New (to us) Karoq
Nice colour, had 2 Skoda in petrol blue, one of which we had for over 8 years. I wouldn't worry about the sure-footedness, but you might find the new generation of Eco summer tyres (which are fitted to give good fuel consumption in warm weather) are not great in the wet below +10c. It's not just Karoq it happens to most makes because of modern summer tyre formulation. If you don't change to all season or winter tyres then you are likely to suffer cracking of the summer tyres within 2-3 years too, start as tiny cracks in cold and become bigger.

Rear mounted cheap 2-bicycle carrier
Officially there are only 2 types of bike carrier : roof bars attachment and one that fits on the tow bar. The tailgate hinges (and the spoiler) are like most modern cars not designed to carry heavy external loads, especially with the wind drag increasing the dynamic loading. When you say grandsons bikes, I am not sure if you mean kids bikes. I suspect a couple of these on a strap type one will be ok. But if you are thinking of hanging 2 or 3 adult bikes from it then not a good idea. Does your car have roof rails, if so might be sensible to buy a couple of small ratchet straps (the ones about width of a trouser belt) and loop it around the back of each rail. Something like this https://www.toolstation.com/thorsen-endless-tie-down-set/p68419

Lead time Skoda Octavia VRS estate
Upto 52 weeks is just that. Anytime before. Recently seems they have cleared the backlog of petrol ones, and now nearer 15 weeks. But if dealer had said 15 weeks, and it was 51 weeks, then you would probably have been more disapproving.

Superb Mk4
You would need to be fanatic of excessively complicated engineering to want to buy a TDI with emissions equipment meeting euro7 The way I see it, is that more complications are just more things to go wrong, early Superb diesels plodded on for years, but I dread to think of cost of keeping one of these new complicated ones going for 10-15 years.

Does octavia 3 vrs 245hp have opf?
From memory shipping was about 1.5 months in 2018, so probably built April 2018, but might have been earlier if came from stock. Plenty of cars were built back in 2018 that were not specific orders, even an factory order because wanted certain options were generally under 3 months. I think they were introduced around late May or June, before the annual factory shutdown, as didn't want lots of unsold cars when WTLP rules came in. The exact date might have varied by engine size.

Superb Mk4
Might (or might not) help, but both Scala and Kamiq facelift have been announced, and various images and video including interior. As it appears lot of latest design of features and in the cabin is common to both, there is good chance similar thinking will apply to revised Superb https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-kits/skoda-scala-and-skoda-kamiq-press-kit/ https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/skoda-world/the-new-skoda-scala-seen-through-a-designers-eyes/ https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/skoda-world/the-new-skoda-kamiq-seen-through-a-designers-eyes/ Interiors seem to have been spun out of Enyaq Essence spec (basic cloth) Selection studio spec (black cloth upholstery) Selection Loft (grey upholstery) Selection Lodge (suedia upholstery with copper design bits) Selection Dynamic (suedia and dark) Monte Carlo with carbon leather upholstery, rather dark interior

New Karoq 2023 fuel mileage range display
Yes totally normal with virtually all VW Group cars including Skoda Fuel gauge doesn't move for first 80-110 miles when full. Also tends not to notice if put small amount in (below about 5 litres) Range is just an estimate based on recent consumption, I had a Skoda where after driving in urban traffic would show 380 miles when fully filled with petrol, but showed over 500 miles when been in rural areas. Didn't know about app, probably a conversion from Km, but never used app to check consumption.

Tyresome problem?
Seems to have been common problem for those who used summer tyres during last Decembers extremely cold weather when temperatures of -8c or below were common. Modern summer tyre compounds are quite hard to give good Eco performance, and at those cold temperatures tyres go hard and will crack under load, you might not notice the tiny cracks at first, but once they have started, the surface cracks will grow. Some might waffle about sun and UV damaging the tyres, but myself and others I know who swap to winter tyres have summer tyres that are upto 6 years old without any cracks, but others who didn't swap are seeing cracks on summer spec tyres under 2 years old, rather suggests the damage is mainly done by leaving summer tyres on in cold weather, then using the car. If our summer tyres only used in months of strong sun don't crack, then clearly the sun isn't main cause of cracking. All season and winter tyres have series of slit like grooves to avoid the surface being stressed to cracking point when cold. You won't have experienced it few years ago, because the compound was more mixed season, but now manufacturers have all season ranges, they have made summer tyres more summer like (because Eco fuel economy is prime requirement nowadays). Simple solution, buy all season tyres next time.

THE Winter Tyres Thread
Personally, I would be loath to put them on and off rims 14 times (twice a year for 7 years). A good tyre fitter might be ok, but many fitters do not take much care and rather snatch at the tyre beads when taking them over rims. If keeping 7 years, I would be inclined to have second set of rims. This is rims brochure, depending on what you have, the winter rims from Superb might be ok for Kodiaq https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b For reference there is also a complete wheel (rim + winter tyre brochure)

Tyre Replacement Reccomendations
Firstly, get the alignment sorted before or when tyres are changed, shouldn't be wearing like that unless you are throwing car into roundabouts (and if you are then whatever anyone recommends is going to wear) Then decide if you want a safe tyre to get you home whatever the weather or if you want a sporty tyre that will be poor in cold wet weather, (the all season vs summer tyre debate). Will leave it to others for summer sporty tyre, but this would be my all season shortlist : Goodyear vector 4season Gen 3 Vredestein Quatrac Continental All season contact 2 (brand new, but version 1 was good) Falken Euro all season AS210 Have heard mixed comments about wear on Hankook kinergy 4S2 and Michelin cross climate 2, so would be wary of both of these Bridgestone has a new Turanza all season 6 (which might not yet be in shops), and another possible is Pirelli Cintuato all season SF2 (which is apparently very quiet).

