  1. @Bryfly Fingers between handle and door to unlock Finger (only one needed) by rectangular bit on outside (if start waving other fingers around the handle it will unlock again, as don’t actually have to touch the handle). Stand by the boot, and will unlock boot only (for putting shopping in), so don’t walk around the back of the car and pause as might get unlocked boot.
  2. Where I used to live were couple of speed humps, and owners of lowered cars used to look like so uncool trying to pussyfoot over the bumps at about half a mile per hour. People would always look, either because the person behind would honk in frustration at their slowness, or the screeching sound as the spoilers scraped the surface. Still if people enjoy looking like uncool idiot, let them lower their cars.
  3. Sounds like the malfunction caused it to fail safe and slow the car But person behind wasn’t expecting car to brake and nearly hit it. I think anyone following that crashes into a slowing car in front is usually assumed to be liable (driving too close, driving without attention etc)
  4. Hi, have a look at what I wrote 13 March in this thread, it’s similar to something I wrote few months ago (and that person PM’d me few weeks later to thank me, as having the facts had got him his refund). Sounds like dealer has already had their chance to fix problem, but didn’t do so https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/491081-had-enough/ Don’t let them try and pretend not a valid claim, or they need to wait for Skoda to ok it etc. They are just wrong answers (or to put it bluntly lies) For clarity you have no dispute with finance company, so they have no obligation to assist, but will on conclusion will need refunding. Good Luck
  5. The Department of Transport has changed the electric car grant was £3000 and applied to cars under £50,000 now £2500 and applies to cars under £35,000 I believe prices are normally quoted net of the grant But as many Enyaq's are likely to exceed the £35,000 before grant price will effectively go up £3000 I suspect the extra £3000 will be a surprise to those already ordered (most sales orders have small print clause that if taxes etc change, buyer is liable for rates in force at time of delivery or invoicing) https://www.gov.uk/government/news/plug-in-car-van-and-truck-grant-to-be-targeted-at-more-affordable-models-to-allow-more-people-to-make-the-switch I don't think configurator has been changed yet to reflect these changes .
  6. There are a number of other threads on towbars Model year 21 cars have a very complicated locked electrical system so retro fitting and doing the coding properly is only possible at specialists. This limited supply also means isn’t that cheap. Some people have ended up with lot of hassle getting the unlocking codes and ended up paying more than factory option. Fully fitted and coded is likely to be £500+ but full retractable one might be nearer £800 Rather a shame your dealer found you a car without tow bar prep, unless you were in a hurry would have been better if they could have ordered one from factory, or updated one of their orders for stock that is already in factory queue (but not yet at locked options stage). I would talk to your dealer to see if they can add the tow bar, they might subcontract it to a specialist anyway From the numbers of similar queries (and a rather unscientific test where I once looked in local car park and found about 14% or 1 in 7 of cars had towbars), I do wonder why so few seem to have towbar prep.
  7. You can still get a vRS, and the plug in hybrid version works very well for company car tax (and looking Eco / green) So look at the hybrids if your company car has to appear to be green (alas you can’t have it in dragon green to score extra green points)
  8. The brochure makes it clear (on page 31 of 33) If you have variable servicing will be between 9000 and 20,000 miles, or upto 24 months, which comes first. Looks to me that Op’s car is suggesting new oil at 13,200 miles or 24 months which (unless my maths is dreadful) is between 9000 and 20,000, and not far from midpoint of this range. https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/43543ebe-b876-4be5-9692-5aa8d68b302b Based on current mileage might be at the 24 months point anyway, so both will need to be done together, and by luck 13,200 miles also a sensible point to get tyres swapped front-back.
  9. What is a needles test for virtual cockpit, I thought it is just a screen, there aren’t any needles to physically rotate
  10. The bought at purchase is a factory backed scheme, and transfers with ownership of cars, so starts with known factory quality standard, as cars are as built condition. Buying later, the condition of vehicle will be different for each new warranty, so they factor in risk of failure, and for high risk items often exclude them, or charge more to include them. Some manufacturers include 4th year in their warranty at no cost, some 5th, and smaller number 6th and 7th years. So maybe the question should be why does Skoda only offer 3 years and expect owner to buy 4th and 5th year (as opposed to say offer 1-2 years free, or option to buy year 6), as logic is those who don’t require a warranty are being forced to pay for it with higher purchase price (would someone selling car after 6 months care if warranty continues beyond another 12 months)
  11. My first 2 Octavia estates were that colour, so yes, bring it back. We used to refer to it as jungle green, but 22 years on I can’t remember where we got that name from
  12. The cars given to motoring journalists are all prepared and will have a recommended route loaded in sat nav. If it is a winter or Alpine country will probably have had winter tyres. They usually are high spec and options. I suspect most never try and tune a radio, put fuel in it, reconfigure the infotainment, try and fit a child seat, sit in back (except for few seconds with door open for a photo) etc And of course, if the manufacturer is hosting the event, providing hotels and meals, and your airfare to get there and you want to be invited to next one, how critical will they be writing it up, much easier to avoid mentioning downsides. If they have a 1-5 star review system, is there equal numbers getting each star, or is it just use 3.5-5 stars. Is it biased, silly question.
  13. Your contract is with the dealer, (not Skoda), you might also have a contract/agreement with VWFS. The dealer will have a commercial contract with Skoda, this is irrelevant to your contract with dealer, and they are trying it on if they say your rejection with them can only be done once they have talked to Skoda. How the dealer gets refunded is not your problem.
