  1. On both Mk2 and Mk4 Octavia's I removed the A pillar cover left and right successfully using the trim tool that came with my Dash Cam, I then routed the plug to enable it to plug into the (cigarette socket), accessory so I could turn the camera on and off using a switched plug allowing live feed when the ignition is turned off, hope this helps.
  2. sounds suspiciously like a possible loose connection or corrosion in the plug to the caravan, had this issue a couple of times over 3 decades of towing. šŸ¤”
  3. Or as I have done to allow car cam function, use a switched plug a lot easier than unplugging and easy to retro fit instead of the accessory plug. Gives me the option of recording when away from thhe vehicle.
  4. Is it possibly charging when braking and accelerating šŸ¤”
  5. Had my 2020 1.5 mk4 Octavia se estate 6 weeks, and can not fault it having moved up from a mk 2 estate. unless I’m in the minority šŸ¤” at 39,000 miles no issues or problems, I’m looking forward to talking it to over 90,000 miles the same as my 55 plate mk2 1.6 fsi has achieved thus far trouble free.
  6. You could try the dealer route as I did but they but they held my vehicle to give it a health check and a valet, which I had not requested and was not told about when I booked for Key programming. I had a medical appointment booked so needed to leave within the hour, they listened and curtailed what they were doing so I could leave. They offered me a free valet in recompense. I sent an email to head office suggesting than anything other than requested and booked should be mentioned at the time of booking. This I think they now do. I therefore suggest any local key cutting company's to supply and programme one for you.
  7. Possibly input shaft. That'll cost you.šŸ™
  8. turn off ignition and pull wiper stalk down. opposite procedure when wipers replaced.

  11. any skoda franchise should be able to supply the information if you provide the reg and vin number
  12. you are futureproofing the car by getting it inspected/replaced you've saved on the purchase price, it is what it is.
  13. I have a 55 plate 1.6 fsi and have replaced 3 coil packs since owning it from 2012, never had to replace spark plugs apart from service recommendations, or injectors. Whenever the check engine warning illuminates I pull over when safe, check fault codes and replace the relevant ignition coil. I have always carried a spare and spark plug just in case as I tow a folding camper to rallies all over the UK. I have put Redex in the fuel when filling up and have no problems with emissions at MOT time. Give it a try or try Depitane. Good luck.
  14. Just monitor it and if it occurs again get a fault code read.
  15. Acquired my 55 plate 1.6 fsi November 2012 so coming up to ten years. Comfortable safe reliable motor always passes the MOT.
  16. I sent off to ebay for replacement aluminium adhesive replacement stickers, do the job nicely without having to remove the wheels to pop out the caps.
  17. 4 x 4 a brilliant all rounder, tows a treat, "A wolf in sheep's clothing".
  18. I run an extension lead from garage to car to a charger placed onto the upturned battery cover in the space behind the nearside headlight, charger is connected to terminals. the extension lead is visible as it is routed from the wind screen scuttle, so I know to remove it before driving. Works for me.
  19. ive had this for the 8 years I've owned mine, wont start after 4 days, during lockdown I have wired up a charger to a time switch that charges for an hour every other day, works for me.
  20. Never had a problem, wouldn't be without them, they do as designed.
  21. I'm with Liger1956, never had a problem, easiest solution remove the retaining bolt and plate.
