leaves the hole through to the boot, which to my sensitive eye isn't aesthetically pleasing.
  16. Happy to be proved wrong. Ask for an Audi S8.
  17. Just had a go. That's so simple it's brilliant! Thanks. Shows I should've read the instructions - but why change the habit of a lifetime. Even then I didn't see the bit about removing the headrest first. Now, could you make them weigh about a kilo each?
  18. Everyone has their own favourite, I use Autoglym's bumper and trim gel on the lower bumpers and side panels. It's messy to put on, I use a small sponge, and a 1" round brush for the honecomb lower grille moulding, but it has a nice ripe fruit smell! You can get a bumper sill plate from many places - Skoda, Superskoda (now Kopacek), fleabay, etc, but I've used Richard Grant Mouldings - rgmautomotive.co.uk - for four different motors. I've a photo in an earlier post. I'm only a short@rse 5'6", so a step is mandatory to clean the roof. Got one of those small plastic folding ones, just gives me an extra 6 inches, so to speak.
  19. I just wish they were easier (and lighter) to take out and put back! But I'm with you on the armrest/missing ski hatch.
  20. Exactly as mistac has just posted. I got my S hooks from Wilko - a couple of quid for several. Yes, the bungees are still a tight stretch, but the hooks work fine. Just a pity the central seat in the Varioflex seats won't tilt forward as far as the outside seats.
  21. I'm delighted with the much lower noise levels on the 215/50 18" Bridgestones than the 225/45 18" Michelins were on my Octavia vRS, even allowing for the profile difference, and especially so at high speeds.
  22. Apologies, I'd forgottent the thread was about non-SD card Amundsens. Actually, my post was offering advice, not looking for help! Rolls eyes, laughs at self.
  23. I just tried to download ECE 2021/2022 , valid since CW45_2021 using Chrome (Windows 10 computer) and it just wouldn't happen. It downloaded on Firefox fine. (Later - I'm politely reminded this thread is for MY21 Amundsens, mine's the 2019 model with SD card maps. Wake up, FG.)
  24. Ha, 4th to 6th October. 1991, another of my motor club weekends. Guildford, Horsham, Crawley, Leatherhead, and all B roads in between. Didn't need to exceed the speed limits to frighten myself that Saturday night Not many around at midnight on a Saturday night...