  14. Sorry to here this. If it is failing to do what was advertised, and if you complained early enough, AND the dealer hasn’t been able to fix it (they get one go, not lots of attempts to fix) then you should be able to reject. The law is quite clear, selling dealer has to fix it in one go, saying they are waiting for manufacturer isn’t relevant (your sales contract is between you and dealer). Any commercial contract between dealer and Skoda is their problem, not yours and doesn’t change your rights. How the dealer gets refunded by Skoda is not your problem and no reason to delay remedy to you. Don’t let the dealer try and get away with making you accept a bad deal, you are entitled to your money back (less an amount for usage, say same per month as a PCP payment). Not obliged to get an exchange or replacement, and are free to take your money to another dealer (or another car brand). I suspect the dealer will be very selective in what they tell you, try and suggest anything else, and avoid you returning the car, until you put both sets of the keys on the desk and ask if they would like your debit card to process the refund (bit drastic, but a good way to show you are serious). You are not required to agree to a non-disclosure (gagging) agreement to be refunded. Others might also like to be aware of distance selling rules, if you ordered remotely (phone, online etc) get 14 days to reject from delivery, and won’t be any deduction of price. If you get a chance, let everyone know what outcome is, or what you have chosen instead.
  15. I think the car gives a warning when battery is low, but it only flashes up for about second on the little screen between speedo and rev counter, if you are not looking at the instruments when you start, it’s very easy to miss especially if look at button instead when pressing it Avoid cheap batteries, will only last few weeks/months The best batteries such as Duracell (with 50% more power) will last nearer 2 years. Keyless start pings a signal at intervals so uses more battery than remotes where you press a button, whose batteries can last 5+ years
  16. PS4S only came third on this test published today https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2021-UUHP-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm
  17. Some of the tyres quoted above have been superceeded, and are performance summer tyres (so poor or useless in frost, cold rain, slush, sleet and snow, or a salted motorway). Remember if salt has been put down, it’s too cold for a summer tyre to work well. Bridgestone Potenza are now S001, SO07, Sport https://www.bridgestone.co.uk/car-tyres Michelin Pilot range (some older designs for some tyre sizes) https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/browse-tyres/by-family/pilot Goodyear current range https://www.goodyear.eu/en_gb/consumer/tires.html Pirelli tyres currently made https://www.pirelli.com/tyres/en-ww/car/homepage Continental tyres https://www.continental-tyres.co.uk/car/tyres For those that like to drive hard on winding roads in cold months there are some new performance all season and winter tyres available. As an Example Pirelli has just launched a new all season (too new to be in any comparison test). Vredestein is an all season test winner so linking it as well https://www.vredestein.co.uk/car-suv-van/tyre-finder/
  18. I mean on Bridgestone UK website, tyres available in UK https://www.bridgestone.co.uk/car-tyres
  19. That’s not even in current Bridgestone UK Listing Currently listing Potenza S001 or S007 or new Potenza Sport Potenza is summer performance range, no use in the winter
  20. Don’t want this to sound like a stupid question Some are describing it as a sealed unit assembly, but others mention seals going. Why would anything that is sealed also have seals (as these are normally used at joint of opening parts). Can anyone clarify if it is sealed and unopenable, or just part sealed
  21. You will have to be quick for a 110 as no longer available so will have to find one at a dealer showroom that is unsold Having extra gear has both advantages and disadvantages. The gear ratios tend to be closer, so more likely to find an ideal gear at any specific speed, and obviously that can reduce noise, save fuel etc. The main downside is extra gear changing, and at certain speeds may feel need to change up/down as on cusp of a gear change. Both manual boxes are hard work if you commute in start stop city traffic. Regarding spec differences, some are about looks and image, some are useful, and some might fall into the little used so wouldn’t really miss them category. This is going to be different depending on your needs and lifestyle, as an example someone who drives elderly parents to shops each week is going to want different things to a person who is more chav and bling
  22. Skoda has unveiled the Octavia Pro for Chinese market 64mm longer (44mm a extra back seat legroom) Multi link rear suspension as standard Bumpers appear to be more sporty RS style 12 inch touchscreen Wonder if anyone in UK would have preferred this version https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/models/octavia/skoda-octavia-pro-czech-bestseller-for-the-chinese-market/
  23. The Government uses phrase non standard options To me that is accessories and things bought separately I would have thought standard factory options (except the extended warranty and servicing contract) are therefore included, so the fully loaded car which cost £54k wouldn’t get the £3k grant. But as others have pointed out it’s sensible to not exceed £49,999.99 (actually it’s bit more than that as first registration fee is excluded).
  24. That’s strange, because the Skoda UK configurator has it starting at £ 31,085 (£34,085 before grant) for 60 Nav Loft spec Just for a laugh, the 80 EcoSuite plus virtually all options on configurator is £50,510. Configuration code C77NVQ9S for those that want to check . The price is so high don’t get electric car grant (although I think configurator assumes you do, so quotes wrong final price by £3000) If you had said 20 years ago that Skoda would be selling £50k+ cars, would have been laughed at
  25. It’s obviously a UK thing, As an example the RS in Germany gets 18 inch Comet wheels, but the RS Plus gets 19 inch wheels Not sure what Skoda are trying to achieve by making the 18 inch unavailable
