  1. what is a hard reset? I tried it on mine but it still remembered previously paired BT devices. Is there a "factory reset" option?
  2. Yeah, it's not great, but harmless fun... So what's top of the pops Chez Jigger [other than Star Trek archives? ;-)]
  3. I'm not comparing CarPlay to Skoda's built-in infotainment, but to the alternative of just mounting the phone (I have a 6 plus) on the dash. I use Waze rather than Apple Maps (and the Apple Maps display on CarPlay is less good than that on the native screen). Not quite sure what playing music through Spotify via the VOX player even means! I'm perfectly happy playing from native Spotify - the CarPlay version seems hobbled. Maybe this is deliberate, to make it "safer". Sometimes, with CarPlay, it seems to make the "wrong" decisions for me when I'm trying to listen to the radio and then navigation wants to tell me something. I must work out what it's trying to do by stopping me listening to the radio! Siri would be great if it could do more. Incoming text alerts could easily be improved as well - it can be hard to know they've arrived at all, depending on what CarPlay screen you're on. Oh, and another thing - you lose the useful stalk controls for phone when in CarPlay mode. Not sure what the rationale for that is? Wondering about setting up a Wiki at carplaysucks.com!
  4. Just recently, it seems that CarPlay stopped working with my iPhone. To be honest, I think CarPlay is pretty useless, so I'm not that upset, but I am curious. It might coincide with a recent iOS upgrade, but as I generally try to avoid it (by plugging the USB into a dumb cigarette-lighter socket!) I'm not sure. Is this a known issue?
  5. Oooh, quite similar to mine.... A cop car, huh? Wonder if his tyre pressure sensor system has an error too...
  6. Bum... It's gone again! Do I have to get this seen to under conditions of the lease, or can I just ignore it?
  7. They've done a software upgrade on the ESC and (touch wood!) so far, so good... I think it's also improved the traction control system - seems to be much smoother than it was before. Also the trims have been refitted and glued + some window guide recall thing. Must say, when picking my car up from the service centre (that also does VW), I thought mine was by far the prettiest car in the lot. So my enthusiasm for this car has been slightly rekindled, and I'm pretty impressed with Citygate Colindale based on showing to date.
  8. So you don't have the error in the tyre pressure system? ;-)
  9. I've been looking enviously at the Passat GTE - seems that they can be had for around £28k
  10. Just spoke to Citigate who say there is a report on this fault (that includes other faults) that requires resetting of some electronic stabilisation system or something. So they'll have a go at that on Monday while the car's in for the chrome strip sticking! Must be ESC. Sounds plausible...
  11. Garage thought they'd fixed mine. Denied that it was a common problem. Resurfaced about 20 mins later... can't be bothered to have it fixed again.
  12. Update to chrome trim problem - there is a recall on it. I got away lightly; some cars have sustained (or caused!) damage to paintwork. No charge for me, but it'll have to be taken in for another day. They also claim to have fixed the tyre pressure sensor. We shall see!
  13. Ah, this is my problem. I agree that there should be an action plan!
  14. Further to my earlier problems with window trim coming loose, I booked in for a service to have it fixed, but just a few days before, the problem got so bad that the trim came loose and was ripped off by the wind on the motorway! Luckily nobody was hurt, but this seems worthy of a recall. I wonder how much Skoda are going to charge me for replacement??? Please be warned - this fault needs attending to quickly - mine started in November. I started trying to book a service in December, but had trouble finding a close service centre, and then my January appointment was just too late.
  15. Something strange has happened with the car recently that I think may be related to the automatic handbrake. If I stop the car to park on a very slight incline, it kind of jerks forward a bit when I take my foot off the brake - and it never used to do that. Anyone else had this?
  16. I seem to remember reading someone talking about this earlier, but I can't find it. Is this something a Skoda service centre should fix for free as part of a maintained lease contract? Or even not?
  17. ...and now it's saying that rear right has low pressure - although it looks OK to me. I'll try your trick, though.
  18. An interesting question! One thing I would say about mine (which is Business Grey) is that there is a tendency for a dirty streak to appear coming down from the driver's door handle. Somewhat unfortunate. It's quite clean at the moment, but I'll take some pics tomorrow.
  19. Is anyone else having reports of continued reporting of low tyre pressure? This is not specific to a particular tyre, and when I measure the pressure, or just do a visual inspection, the tyre is fine. Most irritating!
  20. I've got it as an extra in a SE Business. Very glad to have it over the basic system. It has grown on me - a combination of the speakers loosening up and my getting used to it. It's a very different style to the Audi's Bose - The Bose is "beefier" with a more powerful bass and more power generally, but I think the Canton has a touch more elegance. Note that the speakers in the rear doors hardly work at all - not sure if this is by design, but for front-seat passengers that's irrelevant! I had a decent system in my previous car, and I sometimes miss the ability of that system to go loud without distorton (but it was a convertible, so perhaps needed it more!). The Canton does distort at loud volumes, but I guess one probably shouldn't be going that loud anyway....
