  1. Hi all, a bit of an odd one now and sorry but didnt know which area to post it in. We have a couple of dogs and carry them around in crates in the back. Thinking of getting a Fabia Est approx 05/06 plate. I need some measurements if anyone can help. Width (side to side) Depth tailgate to back seats Height boot floor to top of tailgate opening. If there is a step down between bottom of tailgate apperture and boot floor, how deep is it.
  2. Thanks for the info. Do they cause any issues with the windows moving? Worried if I fit them and anything happens SUK would not honour warranty on any of the window components, not had this sort of worry for a long time on a car lol.
  3. Hi Malcster, the only ones Ive had experience with are a brand called Heko (think thats it) and they fit in the window channels. They tend to be quite a slim type and look pretty neat too. Not seen any genuine yet. Im pretty sure the door and window fitments/channels wont of changed its just when a supplier says it wont fit you have to at least check things out.
  4. Does anyone know if the doors and windows changed at all. Ive been trying to buy a set off ebay and it seems even emailing the sellers theyre all saying they wont fit my year of roomster?
  5. SSD's will give you a huge speed boost for sure and Ive seen the hybrid configuration on sale. Try "gimage x" on either a bootable cd or a bootable usb stick, will copy the whole contents across so this will cause a bit of faffing about. Good idea to get yourself a large usb hard drive to take regular backups too.
  6. Love hearing about all these old computers, how times have changed. I was a bit geeky I think because I used to play on the display models and type in a routine to flash the main screen and outer border different colours along with sounds to match on the old commodores. It was all about "peeks" and "pokes", wonder if anyone understands that? I discovered beer n women before coming back to computers and got hold of a Beeb B+ with 128k sideways ram, 512k ram disks, twin floppy disk drives, co processor and a cub monitor. Had my first ever mouse with that too, it came with an art program. What an awesome machine lol. Then along came pc's 486sx25, pentium 75 and I'll get bored typing. Used to love playing with z80 processors mounted on breadboards at college and then programing up with machine code. Got a telling off at college for chatting to a girl via the echonet network that connected all the beebs in the classroom. The good old days lol
  7. ZX81 that came as a kit for £49.95, got sent back after a couple of months because it wouldnt do square roots. Then we got a VIC20.
  8. Oh right, fair enough, the double sided tape looks a little thin thats all. How did you get the wax off the paint before sticking it down?
  9. Working late tomorrow but I'll see what I can do for you. I treated myself to a boot lip mould that sits on top of the bumper, imstructions said I need special skoda glue and special skoda templates and of course a skoda trained techie. Off to motor factors for a tube of tigerseal tomorrow lunchtime and tried the mould on the bumper and funnily enough the bumper is shaped just right.
  10. If you buy a set let me know and Ill take photos and measurements for you, just drop me a pm. Im sure they do protect to an extent and to me they seem to add to the looks too.
  11. Thats a crying shame because my S3 is virtually unuable as it is.
  12. Needs roof rails ;0) Has the extra window tints made it dark inside? Looking good.
  13. How has the cars electrics reacted to LED's? I've wondered if the car would complain about them. Good idea tho using LED's
  14. Would like fine with body moulds and roof rails, to be honest if that colour had been available when I bought I would of been tempted. Sadly Black or Silver when I bought. Anyway when it arrives you'll love it.
  15. Haha you're brave touching your new car lol. Looking forward to seeing your mods though. I had the roof rails, body moulds and mud flaps fitted at the dealership so there were no warranty complications, finished it off nicely.
  16. Can anyone recommend a Towbar Fitting Company in West Yorkshire please. Tried a company in Brighouse but took me several days to get through. When I did get through despite advertising it as a mobile service I would need to take it in and leave it for the day. Asked about electrics kit they use and he said they use their own completely seperate to the vehicle wiring, I asked if it was the type that you unplug from the lights and it connects between vehicle loom and lights and he said no. So lost all faith in the, straight away.
  17. Nice neat little project indeed. I've played around with APRS units using VHF radio equipment, they report direct via base stations either locally or can go through a gateway and out to the net (www.aprs.fi) is the most popular site. Got to say though yours is defo the best option for the majority of people just wanting tracking.
  18. Good news! These electronic systems are a pain, far too clever for their own good.
  19. How did you get on with the MOT? Hope you got it sorted. Wasn't the radio swap a straight unplug and plug in job?
  20. Well now Ive had athe Roomster for a couple of weeks with it's standard Swing stereo I can confirm that it has the aux input socket down behind the handbrake lever but not used it yet. The big let down is the lack of bluetooth connectivity for handsfree more than audio connection. The Radio upgrade is too costly so not an option, have seen a company called xcarlink which sell a device that connects to the cd changer input of the radio which looks interesting as it gives bluetooth handsfree and audio connectivity.
  21. Don't forget if you are buying a new Car of any sort until the engine has a few miles under it's belt you'll not achieve the full MPG or power for that matter. Have to say from what I've seen of my TSI can't wait until it's losened up a bit.
  22. True ally rails do look nicer but the price was a whole lot more than mine. The black rails do look smart and finish the cars off nicely, I also opted for body moulds too and have to say the whole package looks great on my silver 9995 special.
  23. Having recently joined this forum I have only just got around to reading this thread. I like most people am totally amazed at this project. Paul you have created such an amazing vehicle just for the love of it. A simple well done seems so inadequate for this project. Would love to hear how the car is running.
  24. Has anyone ever fitted a towbar to a Roomster? Are they an easy DIY job? Have been quoted £276.00 for a single electric by a local company who come out to your house to fit it. Just short of £500 for a detachable version, nice but not sure it is so nice. Thanks
