Its that time of year to renew my insurance on the vRS, I am also considering remapping at the same time to coincide with the change of policy. 1. If the car is insured as remapped but it actually isn't (i.e. its booked in for next week) would it actually be covered? I suppose technically its not, but its over insured. 2. You have to quote percentage increases for the remap, the groups I've found are upto 11%, 11 - 25% and 26% >. Now do I 'have' to tell the truth, most maps are apparently kicking out 180bhp so thats grater than 26%, however, this group is significantly more expensive than the 11 - 25% group. I suppose I could always get a rolling road printout as evidence thats its bhp is 'below' the quoted figures. Equally worst case scenario, if the car was written off, other than being able to tell its remapped you wouldn't be able to find out the actual power increase. I know what the right answer is, just wondering if anyone has had the same thought and which was they went. Thanks.

Since the topic is back to the top. MPG is back to 46/47, which is what it always has been. It was just that one tankful where it dipped to 43. So all's well that ends well

Just messing with Sharkrider However I don't think his Angel remap lived up to what he was expecting when it was tested on Awesome's rollers. Still he's happy, as are plenty of Fabia vRS owners on this forum. I was gonna go with Angel, but have since postponed remapping for a while

Are you? are you really?

Megs Gold Class is soo much better But I presume you don't want shampoo as its cleaned elsewhere, what you after wax, sealant?

Everything left on here. I do however always start with the clutch depressed, which takes a chunk of the load of the engine. Never really thought about powering down all the equipment, after all I'm not a airplane pilot.

2 quick questions (air con and leaky doors)

Right the fan noise changes but the light stays off throughout, also SCAB-COM shows no faults. Phew, all is well -

Damn your memory... I generally have it on 'one' so maybe thats why I haven't heard a change in noise either. -

Yeah, sorry Fab_vRS No error codes were found last time I checked. But I'll have a look again later this afternoon -

Hope not I'm sure mine goes off by itself :(, have to have a look into it. Although I think I've only used it twice -

Well no, I'm sure there are people here that had leaking doors and have fixed them. Either by Skoda, or other wise. Have a search I think theres a guide somewhere. -
Snap! Although I know people who claim 50p a mile. Remember to claim business miles, you really ought to be insured to do them
-
Yeah, that'll work. Although its already been sold, to you? I believe it'll only show the code and not a vague description like VAG-COM does. If you wanted codes read / cleared I could of done that for you at the Suffolk / Essex meet which never happened

Whats wrong with super-chips? Personally I'd leave it alone. If you planning any major mods then get them done, and then get a custom map. If your not then save your £300, or go on holiday somewhere warm. and, Welcome

Yep, that time of year where every drivers forgets everything they have ever learnt, and start driving like complete ***** :( All within a short 6 mile journey; 1. a 'gentleman' went ballistic at me for stopping before and not on top of a pedestrian crossing, swearing, shouting, waving his hands around like a loon. Think I may of delayed him by 20 seconds, he didn't look best pleased as his car kangarooed off up the road. 2. one crashed car into a tree on a straight single track road, must of been going pretty fast to cause that much damage. 3. three crashed vehicles nearish a junction, again each with substantial damage 4. countless people driving with main beams on, and several with sides only 5. general tits - they're everywhere anyway Oh well, looks like hibernating during the winter is a good idea, see you in spring

Just went to B&Q in the hope of finding some grease, but the lady I asked looked at my as if I asked for a 'unicorn on a stick'. Local Maplins doesn't have any in stock. I know I've got some at home somewhere, just can't remember where I'm still skeptical mind

1. Thats normal. Not sure of the length of time through. 2. C1 and C2 I'd say (get confirmation first). Clear sealant would be a bit of a bodge, and will peel off and look awful. Your car, your rules HTH -
Like Chris said are you sure you didn't hit standing water? That and cruise control are not a good combination.
-
umm, slow down

But mine doesn't. Its clear when I get in, but turning on the AC on mists the windows up. Its as if the AC unit is storing moisture.
-
You wanna what with who now? The drainage holes beneath the windscreen, when drain into the engine bay? If so yes they're clear. I'm gonna try leaving it in the 'feet' position until its upto temp and then divert it to the screen. As it only seems to be the first few minutes where the vents deposit moist air into the car.

How to tell if a VRS Engine is Euro 3 or 4?
*tim* replied to LHutchin's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
yeh the code is stamped on the engine, think its hidden by the gearbox and is not really accessible. Best bet is too look at the registration document, or the sticker under the boot carpet. Post 2005/6 will be BLT
