  1. You will also need longer wheel bolts to cover the extra width.
  2. Correct, the P7 is a sporty touring summer tyre, the other a high performance summer tyre. (the equivalents would be P zero Corsa and primacy4) I am a bit confused why the Op can only budget for one tyre. She/he should be aware that a high performance car cannot safely use summer tyres in cold weather, so should have budgeted for winter set of tyres. Those summer tyres are likely to be hopeless on a salted motorway or A road at -2c. Do you really want to be doing motorway speeds with little grip? The salt will turn water into brine which is more slippery than pure water (but less slippery than ice).
  3. In legal terms, depends on what you previously stated you needed or paid for. If they offer something that has a different spec, it is a counter offer, and clearly any price adjustment they suggest forms part of their counter offer. It’s really upto you if it is acceptable instead. If they can’t find something suitable, they might just go for return of funds. There is a point where they will deem it to hard to fulfil. Your problem might be that if they offer money back, they will expect instant return of the car. The transaction becomes closed, and you have money but no car, and dealer has ended finding you alternative. It is why you need to balance how far to push the dealer to find a suitable alternative.
  4. Legally it’s simple and clear cut. You told the dealer you wanted to tow, they then supplied a car that can’t, so is unsuitable for purpose, and therefore doesn’t meet sales conditions under consumer law. Dealer has 3 options : take back car and refund you; or fulfil sales contract by swapping it to a vehicle that can tow; or third option which is cancel (void) whole transaction and put everything back as it was (which would involve returning any part exchange to you). The third option might not be possible if they no longer have any part exchange. Unlike yourself (a consumer, thus protected by consumer law, sale of goods Act etc), the dealer will have a commercial (business) contractual relationship with Skoda UK. How this works and how the dealer and Skoda move forward is none of your business, and should have no bearing on timeliness of your resolution with dealer (dealer can’t make fixing problem with you, conditional on how, or when, they get on with Skoda UK). It appears you want to be able to tow next month, in practical terms that may determine what you and dealer agree. If they can supply suitable alternative by then, probably easiest. If not you may be searching for another car.
  5. Its not as daft as it sounds In 2020 Skoda assembled 753,013 Skoda branded cars in Czech, but only built 411,000 engines in Czech So many of the engines are coming from factories in other countries (which might have different Covid rules and shutdowns) https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/skoda-world/skoda-and-volkswagen-three-decades-of-partnership/
  6. Correct, they have put software locks in place I guess they are fed up with people not paying for options and adding them for free later
  7. If you just need small amount for top up (500ml or litre) then some petrol stations sell 0w-20 oil, my local BP one does, selling Castrol brand oil
  8. Not available in UK, the specs of what is available is here https://web1.seat.co.uk/sites/default/files/seat_ra_file/tarraco-pricelist-apr-2021.pdf UK spec Tarraco are made at VWs Wolfsburg factory
  9. Isn’t that a battery saving feature, after few days shuts down the extra scanners
  10. Some dealers send out a reminder about month before the calendar due date. It’s effectively advertising their services when then estimate you might need it. Of course if it is already serviced as reached a mileage threshold, then ignore the letter.
  11. When I first saw this thread title, I assumed you had a blown exhaust already. Probably my age (56) as I grew up in era of exhausts failing due to high sulphur fuels and sulphuric acid dissolving them Am I the only one to think like this?
  12. Skoda has announced the launch, Tuesday 13th 10am CET Skoda will reveal its modified design, with a new, more pronounced, six-sided radiator grille and "four-eye” front headlights. Links to the launch https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/kodiaq/the-rejuvenated-skoda-kodiaq-is-here-watch-its-premiere/
  13. SurreyJohn replied to vrskeith's topic in Skoda Enyaq
Interesting deal, £47k (including options) £736 month (or about 5 years 4 months to reach £47k) But you haven’t told the whole story, as you might be saving your 40% PAYE under salary sacrifice, but you have to account for the benefit charge on your tax return (about £195 in 2021-22, £390 in 2022-23, and possibly more thereafter) So your net is more like £440 a month this tax year, rising to £460 per month next tax year, then probably jumping as Government isn’t going to be happy losing £300 tax per month forever once EVs become mainstream
  14. Reading some of this, I yearn for the old days, when you went to a showroom, saw a car, chose it, and collected it few days later. Did this with my first Skoda, a green mark1 Octavia GLX estate, in 1998 dealer only had the one, (only just gone on sale), but happily sold it. If you need to order it, then probably easier nowadays to do it online, not via a dealer, as updates you receive doesn’t seem to justify loyalty to stay local anymore. .
