  1. Windfarm developers are not allowed to use pylons or other means to carry cables above ground. The cables are buried from offshore to the grid connection point. It doesn’t take long for the ground to return to its original condition and then there are very few signs that they’re there.
  2. This is an interesting set of YouTube posts. Firstly, UK electricity consumption is falling, not rising. At no time would we be left without electricity, there could be some industrial shut downs.
  3. A quick check would be to see tyre sizes fitted to Enyaq’s with 19” wheels, and see if they fit your wheels, use this site to check different wheel and tyre sizes against those fitted to your car. What you’re looking for is a small change in diameter or revs per mile, less than 5% to keep your speedometer correct https://www.oponeo.co.uk/tools/tyre-size-calculator/205-55-r16 Also check the offset, usually noted as ET, this keeps your wheel bearings in good order. Should have read @Carlston post first!!

What’s the state of charge and air temperature?
  5. Thanks @Gizmo, I’d just checked the threads, will get a couple on order.
  6. This isn’t a specific Enyaq thing, I’m putting on my winter wheels and getting a bit frustrated aligning the bolts with the holes in the hub. Older cars had studs which made alignment a doddle, so why the change? From an engineering perspective studs are better as the wheel nuts impart tension and little torque to the studs so if you over torque the threads tend to fail first. On the other hand impart both tension and torque so a bolt tends to fail just below the head. Thoughts?
  7. I don’t see why it would be a specific “EV thing” the bearing will be an Enyaq specific part number. Most Škoda models are FWD and the Enyaq is RWD apart from the x models, this will influence the hub design but a bearing is a bearing.
  8. I drove towards Aberdeen on day 3 to get phone signal and when I got into town I charged to 100% “just in case”. When the phone connected there was a deluge of texts from SSE with updates, which was a bit late…
  9. Just changed my 71 plate 80x out for a new vRS Estate in Phoenix Orange. It’s arrived with software v5.2 installed, I’d just got used to 3.7 in the 80x, it’s a big change! The new motors are substantially more efficient, this morning I had 265miles range at 80% SOC and am seeing above 3.5miles/kWh when the 80x would have been at c3 in the cooler temperatures.
  10. Not round here, the last time we had a 3 day power cut the fuel station was closed because neither the pumps or tills were operating. if you’ve got big weather coming it always pays to have your car, regardless of energy type, topped up.
  11. Just came across this post, the last paragraph could also have been written as: “Incidentally, have you seen how many homes in Florida right now that have their power cut as a result of storm Milton, any gas car drivers trying to flee are finding out that gas pumps are electric and re regretting having no gas left”
  12. I had 2 Superb estates, one diesel one petrol and they absolutely lived up to their name. in 2021 I got an Enyaq 80x, much as I liked the Superbs, the Enyaq does the job equally well, but is quieter and smoother, on Wednesday I changed the 80x for a vRS. I’m not going back to ICE, there is nothing an ICE can do that an Enyaq can’t, not load lugging, not long distance (>600miles), not comfort, I proved this over 3 years. For clarity my cars are not company cars.

Enjoy, it seems as if some cars are coming faster than predicted, hope yours is one of those.
  14. There was one in the boot of my car when I collected it, I’ve charged the car in rain a few times and not felt the need to install it. Also, as said above, it doesn’t allow CCS plugs through.
  15. Try one of these, I’ve used one to get at nuts etc down the back of an engine or in vey confined spaces. https://www.halfords.com/tools/hand-tools/all-hand-tools/rolson-led-claw%2Fmagnetic-pick-up-tool-710299.html

Just done this, great improvement, thanks!
  17. I got mine 2 weeks ago, I’m impressed with it. Definitely a bit more sprightly than an 80, springs are firmer than standard in Normal mode, haven’t tried Sport yet. I checked the tyre pressures at the weekend, 2.3bar all round but meant to be 2.7 so added some air and the car feels better around, slightly less firm which is weird!
  18. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I couldn’t find anything though. I’ve just moved from a Superb to an Enyaq and the App for the Enyaq is - basic. The Superb version had very useful functionality such as linking calendars to satnav, lock doors etc but none of that exists on the Enyaq version. is anyone aware of likely updates to the app?

    That’s good to know, thanks.
  20. I got the 80x this evening. I was sad to see my Superb L&K but after 40miles, the Enyaq is seriously growing on me. Initial impressions are it’s great pulling in to traffic gaps, comfort is great, the suspension feels stiff, but not too stiff, the matrix lights are excellent, better than the Superb’s, it likes B roads. Like it.
  21. As it’s been a while since the Aberdeen dealership has had a mention I thought I’d give my experience over 5 years with them. back in 2016 I bought a petrol blue Superb L&K, see post above, and over 3 years I had a faultless experience with Specialist Cars. So in 2019 I ordered a new L&K Superb estate in Velvet Red, again a great ownership experience. In August I ordered an Enyaq 60 Suite, again with Specialist Cars, I changed plan and am picking up an Enyaq iV 80x SportLine from the dealership in the next few days. My experience has been great over the years, hence my continued use of the dealership. I dealt with Mark Nelson for the blue Superb and Grant McLean for the red one and the Enyaq(s). Both stand out people and the deals I got were very good. For services, the team are very good and I can’t fault the quality of work. Before I bought the blue Superb I ran a Jaguar XJR, my dealership experience with Peter Vardy Jaguar in Aberdeen was the complete opposite to Specialist Cars, but if I write about that I’ll go into full rant mode.
  22. I’m on the point of swapping my Superb Estate L&K for an Enyaq SportLine 80x in Arctic Silver. I ordered a 60 in mid August and was advised of a February delivery, the SportLine was set to be a showroom car but we worked round that and delivery could be as early as today. I test drove the fairly loaded demonstrator in July and was impressed by the overall quality of the car, and even on 21” rims the ride was very good. Looking forward to trying out the 80x with 265hp and 4wd!
