I bought one last week - excellent it is too, no more smearing or missed dirty bits. thanks for the heads up.

You're right it would probably work out cheaper but the skoda garage is handy and also I have some warranty jobs as well which they're going to do at the same time - rear door leaks and flakey bumper paint....
-
ok definately feel better now as I was worried I was getting conned. I've never done this many miles in a car before so didn't know what to expect plus my other cars were considerably less powerful and a lot lighter - all adds up to being harder on the componants I suppose....

thanks Chris, so 40k aint too bad.

Hi, My 53reg fabia vrs is in for a 40k service and I asked them to check the brakes as I didn't think they were upto much. They've come back and said I need new discs and pads all round cost

30 - 70 times, few other Q's (newbie)
shorty replied to J4CKO's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I've got an AMD 1-click and there's no way I'd get under 6 30-70. Probably somewhere between 6.4 to 6.8 secs. 0-60, again I'd be looking at 7 to 7.5 secs I reckon... -
Hi from another North East member, Durham. Not sure how the octy I vrs compares to your volvos (I drive its little fabia brother) but I reckon with a remap it'd be a very quick and practical car. I'm sure some octy vrs owners will be along to give more meaningful advice.
-
mine looks very similar to yours Decron though the area affected is smaller. I'm going to mention this at the 40k service - does anyone know if the proper fix for this would require a full bumper respray or could it be touched up? Just checking so I know what to push for...

Don't worry I won't give anything away - I've got used to not talking about lost or prison break now 'cos everyone else is almost a whole series behind. Now I'm worried  - have to say I prefer the doc personally;)
-
yep, excellent ending wasn't it, looks like the final few episodes are gonna be good. Watched lost 20 on torrent last night and that was even better.

Custom Re-map -Anyone heard of used these guys?
shorty replied to 3000GT's topic in Skoda Superb Mk I (2001-2008)
Someone on here has had one done on a fabia vrs. See link below http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/got-my-remap/51440/?highlight=chipboost -
yep, I use the one in Durham and the prices have always been very good especially for servicing when compared with others on here.

I got 30k out of my front Michelins and the rears still look pretty good at nearly 40k:)

Skoda OEM iPod connector for Fabia...
shorty replied to northernlights's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I was disappointed with the quality too. -
had mine 2 1/2 years now and still enjoying it. I keep thinking about trading in for a newer octy 1 vrs for the extra space but I just like my fabia too much at the moment it still ticks more boxes for me. Might change my mind when they bring out the octy 2 vrs diesel but I reckon it'll be too expensive. Still I am tempted by a nearly new octy 1 vrs for around 12k though, just not sure it'll hold its value too well.....

Yep, mine is underwritten by highways. can't work out these insurance companies you seem to get a different answer depending on which day of the week it is. Also elephant wouldn't touch me with a remap:confused:

I had the same thing with Greenlight. Chris Knott came in at 450 for me so sounds about right with all the mods. plus they didn't charge extra to pay monthly.

always found the AA and sainsburys online to be competitive on loans...

jos - it looks fine to me, from the side it does protrude a little but from the front you can't tell. I chose the 6mm as they have a better chance of holding the plate on a curved surfaces - though I didn't experiment with the 1mm on the front. Maybe you could get hold of some 3mm if you're worried about it being raised slightly?
-
Yep, I used 1mm on the rear and 6mm on the front cos of the curvature and have had no problems.

Kumho ECSTA SPT KU31 - Anyone want to put me off these?
shorty replied to Goochie's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
got kuhmo KU31 on front of my fabia 7k miles ago. Seem to be wearing quicker than the michelins primacys I had but grip is much better. Can't say I've noticed any noise level difference. Think I'm going to give the T1-R's a go when these wear out as they're only a little bit more expensive. -
mine went down 2/3mpg when swapping the front michelins for kumhos

modified VRS insurnsce probs help needed
shorty replied to adamC's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
christ knott - insure me with 1-click and strut brace.. -
yeah I got proper carpets (take it you are referring to the carpet mats?) though they were for a LHD vrs (common problem with the 03/53 vrs). Dealer gave me the proper RHD ones free when I pointed it out a few months later, think your delaer should do the same if they're the wrong ones.
