Low frequency 'boom' in cabin
kfckfc replied to DaveBarr's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Oasisphonic - who were the second dealership. I have a booming issue and it would be good for me to take it there (if close enough).- 1,541 replies

Vrs mirror drip on to door?
kfckfc replied to Graemer147's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
On a VRS, isn't there suppose to be a ground-light where those holes are drilled? -

Amudsen vs Columbus + canton
kfckfc replied to willovrs's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
The Amundsen cannot play DVD/videos files, in fact the MIB2 version which you will probably get does even have a CD player. If you can afford it I would upgrade to Columbus which can play both CD, DVD, video files (MPEG, WMV, DivX, Xvid) and has 8" screen, smart link and colour maxidot for the dash. -
Fixed price service deal two year old VRS DSG
kfckfc replied to Auchinclossvrs's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
It sounds like good value as I paid £378 for 1 minor, 1 major and brake fluid and MOT (I am on a fixed plan with Skoda as per post #3). A plus-side of the Skoda plan is that it can be redeemed at any Skoda dealer, might want to check the limitations of the Arnold clark plan as a lot can change in four years. -
My Octavia review on caradvice.com.au
kfckfc replied to hobbie2k's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
UK 'S' spec. has single zone AC too, just gives buyers more choice. -
Just looking through the auctions and came across a broken O3 :( http://auctions.partmart.co.uk/vehicle-list/details/2015-skoda-octavia-greenline-iii-tdi-1598cc-turbo-diesel-manual-6-speed-5-door-5-door-estate-at-car-transplants-car-transplants/332141?x=0&type=9&make=SKODA&trns=0&fuel=0&catc=0&dist=0&sort=0&srch=

+1 on the spare wheel and folding mirrors which incl. auto dimming If you can afford it, go for Columbus instead of Amundsen. Also Intelligent light assist with high beam control which includes rain sensor and auto-dimming rear view mirror; the light assist will compiment the xenons very well. If you don't want the auto-dimming rear view mirror then it is probably not worth getting as high beam control can be enabled by someone with VCDS as you have lane assist.

I'll take 10 for £5 if you still have any. Thanks
-
Definitely worth having the spare, Canton is not affected as the canton sub is in a box mounted to the LHS of the boot above the floor level.
-
Thank you both. Xpower - did you make any changes or stay with the D3S OEM?
-
If you can get that spec for £23774 on 0% I would be inclined to go new. When you look at the price of a nearly new vRS and factor interest and resale value it makes more sense financially. Plus you get the spec you want with full 3 yr warranty and that all important 'new car coming' buzz. P.S. Don't forget to add the space saver spare wheel (£100 now or £280 retrofit)

Hi, I have been searching on the forum and at automotive bulb suppliers but cannot find the answer. Does anyone know which type of bulbs are used for the main and dipped beam of the bi-xenon headlights with AFS e.g. D1R/D1S/D2R/D2S/D3S. Thanks.

Any Advice On Buying A Skoda III vRS
kfckfc replied to BATVANVRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Hi BATVANVRS, +1 for the DSG. Some issues often posted on the forum are: Low Frequency Boom - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/294540-low-frequency-boom-in-cabin/?hl=%20above%20%20rear%20%20window Crack in paint above rear window - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/318832-dispute-with-dealer-paint-cracked/?hl=%2Babove+%2Brear+%2Bwindow#entry3818649 Not coming out of reverse (for manual boxes) - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/359856-mk3-octavia-not-always-disengaging-reverse-gear/?hl=%2Bgoing+%2Binto+%2Bfirst#entry4307306 Not engaging gear after coasting in ECO mode (DSG only but most have been resolved by the dealer) - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/293499-vrs-tdi-dsg-not-engaging-back-in-gear-in-eco-mode-after-coasting/page-4?hl=reverse There are a few listed in the generic post below that might be worth a read - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/283834-problemsfaults/?hl=%20above%20%20rear%20%20window -
Bolero (6.5" screen) is std on the VRS. Amundsen is a Bolero with Sat Nav and a £755 option on the VRS. The top of the range Sat Nav (Columbus with 8" screen and many other extras) is also an option on the VRS @ £1600. Cruise control is std on the VRS but Adaptive Cruise Control is a £765 option. The June 2015 brochure (download at SUK site) is easier to interpret than the online configurator. Hope that helps.

+1 on what Brad1.8T has said. Michelin are generally more expensive but have very good balance of grip/wear and also quiet. I currently have Primacy HP but am likely to go for Pilot Sport 3 or the Good Year Eagle F1 AS2 when I change. I personally would not recommend the RE050A as I found them to wear too quickily and grip was not reflective of the price or wear rate (although that was on a MR2 Roadster not an O3)

The car status screen access via the 'Car' button (3rd one down on the right) on the radio can display low level error messages, that screen may indicate an error when the problem occurs?

Sat nav and bonnet chips
kfckfc replied to undercovercarrot's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Regarding sat nav, it is because you are using a Mac. Post #122 and onwards of the link should help you. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/316642-new-maps-now-available-to-download/page-5 -

window wipers - is this normal?
kfckfc replied to oasisphonic's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
+1 for Autoglym, both are good particularly the glass polish. Halfords still have the 3 for 2 offer on which covers both these products (Fast Glass can be used on plastics too so can be used on our headlights and black trims on the B pillars). -
