Wheel bolts mk3 vs mk2
aren't they a different offset?

What have you done to your Superb III today?
after driving from Göttingen to Frankfurt a couple of months back, I began to understand why a significant number of Germans have low profile tyres on their cars. Was some of the most difficult driving I've done in a while... There was a group of us, about 8-9 cars, all running at 150-170km/h (so around 90-100mph) and it was a challenge to keep up in the X1 with only 18" rims. Opened my eyes to the different requirements in different countries. Here it's frequently about gravel. Down there, high speed stability. The autobahn system is not as boring as the M54 or the E6, and deliberately so.

saw how much bird poop it has on it after sitting for the weekend. This is ridiculous, they seem to hit that and nothing else. Literally 3 big splotches on the roof, more on the window and screen, and then a couple on the bonnet. A lot got washed off last night with the thunderstorm, but not everything. Still, it's been quite a few kms since the last wash (3000?) and I need the cameras to be able to read the plate, so a wash is in order. At least all the dust is off the rear again.

Superb 280 L&K
there's a filter mesh in there that really ought to be changed / cleaned at the same time as the haldex oil changes. Personally, mine feels (at 110k miles / 172k km) that it needs brakes looking at - the rears really are close to the limits - and the cambelt is due. Haldex oil will be changed (again) at the next service. Cambelt is being done a tick ahead of time (suggested is 180k kms for this specific model). Might also get around to doing the B6s and an ARB to tighten things up, there are probably some bushings that are dodgy, but I can't really feel it. Having said that, I know on the A2 it didn't feel bad per se, but it was a hell of a lot nicer to drive after messing with certain bushings and other suspension components. I've seen some cars with monster mileages here on the market - right I can find 2 2019 cars with over 300000 kms on the clock. And they still cost €10k... TÜV seems to say springs and then batteries, along with brakes. Fits with mine - it's already had a spring replaced and the brakes too. . Bret

the buffers will make a massive difference if you're using the softer springs with stiffer dampers. I would advise using the correct length ones for the dampers - i had the wrong ones on the A2 for a while and it was *terrible*. I quite like my ride height, which is why I'll probably keep it but improve the damping. Thanks for the colour codes, they will help lots. I would also expect that the spring seats are simply bigger with the increased ride height. I believe you'll find that the 0YA is a weight class for the rear axle. See also https://www.pkwteile.de/autoteile/skoda-ersatzteile/superb-3v3/112397/10221/stossdampfer for some explanations re sport / lowered / raised suspension - they all seem to use the same dampers. Also: from the Lotus school of suspension thought - if you want the car to "breathe" over bumps, leave the springs softer, but fit "sportier" dampers. If you want to feel like you're steamrollering the road into submission, go for the stiffer springs. I drove the same road with a 307 and the A2 a few years ago and it really opened my eyes to what i actually wanted from the car .... and the A2 now flows better but it's still too stiff for lower-speed "give-and-take" roads that are bumpy and curvy and only 80km/h. The body control is awesome with the upgraded ARBs... but it's not a flowing car. The 307 with standard dampers did that far better, even if it was rolling a lot. For the Superb, I don't need the low speed feel, it's a long-distance car and that won't change. So the softer springs with the better dampers should give the feel I want. (sorry, that's lots of very specific english vocabulary - i can try to explain better if you want. this is about subtle differences in how the car feels when driving).

ï also have the rough road package. I will probably be going for B6 with the current springs and then a rear ARB. A B12 kit should have B8 dampers, which are normally around 30mm shorter than the standard ones. So on my A2, I run the B8s with the -30mm Eibach springs and the combo works. For the Superb, I expect B6 with a different spring seat should drop it about 10mm from the raised height. I haven't seen an authoritative list of the parts that are different with the rough road package.

What's your odometer at..?
173k km. Wondering whether to change it for a lower-mileage one with more toys for about the same payment or keep it... decisions, decisions...

Odd door trim
do you have a part number? driver's rear for me has a massive gouge out of it and it's midly annoying. A Superb here in the street has the chrome missing from both rear doors, but agreed that this looks like it was re-done for some reason.

Handsfree disconnect in Android Auto
had my work A23s 5G disconnect at least twice today in my rental Tiguan. It's not the phone. My own car works fine with it, whether wired or not. Did you allow permissions? Which ones? I have no contacts or messages allowed, i just looked for the car on the phone, no android auto involved (though i use both that and BT connectivity in my own car with this phone without issue). Is auto-connect on on the phone? I'm pretty sure I allowed nothing on this car (as it's a rental) but my phone works fine with my 2018 Superb.

