  1. I'm not sure what Skoda want me to do with the knife :-(
  2. Well done. Money where your mouth is. I too have doubts whether it will be heavier than the current models.
  3. ha ha it doesn't translate well to Australia. When I was in Perth in 2009 a copper was trying to explain that a hire car in the hotel car park was about to get a 'canary' in the window. I was confused... shall I let you explain that one?
  4. Thanks all for your explanations, for some reason I hadn't cottoned on to the fact it wasn't cumulative, just a histogram. I assumed there would be more mk2 VRS out in the wild though.
  5. Just idle curiosity as to what is going on with the VRS.... http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/skoda_fabia_vrs_s-a#!tax 30 SORN in Q4 of 2012. Is this normal for most marques? Martin
  6. Update: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/visible-leds/6656157/ are the right ones I think (except colour) Martin For a list of 'sideled' ones use this link http://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/?searchTerm=sideled&sra=oss&r=t
  7. I'll ask the electronics chaps at work, but I always use RS components to find the part number before looking for cheapest price per unit. See if you can find them here: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/displays-optoelectronics/leds-led-accessories/visible-leds/?searchTerm=led&sort-by=default&sort-order=default&view-type=Grid Good luck Martin P.S. try asking in a non-model specific forum on this site for more help
  8. Insurance companies are the ones getting protection. How many people could be refused a layout if their headrest is not properly adjusted? My view on whiplash is that you shouldn't be able to claim until the fire brigade have to cut the roof off ;-)
  9. Another vote for the 1.4 8v. I managed average 36mpg (calculated over many years). I sold mine well into the 100k miles and apart from standard wear and tear it gave me many years of trouble free motoring. Very cheap to insure and lots of cheap ones about.
  10. Madness... I can't see that lasting very long with all the little oiks thieving anything not nailed down... Need to see a photo of it on your car.... also at £8.99 quality probably questionable
  11. What is it about this topic that gets people so heated ;-) http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/267333-fuel-tank-max-capacity-when-emptying-emergency-reserve/
  12. You aren't supposed to 'fill' the expansion tank, it is there for EXPANSION of the fuel in variable temperature bands.
  13. That's because this competition didn't include anything about reliability or failure rates... "In every category, the panellists judged each shortlisted engine using their subjective driving impressions and technical knowledge, and took into account characteristics such as fuel economy, smoothness, performance, noise and drivability" Farcical.
  14. A Fabia 2, so its probably an early 07/57, 08/58 plate, am I right? Get that belt and water pump changed ASAP. After four years the recommendation is to have it replaced regardless of mileage. Martin
  15. I have the 1.4 16v in my Fabia Mk2 (3). I don't consider it gutless, noisy or harsh in the slightest. I currently get 41mpg out of it too, and I don't drive like a grandma either. Perhaps I appreciate it more because I came from the 1.4 8v in the Fabia Mk1 Give it a test drive.
  16. I'll join the 'don't understand' club. The C220CDi AMG Sport+ is always going to be better than a Fabia, with a price tag to match. You'd have to compare that particular car with the BMW 530d and Audi A4 (and both of those [according to reviews] are better value than the Merc) Its like me saying, I really like my 1.4 Fabia 3, but went out and bought a Lambo Gallardo as the fuel cap rattled a little bit ;-) Enjoy the Merc, I am jealous... as I could only dream to be able to afford the insurance on it, and I wouldn't feel happy parking it on the streets where I live! Martin
  17. I have it on mine too. I have just lived with it, but it can be annoying when on the motorway and wanting a better view of the lane you are about to enter! Bad aero design. It had been noted on one of the motoring shows when the model was first introduced. These claim to fix the problem. http://www.superskoda.com/skoda/fabia-ii/skoda-fabia-ii-05-10-front-rear-windows-wind-rain-deflector-set Note: this was raised on here ages ago http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/210684-wind-deflectors-in-rain/ Martin
  18. The operative word was 'remind'. Did not mean to imply it should go on that site as an example.
  19. Nope, don't like it, reminds me of the BarryBoy website. But its not my car, so doesn't matter. Martin
  20. Yes this was what I was getting at. I've seen a few car blogs cover it, so don't doubt its effectiveness, just wondering how it would work in the circumstances highlighted in the manual. Would be be a pain in the backside down some really narrow Cornish roads? etc. etc.
  21. I've never owned a VRS (don't want to pay silly insurance prices, or loose my licence!) but having driven a Fabia sinse 2006, I'd agree with this. When driving hire cars (usually boring Vectras, Mondeos or Corsa) I get much less tailgating... when I'm in my Fabia they can't wait to drive their front axle into my boot!
  22. Epic... love it... now Skoda need to release this as a purchase option!
  23. Ahh yes of course it was. Constantly broken on my Dad's car too, in the end it meant the car was written off BER. Nobody has said anything on the thread to make me want to consider air suspension though! Martin
  24. What are the benefits of fitting air suspension over the OEM fitting? I remember years ago my Dad had a horrible Citroen BX with air suspension, probably the worst riding car I'd ever sat in! Martin
