  1. When you import a new collection of POI on the Skoda MyDestinations site there is a check box to add a sound alert. Theoretically if you have a speed camera database you can put that into MyDestinations using one of the supported formats, tick the sound alert box and then the site produces a zip file which you need to unzip to the root of a blank SD card. Then put the SD card in the car and go into the NAV menu option to update and it finds the POIs and uploads them to the car. The thing you can't do is change the amount of warning you get when you reach a POI that has a sound alert. It's a fixed value (I'm not sure what that value is). Now I say theoretically becuase I tried using MyDestinations for a camera database and it either crashed in the web page or an error occurs when trying to update the satnav. I still use MyDestinations for my own personal POIs (about 200 locations) and it all works fine. As soon as I tried a cam database with over 5000 locations I got the problems I mentioned. BillyJim uses software called 'POIbase' to get speed cams into the car navigation system. It's probably a better bet than MyDestinations but I didn't get on with the software so I use an app on my smartphone instead. I got CamerAlert - http://www.cameralert.com/ which uses the pocketgpsworld database for a £20 annual fee. The Phone connects to bluetooth so I get audio alerts through the car speakers and they are spoken alerts telling me the type of camera and speed restriction. You can also set how far in advance you recieve the warnings. I've been using it over the last few weeks now and it's been spot on. Plus, you can turn off the map mode so it uses no mobile data, just a GPS signal. I run the app, chuck the phone into the car phonebox and it's all set. The database gets updated regularly too.
  2. There's some info in this thread on the Octy III forum: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/375176-smartgate-wifi-direct/
  3. I have Andriod on a Galaxy S6 Egde Plus and found the same problem as you. I could only connect to Smartgate using Wi-Fi and nothing came up when browsing Wi-Fi Direct connections on the phone. I didn't find the app very useful so I haven't bothered trying to find a solution. If anyone does have the solution I'd like to know though.
  4. Cheers, all makes sence. Although I will be having fixed services I take your point about 504 being in there so I'll buy 504 to top up with. So the Halfords link was correct - I'll get some Castrol Edge 5W30 Oil.
  5. The manual doesn't state what oil grade is preferred. What would you put in a 280 TSI - 5W30 or 5W40? Found these online - both are VW 502 00: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60457-castrol-edge-titanium-5w-40-fst-advanced-fully-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/engine-oil/castrol-edge-5w30-oil-4l Edit - used reg number entered on halfords site which showed the 5W30 but the spec of the oil doesn't say VW 502! There is also a 0W40 Castrol on the Opie Oils site which is the correct spec. Any advice appreciated on what to buy
  6. Hi All, Reading the manual for my 280 TSI it says use VW 502 00 specification oil. It says to check oil when 'The engine operating temperature is reached.' So every time I want to check oil I have to drive it around a bit before hand? Seems rather inconvenient! What is the difference in checking when cold or at temp? Also, given that oil specification what would you use to top up? I want the best oil but not sure what to buy. I like to have some handy just in case. I haven't bothered checking the oil level since picking the car up but I'm planning to check it this weekend having covered 900 odd miles. Cheers.
  7. Click the volume button on the steering wheel (e.g. push it in rather than scrolling it up or down). Click in again to un mute
  8. No, I set the memory by pressing 'set' then pressing and holding number against which I want to store the setting until the 'bong' sounds.
  9. If you are not sitting in the seat you can select the desired memory and you do not have to hold your finger on it. I have to do this because SWMBO is short and I'd have to be some sort of contortionist to get into the seat before adjusting it Just read the manual - doesn't matter if you are sitting in the seat or not. The only way a short press works is if the ignition is off and the drivers door is open, otherwise you need to keep your finger on it.
  10. My order was placed on 08.01.2016 @ 14:54. My tracking number is now working at least. Last status update was that package has left Germany Neuenstein. Maybe I get it sometime next week....
  11. What plan did you get? I've not set up mine because prices still seem too much for the amount I'll use it. I got it more for future proofing as I expect prices will fall and allowances increase. What happens if you drive over to Europe?