2 issues- phone too long for charging pad and Android Auto wireless working solution please
use the box under the center armrest? Will have to look into this AAWireless dongle, though I don't like the inability of Assistant to handle multiple languages. Super annoying when you actually *need* them. As in I try to say an address and have to pronounce it in an English way... or how assistant thinks it should be spoken in English. I've saved all key locations as favorites in the mean time... €90 doesn't seem too bad though.

Looking for a 190 bhp
a little bit of hunting on mobile.de to give some context from elsewhere in Europe: Search terms Superb, 2018 - 2020. < 80000km. Currently 160 manual. 1290 with "either". 2 (!) 4x4 manual. 6 manual with 190PS or more. So I think you might be looking for something that is *super* rare. It does exist in other markets, not 100% sure about the UK. I noted the other day that new Superbs are now DSG only here.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
inspection / katsastsus / MoT without issues. Rear discs / pads will probably need doing around the same time as the cambelt at the end of the summer.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
ticked over 163000. And it's filthy. Also my towball appears to be frozen in place, which is annoying as we wanted to use it today and again at the weekend... i think i will drop it into a heated parking garage tomorrow for a couple of hours and hope that fixes it. Loving the attitude with ESC Sport and snowy roads, it's a blast. Don't like the crappy consumption numbers from -22C though.

Intro, stereo, tyre and squeak
I did a serious upgrade involving Helix and Soundigital with a CSS sub. Very happy, but I suspect with a DSP and an amp you'll get quite far. . Bret

What have you done to your Superb III today?
got it serviced... €500 later, we have new oil, brake fluid and various other bits. Water pump is next time out at 180000km.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
rolled over 160000 last night on the way home. Very happy with it. needs a service again, though....just wondering if this will be water pump + cambelt time. 5 years old in March... maybe not just yet but it should be at 180000, I think.

Would you take a Superb estate over Passat estate if Passat is cheaper?
I prefer the ride of the Superb over the Passat but I did look at both. They're very, very similar. . Bret

What have you done to your Superb III today?
had mine handwashed by someone else. about time, too, apparently the dirt was sticking in places... but they did a good job and I'm satisfied. Now to be medically cleared to drive again would be nice....

Changing xenon bulbs to LED
This is ref 45 and e-marked. Why would this not be legal? ECE says it's fine and it's compliant with the reference number, i.e. the total light output allowed may not be more than ref 100 - and the standard bi-xenon is 17,5 each side. Total of 35+45 = 80. It wouldn't surprise me that there needs to be an entry into your part 1 document, but I would definitely ask at your local ITV centre. The results are awesome. . Bret

Changing xenon bulbs to LED
one of these: https://www.lumise.eu/auxiliary-lights/lazer-linear-18-elite-led-light-bar/p/8020100196/ pics of the light output (which are kind of negative in comparison to real life) are here: https://valovertailu.com/valovertailu-2021-2022/ Will take some pics myself when I'm allowed to drive again.... but I've seen reflections from 2km, which I think is OK. It's a world away from the "flip up the mask" of the bi-xenon: switching bi-xenons to high beam doesn't add more light, they just stop blocking the top part. My linear 18 is also definitively not connected to CAN, but with some direct connection - I'll have to grab the wiring diagram when i have some time and take a look at how they have done it. It's so good the wife's car is getting one. And I want to replace the Comet Xenons on the old car with one, too. . Bret

Changing xenon bulbs to LED
this would be why I have the Lazer Linear 18. It wasn't cheap but it is very good. . Bret

Headlights
or if you turned them on. They need to be set to Auto, I believe.
-
Pinout Headlight connector (Bi-xenon) ?
you don't need to do this, there's the bulb for the eyebrows. My Linear 18 is spliced directly in. Can show if needed. And yes, the standard high beam is on the borderline of "OK", it's not "good" by any stretch. did you already log in to erWin to check for the wiring diagram?

2.0 TDI 4x4 MPG
Saw a 4 in front of the comma yesterday, 4.7 to here, which puts me squarely in 60mpg territory. That's with 7C outside and winter tyres, with 50/60mph limits. It's around 20% better than with the 80/100/120 summer limits, same tyres. My numbers are in my sig, here. They represent the 40k kms from the last year.
