  1. Ouch, sorry to hear! Hope all is sorted quickly and pain free! Those new wheels definitely make a big difference to the styling though. Look forward to updates on this once you're back on the road.
  2. I have dealt with the large west london one in question and purchased 2 cars from them. First car was fine, except for the 'multi point' vehicle check which allowed me to drive away with a nail in 1 tyre and below legal brake pads at the rear. Both of these were repaired at a Halfords Autocentre (the place they use) and reimbursed by the company. Second time, not an issue at all and car was perfect. The other place was a supermarket in Southampton. Phoned about a specific car, drove 1.5 hours down there one evening to view and some monkey had 'lost the keys' that day. Information that was omitted when I phoned up to check we were still on for the test drive. I was shown a multitude of 'similar' (not similar) cars and asked which one I would like. Needless to say, I left. Pros; Large selection of cars. Good if you just want to browse, pressure free Good if you are unsure what you want exactly (i.e. know you want an estate, no idea what brand) Cons; As mentioned already, do your own research and thoroughly check the car The 101 bolt on sales items. The self cleaning protective film coat crap, GAP insurance etc. Usually high pressure - pay a refundable deposit to reserve 24 hours etc. Due to often quick turnover, sometimes worth it if it really is the right car. Overall, used car supermarkets, used main dealers, used family dealers - there is good, bad and ugly in all. I tend to go where the car is, but trust my instinct. HTH.
  3. I wasn't aware of the impact each 'cycle' had :( Looks like I'll be turning off the leaving home feature then.
  4. I personally still use a separate sat nav device. I've had a few cars with it built in but often found the system slow to fire up (Mercedes/Land Rover). Currently running a Tom Tom Start 5" which is attached to the centre vent area using a Brodit mount system and wired in by USB to fire up/power down with the ignition when the display screen comes on. I rely on it for work whereby I need to go from call coming in, address entered and on the move >30 seconds. Tom Tom has never let me down
  5. Love it, looks great. Slightly biased as very similar to mine much better spec you've got though - looking forward to seeing this progress.
  6. Can't offer figures for your model but I'm running my own test on my VRS TDI DSG this tank. I always had it in ECO but didn't like the things you mentioned. Currently trying the same journey in sport mode to test the other extreme. Like you, if it's no real difference (so far it isn't) I won't bother with ECO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I've changed my mind. Along with many others, fog lights. Especially the latest craze of side lights only and fog lights?! What is the obsession. They all receive a retina burning xenon wave as I go past now. On a side note, there is an increasingly rising number of poorly maintained cars with lights out. 4 in a row, one after another I saw this morning. Makes you wonder how often they check their tyres, fluids etc if they don't even notice/care about bulbs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Looks beautiful! I really love them in that colour, so unique. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Looks great! Do any of you have the Phillips in the front indicators too? If so any videos of how they look with the DRL's? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. absolutely stunning! Enjoy!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Being so unaware I didn't know that was an ice scraper before this post. Now I feel silly! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. My white vRS estate after a clean recently - had it since October last year and love it. So practical all round but fun. Some lovely Octavia's on this thread! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. No specific incident but it happens all too often.. People drifting lanes on roundabouts, going straight over in a 'straight line' thus nearly side swiping me as I turn right.
  15. Looking good! Really like the new wheels
  16. I've had mine about 1 month and it had to go in for an oil leak from the turbo manifold inlet or something like that. Took about 10 days. Fingers crossed it is all fixed now
  17. I love mine, only had it about 1 month but absolutely love driving it! It looks great too and really grips well for the size. Fuel wise, around town with stopping and starting, junctions etc I can get about 35mpg on short runs. Mixed journeys about 45mpg. Long motorway runs over 50mpg at least. All the above in 'eco' mode. Every Sunday night I pick the Mrs up from work and treat myself to a bit of fun. Put it in all sport settings and absolutely gun it at 30mph the whole way - I have a great blast, turn up grinning like a kid at Christmas and still get a good 30mpg amazingly!
  18. Only had my vRS estate for about a month now but absolutely love it! Came from a LR Disco 4 which as lovely as it was, drank fuel like no other car I've owned. Seeing as its just me and the Mrs I wanted something with good MPG, comfy ride for our weekends away and practical and fast for all the kit I carry and my line of work. The vRS ticks all those boxes, drives like a standard estate in eco and as good as, if not better IMO, than the Merc C Class Coupe I had which was a 'sport coupe'. I get between 40-50mpg depending on where I go and how I drive and with the DSG and cruise control it can soak up the miles no issue. I had one issue early on which was a major oil leak, caused by a leaking turbo manifold inlet (something like that) which was fixed by my Skoda dealer within 10 days while I drove around in a vRS saloon which didn't work as well for me. Coming from BMW's, Mercs and LR's I was concerned I wouldn't like the quality but it is more solid and better to sit in than some 'high end' marques. Would highly recommend them to anyone and can't wait for the following months/years!

  20. I too have storage under the passenger seat but not drivers so pleased to see that is a possible mod! Going to look into this myself.
  21. Hello all, My name is Will and I am from Berkshire. About a month ago I picked up my 2014 Octavia vRS estate. Prior to that I have owned; Mini Cooper Vauxhall Astra 2 BMW 1 Series' Ford Mondeo Mercedes C class coupe Land Rover Discovery 4 So quite a variety! Loving the Skoda so far and hoping to use this forum for inspiration and handy tips so I can improve my own car. Look forward to speaking to you all over the coming months.