  12. Yes, I think a VCDS adaptation would be the only way. The manual specifically states that the Columbus unit switches off for key operated ignition when the key is removed but for KESSY only when the drivers door is opened. Not sure for what reason why it is different between the two but there you go!
  13. I think I need to get a Shell loyalty card. "Lady Scarlett" is drinking the good stuff: V-Power Nitro+ At this rate I'll be drinking the less premium beer to keep the lass happy! On the plus side only 150 miles left for running in.
  14. I don't know if this will sort it but based on my experience of the Columbus system if you change the volume of something as it is happening you adjust the volume of that item. For example if the navigation instructions are speaking and I adjust the volume it adjusts the nav loudness. So, if you can't find the menu option try adjusting the volume down when the traffic announcement is active.
  15. The manual suggests only one press should turn off both engine and ignition: Stop › Stop the vehicle » page 134, Parking. › Press the button » Fig. 162 on page 128 briefly. The engine and the ignition are switched off simultaneously. Emergency shut-down If necessary and in exceptional cases, the engine may even be turned off while driving. › Press the starter button » Fig. 162 on page 128 for longer than 1 second or twice within 1 second. After the emergency stop of the engine, the steering lock will remain unlocked. CAUTION Do not switch the engine off immediately at the end of your journey after the engine has been operated over a prolonged period at high loads but leave it to run at an idling speed for about 1 minute. This prevents any possible accumulation of heat when the engine is switched off. Note After switching off the ignition, the radiator fan may intermittently continue to operate for approx. 10 minutes.
  16. Dealer has confirmed coat hanger and headrest hook not available as yet for Superb III. Also, if anyone is wanting a beige door pocket waste bin the part number is incorrect in the brochure. It is actually 5JA 061107 WC4 (and not 5JA 061104 WC4 as printed in the brochure). They are £10, even though I specced one on my order which was £20! Just want one for the other side but they are on backorder at the moment.
  17. Yes, I did read the brochure but it looks to me like that applies specifically to the multimedia holder because it can also be located in the rear arm rest without the need of an adapter. It's rather ambiguous if you ask me. Anyway, I'll be finding out when my parts dealer gets back to me. I've phoned today but the parts aren't coming up on the system so he's investigating. It maybe that the hook and coat hanger aren't available yet.
  18. When listening to music and using the nav system etc. during driving, once parked up and switching off the engine / ignition the multimedia unit stays active until I open the drivers door. Is it possible to have it switch off when the ignotion is switched off? It's not that big a deal but I do like the message 'don't forget your phone' on the display when it shuts down. However, as it only shuts down when I am opening the driver door I am already getting out of the car and not looking at the screen.
  19. Has anoyone ordered either of these: 3V0 061 126 - Hook for the headrest 3V0 061 127 - Coat hanger Did you also need to order the adapter for the headrest? 3V0 061 128
  20. Anyone's stuff turned up yet? And did your tracking number work?
  21. I've started using the picture viewer on the Columbus for the amusement of passengers. I had some general landscape 1080p files which I use as slideshow on my laptop. Popped them onto my SD card and play them as slideshow on the in-car display. You can still use navigation and have music playing at the same time! Plus the display stays on whilst driving. Selected 30 second (maximum) display for slideshow time in the settings.
  22. I just found the door space cubby holes for my reflective jackets. I did have them in the elastic pockets on the back of the front seats but then I happened accross something in the manual that mentions them. http://skoda-auto.cm/en/mini-apps/owners-manuals/pages/superb.aspx?requestOwnersManualOnlineVersion=en/Superb_3V/11-2015/Manual/Superb/online&requestOwnersManualLanguage=en&requestOwnersManualEditionDate=11-2015#!pageId=00608
  23. Has anyone tried the SuperSkoda lights for the doors? http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-III/Superb-III-MEGA-POWER-LED-door-safety-lights-WHITE-WHITE-KI-R I assume the front and back are the same size? So if I replace all door lights I'd need two sets?
  24. My VIN shows no recall actions from that link.