  15. Just remember tyres are temperature specific Summer tyres likely to slip in wet below +11c (they are better 20-35c) All season tyres best for -5c to +25c, and ok for few degrees beyond Winter tyres best below about +9c, good to about about +15c, less good if warmer depending on where you are in UK, you can make your own choice, but if you really want to avoid spinning the wheels, both in high summer thunderstorm and winter sleety rain, then you need appropriate tyres. With high power cars you may be best with seasonal tyres and changing them early Nov and early April. There is no point in having lots of tread, but a tyre that is hard and not grippy because it’s too cold.
  16. If your tyres are 235/40 R19 then not biggest choice in all season : Vredesrein Quatrac Pro (newer than Quatrac 5) is highly rated Bridgestone Weather Control A005 evo (one of the best in rain) Pirelli Cinturato SF2 (brand new, but should be good) Maxxis Premitra AP3 (does well in reviews for a budget brand) Michelin cross climate+ (quiet, long lasting, but pricey) Imperial all season driver (cheap, but not good idea on a 220bhp car)
  17. I was thinking that’s odd as the mk4 Octavia estate has 116ps engine for smallest diesel, but then I noticed you were in Ireland. I am thinking that this must be a lower power version (possibly something to do with Ireland VRT or tax), and as such is fitted with more basic suspension than higher powered versions
  18. They are probably all summer tyres as well. These can be quite hard (and thus not grippy) below about +11c If don’t believe me, just try and prod it, and slide finger over them to check grip The tsi 220 puts down lot of power, from a relatively light front of the car, there isn’t a huge lump of cast iron (a Diesel engine) giving lots of deadweight. The rattling is probably traction control trying to stop the wheels slipping. Your solution is premium tyres, and if you want to use it all year without spinning the wheels, fit all season tyres, not summer tyres.
  19. My seat Arona also has that 5 star shaped wheel centre cap, and the handbook shows where to insert the tool to pull off the cap. It needs a fairly strong tug. But I also got the tweezers (which aren’t needed as it doesn’t have 5 individual caps), so appears both are included regardless
  20. I have had both (in earlier versions, not mk 4) and beige makes the car feel so much more light and airy. On a gloomy day the black is rather depressing by comparison. Our second Octavia a mk1 L&K had tan leather, no longer available but still better than black. (and before anyone asks have a dog, and a child) Given a choice, I would always go for the beige now as it makes the car feel so much nicer to be in.
  21. But not uncommon in the executive /premium private hire to airport type business. Heathrow used to see lots of upmarket saloons dropping and collecting businessmen (&women) Potentially the service history will show a sharp drop off in mileage for last year if it was used for this kind of business
  22. List prices rarely go down, (they do occasionally) But offers vary each quarter, and these do fluctuate, especially deposit contributions and interest rates. Of course a deposit contribution is marketing mumbo jumbo as alternative to just cutting price by same amount (and worse value, because if price was cut £1000, would save £1200 as VAT would be lower)
  23. The new Fabia brochure has all hatchback models from stock only Appears the estate can still be ordered though Engine choice is now just the 1.0 tsi 95 (manual or DSG) I guess it means mk4 hatch is now closer https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/10d3f7f4-f1b7-4c49-a2bb-c3aa80c31e0e
  24. Was looking through the new Octavia brochure dated 1st April 2021 and it appears all season tyres are now in options list for £180 (not on first edition specs) Haven’t yet checked other models https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/43543ebe-b876-4be5-9692-5aa8d68b302b
  25. In the UK a new brochure has been issued dated 1st April 2021 Electric or leather seats are not in there, and brochure is likely to be the current specs for 2-4 months, so looks like no plans in next few weeks to introduce it. But you can order all season tyres now as an option ! https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/43543ebe-b876-4be5-9692-5aa8d68b302b