TSi fuel economy
Fuel Economy can be badly affected by traffic, about 4 years ago, did same commute in SW London every day, at same time, on route with quite number of traffic lights. At time was getting about 37mpg indicated at end of journey, but when I didn't do it in rush hour was nearer 45mpg. Conversely one day was bad accident and lots of stationary traffic, took nearly hour longer and averaged something like 28mpg. Now I live in rural Wiltshire regularly see over 50mpg (and occasionally 60mph) for same car, so basically where you live affects it about 40%. And I can get over double my lowest figure. Mine is a 1.0tsi DSG (but not an Octavia) and experiments on my then regular commute suggested E5 super unleaded gave about 8% better mileage (rural) upto nearer 14% (urban) than using E10 95ron Filled up yesterday, unleaded was 138.9p/l, super was 148.9, 10p more which is 7% more expensive, so buying super unleaded is no brainer with a 1.0 tsi. I don't really know why the 3pot tsi is so much better with super unleaded but probably because it pulls better from low revs, so gearbox doesn't need to change down as much.

Karoq Order
Remember the PCP contribution comes from VW Finance, the dealer discount is a completely separate thing out of their selling margin (difference between list price and the wholesale price dealer buys it for) Some sharp talking salespeople might pretend they are linked, but getting the advertised contribution from Finance Co shouldn't affect how much margin they are prepared to share as a discount to get a sale. If dealer is messing about rolling eyes, ask them directly which cars they have on order for stock, (stock is for sale, not yet sold, not for their own staff as playthings), no dealer has no stock (even if not physically on the premises), they are not some dark store internet fulfilment warehouse, if they were might as well be ordering online and bypassing the dealer and paying nearer wholesale price.

Options on Winter Alloys/wheels ?
Skoda, along with VW, Audi, Seat generally use 5 hole rims with 57.1mm centre bore. There are 2 sizes, 100PCD (bolt spacing) used on smaller cars eg Fabia, Scala, Kamiq and bigger 112PCD used on Octavia, Karoq, Superb etc There is a Skoda wheels brochure https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b note Octavia mk4 is shown as Roman numerals IV (do not confuse with hybrid iV) There is also brochure of wheels with tyres fitted https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/d1040b95-40f0-431a-95ed-d531f289c13f Use the brochure to check the offsets and wheel sizes. I believe they can all be ordered through parts Dept, but probably cheaper to order tyres from an internet tyre supplier. You will need to ask parts Dept for prices of your shortlist (parts codes are in brochure) I have Borbet rims for my winter wheels, never had any problems with them, and seem to be cheaper than VW Group charge, they have a handy will they fit configurator on their website, where put in make and model and it filters to what is suitable https://www.borbet.de/en/configurator#409906585!7ED9396

Cannot refuel!!
Is there an anti-siphon valve that is stuck closed The petrol station pumps have a pressure sensor and if fuel looks like it can't go in, will shut off the flow, to avoid spillages

SIII 2017 L&K 150TDI ~100k miles - what's it really worth?
Ultimately it is worth what someone will pay. You can try a few websites like motorway or webuyanycar and get a ballpark, or simply take it to a local car dealer and get a price. Not clear to me if you are selling it because you want a company car, or if it is not yours to sell (no one should be able to dictate your private vehicle). If you were selling it to a relative I would split the difference between trade in and what it will go on a forecourt as, probably about £1700-2300 difference on a 98k mile car

Winter Wheel Pictures & Recommendations
I have Borbet Y rims for my winter wheels on my Seat Arona, Borbet rims seem to be decent. I got them (along with winter tyres, delivered as 4 complete wheels) from Reifen. Can get price on their website (but possibly shopping around will save a few Euros) https://www.reifen.com/en/Rims/Alu/Skoda

Going from repair kit to a spare wheel. Octavia Mk 3
Yes, the new foam is round, and fits over the centre of the wheel, it has various slots for the jack, wheel brace, tow hook, wheel nut cover tweezers and centre cap puller. There is also a bolt with thumbwheel that stops the spare sliding around, can't remember if this comes with polystyrene and toolkit. I suspect the hole for it is under your rectangular tray. EDIT just seen it is in the photo @Carlston did in post2

Superb Mk4
@Paulinkeighley I agree the Superb is not a cheap car, range now starts at £31,325 and a 280 Sportline estate is now £46,595 (before adding options)

Awkward noise when starting the car
Try switching the climate control manually to each setting in turn: feet, windscreen etc, allowing about 30 seconds between each, also try max and min temperature From your description sounds like one of the motorised flaps, and this might force it to move. If it still doesn't afterwards then a flap needs fixing.
