  1. i got mine from cleanyourcar.co.uk - Polishing Machine - Polishing - Clean Your Car - the best car wax, car polish and car care products UK unfortunately they're out of stock at min... your 110v transformer will be fine for it, and like the others say, nip to screwfix direct or some other electrical store and get an adapter to fit your new porter cable!!! Happy Buffing!!
  2. I e-mailed vrsStu with this yesterday... as his website (Fabia-vrs.com - Home Page) was the one with the stolen Red Fabia advert on a while back... He said he'd pass it onto the person in question... lets hope the boys in blue pay them a visit! Even if it's a legitimate breaker then at least its good to know we're looking out for each other!
  3. Quick answer - Yes... Not worth it tho as 95% of applications are built for 32-bit; really no point going 64-bit unless running some 64-bit application... Will recommend Core2Duo thought (got it in my MacBook Pro) and it is a very noticable difference...
  4. @ WaveyDavey - The old vRS badge is fairly easy to get off.. the best way is to take the front grille off completely and push the badge off from behind (if i remember correctly it seems to be glued on epoxy style)... i silmply used a flat bladed screwdriver to pry the old one off, then used som Araldite Quick Bond to glue the new one on... (tip - use some duct tape to secure it in place whilst gluing!)
  5. yeah i know what you mean... going to have a bash at changiing springs over before GTI International; prob 30mm drop...
  6. Cheers for all the kudos! Only been (properly) detailing cars for about 6 months now so learning more and more all the time... @ Jon TDI - rubbing the paintwork with a ginsters peppered steak made it as smooth as glass!!!
  7. Spent a some time with the PC and some various chemicals at the weekend... Didn't use any cutting agents as i'm saving that for GTI International in June... Products used (not in any order!): Zymol Car Shampoo, Zymol Car Polish, Meguiars Clay Bar, Meguiars Quik Detailer, Chemical Guys Pro Detailer, Poor Boys Wheel sealant, Autosol Magnesium Polish, Meguiars Hot Tyre Shine, Collinite No. 476s Wax, Red Bull, Ginsters Peppered Steak Bake...
  8. Hey guys and gals, Managed to get hold of Autodata, and got it to spit out the tyre pressures for (what i think) all Fabia models... Hope this is of use to peeps!
  9. Anyone possibly answer this one? I've searched the forum (stickies and posts) and can gather that i require 4.3 litres of 505.01 spec PD oil (5w40)... is it possible to use a fully synthetic oil (0w40) in the PD engines? (i know that it is thinner when cold) If anyone actually uses 0w40 in their Fabia vRS, can they recommend a brand (not fussed about cost!)
  10. the idea behind a locking kit is to remove the key locking mechanism from the door... covering it up with some plastic isn't my idea of secure!! my friend has a mkvi Golf anni and his locking kit comes with aluminium inserts to replace the barrel entirely... the plastic plate goes over this to blend the entire door handle....
  11. Anyone have any ideas where i can get a delocking kit for an 04 vRS from? (part numbers would be most useful!!)
  12. Any of you guys thought about going to GTI International?? (weekend of 16-17th June 2007) Been for the last 3 years running (last year shifted dates to more favourable weather!) Loads of clubs (VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda), 1/4 mile track... offroad course (Went round in a Touraeg W10 - effin' awesome!) tyre handling course (they swap your wheels for some quality rubber and let you have a bash) camping over the weekend.... absolutely brill!! check out GTI International 2006 for some pics of the last one!!
  13. with regards to refitting the new badge; my local Halfords stock a 'Trim Repair Tape' which seems to be the same consistency of the bonding holding my old badge on.... you can also find this stuff on eBay: eBay.co.uk: Sellotape car trim repair tape (item 300025188711 end time 05-Jan-07 01:29:08 GMT) Just cover the back of the new badge in strips of this stuff and apply to your grille! 1000 miles so far and no missing badge for me!
  14. thanks for the symathy! Was a real gut-wrenching experience... but as you guys say, a lesson well learned! the car's booked in Monday for a new front bumper; decided to settle it out of insurance as i have a
  15. have a look at Fabia-vrs.com - Colour Coded Grille & Octavia II vRS Badge This is a direct lint to vrsStu's guide to the removal and retrofit of the front grille (just put my own colour coded grille on! cheers Stu!!) part code for Skoda Emblem is 1U0 853 621 C MEL (about £12)
  16. GUTTED!! Parked up one night in December; fairly steep hill - so applied handbrake... got out... got my rucksack out of the boot... locked the car up and got buzzed into my mates apartment... Had a rather belting Thai meal... came to leave a couple of hours later... and my car wasn't where I left it... instead it was about 20 yards down the hill; sticking out of a lampost! Needless to say... I wasn't impressed!! After speaking to my insurers, they advised me to contact my dealer to assess whether it was a fault with the braking system; the result of which was a big fat 'nothing wrong here sir' (although my handbrake is now two clicks tighter now)..... Spoke to Skoda UK and they tell me there's nothing i can do!! So now i'm left with a
  17. Hi guys, new to the Skoda thing... (got my first Fabia vRS a week ago)... been looking into the Aero Wiper mod on this forum; got some renault aeros for the front ordered, but am struggling for a devinitive decision on the rear aero wiper... Reading previous posts i found this from vagparts.com... Polo rear aero wiper 2003> Direct swap for the 2003 on Polos. Kit to change the rear window wiper and arm to the later aero wiper found on 2005 Polos. Order number: 6Q6998425 Our price: 13.11 GBP is this the correct kit for an 04 Fabia? Cheers for any help with this! PS: quality site peeps! Bomski
  18. This is a tricky one... as it depends on the level of scratching which caused the dullness... A simple test to see if this can be repaired is to run your fingernail over the surface of the dulled area... if you can feel any scratches with your nail then only professional Bodywork technicians can help you... if not; then you may be in luck! There are a number of refinishing and detailing companies about who specialise in rejuvenating dulled and defective paintwork... (even Halfrauds are offering a service like this - starting from
