  1. Personally I think it is better looking than the MX5 on paper, but whether or not this will apply to the real life version. This is more of a road car, as a turbo lump instead of rev happy NA is a distinct differentiation.
  2. Skoda would call that Beige. Nice motor.
  3. Couldn't really be more accurate... I have been in cars with 'adjustables' (on cars which are far more sensitive to poor settings than the Octavia) and the truth of the matter is most people cannot get the best out of them and in many cases make the handling of the car is many times worse than the OEM fittings. You really have to be a track day god, to gain any discernible benefit from adjustables. Adjusting damping alone is pointless really, if you adjust the damping you really need to adjust the spring rates accordingly... And I can't see many people really wanting to lug around 5 sets of springs, just to 'hit that sweet spot' for an unknown circuit.
  4. Just also remembered you are taking about the Citigo... I previously had an Up! and had no issue triggering the ABS when jumping on the middle pedal (when a cat ran out in front of me). But that did have the original Falken tyres on, which were shocking.
  5. I am going to have to be pedantic here... If the front pads insufficiently retarded motion effectively, but the new ones do... Then the front:rear bias has (with no uncertainty) been adjusted. However, if you cannot trigger the ABS with the original pads, no matter how strongly you bury the middle pedal then something is amiss... or your tyres are far too capable.
  6. Which suggest that changing the front pads has adjusted the front:rear bias and that is what is triggering the ABS intervention.
  7. All those are relatively cheap and easy, so fix, even if you were to sell they would be worth doing. Even paying someone to do the Labour side can't remotely come close to the loss incurred through swapping vehicles.
  8. It will be a combo of heat soak and engine retardation as the engine will be protecting itself for getting too hot and risking premature firing.
  9. Until some real intelligence is gathered on who they really are, how they really operate and what their real goals are then we will continue to be ****ing into a force5 gale. It is bad enough getting your shoes, but at the moment it is hitting us in the face. Not entirely sure the two events are directly connected, just that the timeframe was adjusted. This was probably planned for Christmas Eve / Christmas Day originally.
  10. Say hi to Alison and Dunk for me, pretty sure they are still kicking around in their Saxo.
  11. Looks surprisingly good for a wrap... Though how long it will look good is another matter.
  12. Done it for 8yrs and counting, though I used to break it up with Bradford (or Central Sheffield) to Newcastle upon Tyne on a Friday eve, whilst the better half was at Uni up there. Much more comfortable in the Octavia than either the Focus or VX220.
  13. Similar stretch... I get on a Jn38 and get off at the M62, before heading across to the M606 and into Bradford. Traffic has a massive effect on my commute, on a good run I can manage it in 30mins, most days this week have been between 80 and 120mins.
  14. Cheers themond. Car is booked for new boots tomorrow at my local DM Keith, as they were willing to price match all the local competitors. Dunlop Sport BluResponse is what it will be shod with and I will review these after they are done. /just hope I don't regret not getting a set of winters.
  15. Roadrunner Car Care or Roadrunner Car Services You I know: www.rcc.uk Www.rcs.uk www.roadrunner.uk Are all available.
  16. To be honest... As much as I would love to spunk £150 on a stereo at the moment, I am close to brassic and priority number has to be to replace the four tyres first. The tyres have loads of tread left, but since buying the car last week I have noticed that they are the best part of 8yrs old on the rear and though they are the same brand on the front, they are marginally different versions, with differing tread patterns. So my priorities are: 1. Make it safe 2. Make it comfortable So given the near 300 beans for the four tyres I quickly run out of 'spare brass' hence the eye on the VW units at £80, as I could probably squeeze to that on pay day.
  17. Not sure what it is, but depending on price (and on confirmation it was properly, as that looks like a reasonable smash that Octy has been in) I would like to request first refusal.
  18. Fair enough...so what would I need (and cheekily could you point me in the direction of where to get it/them) please.
  19. That helps, somewhere I have a VCDS cable and VCDS lite software so can plug it in and have a look. For a Passat I had a few years back. Is there a particular code I am looking for in the settings?
  20. Good to hear, but I known people who have had 4+yr old tyres delivered.
  21. I am looking at replacing the Stream MP3 unit in my 2008 (pre-FL) Ambiente 2.0 TDI PD Octavia. I have looked at the standard Skoda units, but for some reason these seem to be at more of a premium than a VW equivalent (on ebay). For example I understand that a Bolero is equivalent to a VW RCD510. VW RCD510s seem to be around the £90 mark on ebay, whereas the Bolero's on there are around the £160-£200 mark. Is there any significant differences to the wiring setup, as all I am really looking for is an improvement in soundquality and ideally the ability to play music off a mdeia device (HTC One M8 or SD card). A bonus would be to add phone call features, but I am not really fussed about SatNav features. I am generally quite astute with stuff, but for some reason I have been unable to comprehend the necessary parts/adaptations having read bucket loads of threads on here.
  22. I am intrigued... why would they have just sent you one? I too am considering a change of the Stream unit in a pre-FL '08 reg Octavia II and that looks very cheap compared to a lot.
