  1. Sorry I can't help with your install, but I do have some very bright LED bulbs in the roof of my car. as well as the boot. All I fitted were some quality LED bulbs that fitted straight into where the old bulbs came out of. I think mine are as bright as you would need them. I have the same car as you as well.
  2. The standard hardware works well on my Stage one mapped VRS Octavia. It's making 329bhp without any breathing problems.
  3. I bought my colour coded and all black badges from superskoda. A bit expensive but good quality.
  4. I am sure now after doing around 300 miles it has settled a little with a bit less vibration on tickover. Unless of course it's just that I have got used to it, but I am sure it's better. There is a cut ridge in the road local to me just as you accelerate off a roundabout. Previously it tended to cause that bang if you were on the power at the time you hit the cut in the road. You did not have to accelerate hard either to cause it. The other day I drove up to that roundabout and did the same thing, accelerate off it to the cut in the road, although again nowhere near flat out. This time no bang underneath, so there is some improvement now after the insert has been fitted. Must push it a bit harder next time to see if the banging has been fully cured. Mind you, I am more than happy with the results so far. As for slicker-feeling gear changes, no change there. Could that be as my car has only done 21k miles, everything is still fairly new and still tight anyway?
  5. Punch it into Google and quite a lot come up.
  6. I replaced them, along with LED bulbs in the interior roof. I have in the past bought some cheaper ones, but they seem to keep glowing a little even when switched off. I then bought some more expensive ones again from ebay. In 2019 they were £15 for 4. The make was AUXITO and they have been fine ever since. The LED bulbs are far superior to standard bulbs.
  7. Got the good tyres already. Michelin PS4S in 235/35/19. Slightly wider than the standard 225/35/19 to get more rubber to the ground, as well as trying to protect the alloys from pothole damage.
  8. Yes still the original clutch with it so far managing the extra power no problem. Mind you, I am not one for flat out standing starts and use the higher revs when I want good acceleration, rather than use too much torque in the lower revs.
  9. Today I fitted the mount insert. I went for the red one. Usually it's red for diesels and I have a petrol engine, but I wanted as little vibration as possible and the red is a softer one. There is of course a bit of vibration on tickover which is slightly annoying, but I hope it settles down a bit over time. In reverse as expected, again a bit of vibration, but no worse than on tickover and how often do you drive in reverse anyway! The car also had a sound on start up, which was a lower tone than usual. I took it for a good drive up the road, giving it hard acceleration, holding it at 50mph in 6th gear, even holding it in top gear at 30mph. I found once the car got moving there was no real difference to how it was before the insert was fitted. Will have to try to find an uneven road surface to try to create those bangs underneath the car I had before. Maybe now those bangs are a thing of the past. I will update this thread once I get a few miles on the clock, which of course might be a while with the bare few miles I am doing at the moment due to this bloomin virus.
  10. Although I have worked on cars for a number of decades, I was even an apprentice mechanic in my youth, I am leaving this job to my local garage. I have all of the above apart from some good ramps. A girlfriend of mine around 1972 bought me my Britool torque wrench, which I still have. Not sure how accurate it will be now though. I just don't fancy getting underneath the car with one hydraulic jack and 2 axle stands, trying to undo as well as do up a bolt that has to be bleeding tight. Half an hours labour charge at the garage will do me.
  11. Fantastic mate. You just can't beat this site and the guys on here for information.
  12. Hi Ads230. You don't happen to know the part number of the bolt that goes up through the mount do you?
  13. I have been thinking and have made a decision at last. I am going to try a Powerflex red poly insert. This one I have read is the softest and is meant for the diesel motor, but my thinking is, fit it to a petrol motor and I might get rid of the odd banging with only slight or hopefully none of the annoying vibration issues. I just really hate that banging underneath! If it ends up after a period of trial to cause a vibration problem I can't live with, out it comes to get back to standard. It's worth a go and I will keep you all updated as to my progress.
  14. Yes mate, same car same power same tyre width. I can't seem to make a decision as yet. Have been on some Audi forums and a few of the petrol guys have been fitting the Powerflex red poly insert. Usually the red one goes in the diesel cars, but as it is softer than the yellow poly bush, they say they are getting less vibration. Just looking to make sure I get the part number correct first. Mine is a version 2, or also described as B. OEM part number is 5Q0198 037B. It looks like the correct Powerflex poly insert part number should then be, PFF85-833 for yellow and PFF85-832R for the red one. Must make my mind up this week.
  15. When I fitted my deflectors a couple of the windows would not go fully up on their own. They went so far caught a tight spot where the deflectors were and then went back down again. So I simply held the window button while they were going up and at the same time pushed up on the side of the window with my palm. Once the window got to the top with my assistance, it worked perfect afterwards.
  16. Have already done so, but hardly any members have the fitted the APR Billet one.
  17. Thank you for an extremely informative response. I know I need version 2 mount, as have already got under the car to find out. I am just in two minds whether to go for it or not. You may have seen another post of mine concerning bangs underneath the car when accelerating and going over a piece of very uneven road. It really does bang hard sometimes and I wonder over long term whether damage will occur because of this. Of course this started after I had the car mapped. Never had this problem with my previous mapped MK2 Octavia VRS. It can even bang when accelerating half throttle, when you hit an inch or two deep cut in the road. So do I put up with the odd bang and get an overall smooth ride, or fit a dogbone insert to vastly reduce the bangs underneath and put up with a bit of vibration. Decisions, decisions! PS- I never get this banging problem when accelerating hard on a smooth road mind. I do however have slightly wider 235/35/19 Mitchelin PS4S tyres, which give me the good grip I am after.
  18. Hi I am looking at fitting a dogbone mount insert. I have already read numerous posts here on the subject on different colour poly ones verses Billet inserts. I am leaning towards the APR one. I am expecting some initial vibration issues after fitting though. I would just like to know how long the worst of the vibration lasts and how much better is it after a few weeks. Not sure I can live with too much vibration, as I do like a smooth drive.
  19. Thanks, yes the car does go quite well. I also had my previous VRS mapped, as well as a number of other upgrades, suspension, anti- roll bars, exhaust etc. That MK2 really did then handle very well. However, getting a stage one map on a MK3, gives you far more power than on a MK2, if that is what you decide to do with your next car. I just love these cars. Just in case you still go with a MK2, it cost me around £650 at my local independent garage, to get those chains and tensioner fitted. Good luck with your car search mate.
  20. All I can tell you is that my previous Octavia was a late 2011 VRS TSI Mk2 FL. It certainly did not have the latest chain tensioner at the time. As a preventative measure, I had new tensioner and chains fitted at 50k miles and it ran perfect till I traded it in at 104k miles for my present VRS. From what I have read in the past, the new more reliable tensioner was not fitted on these cars till around the middle of 2012.
  21. Hi all I post this message every now and again, just in case the present owner of my old Octavia VRS, MT61 NBM has joined the site. It was traded in early last year. It would be good to know who is now the lucky owner of my old excellent motor.
  22. The trouble with TPS near me, they have now stopped selling to members of the public. Shame as I used to get a lot of parts there.
  23. They are really cheap on Ebay, but I personally am never sure whether they are genuine from that site. The old saying, buy cheap buy twice springs to mind.
  24. I usually get my Bosch Aerotwin wiper blades from Euro Car Parts when they have a deal on. Excellent blades and with a discount code, a good price. I have just looked on their website and they do have a deal on at the moment. With the discount code of "MID60", a twin set of front wiper blades are £35.39 for my Octavia.
  25. From everything I have read, my fl 230 just has a standard diff. I have the same screen as you Maggle. My car is the same model, the same year and even the same colour as yours.
