  1. How often are you gonna put the pedal to the metal? My almost four-year average in a 220 bhp tsi is 36.5 mpg. But when I want to go, it has plenty of power. What is does not have is 4WD. However, you can probably get a pretty good deal on a diesel. Different strokes for different folks.
  2. Code scanner By contrast, I bought one on Amazon for £12, if all you want to do is read codes. The one above is unavailable, but has links to others. Make sure the one you choose reads VWs. I used mine in my Alfa Romeo Brera and it worked well for simple code reading. I've never had a reason to plug it into my Sportline.
  3. I share your annoyance. You'd think for £30K they could throw in a printed manual. It's not just the automobile industry, either. My new OLED television has no printed manual. At least I can sit in front of the telly with my laptop. It's more difficult in a car.
  4. I bought the sales manager's Corrida red 66-reg Sportline. I thought the colour was great. But, when I returned to the dealership for a service, he'd put a Dragon Green model on the showroom floor. My heart sank. What a colour! I'd go for the one pictured at the top of this thread. Lovely motor. Add a pedal box and take it easy in the corners.
  5. No, it's not. I think there are four positions on the intermittent wipe switch. If the fastest is not fast enough, flick the lever up one or two positions.
  6. Ha! There's a name that conjures up a vision: sounds like where you stop to have your last ever drink. 🙂
  7. You can organise your songs/albums into folders, which will keep things together.
  8. Yes. Excellent colour choice! 😀
  9. I checked out cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk and found out that the slang for Å koda is "whiskey", as in whiskey and soda. Mockney.
  10. @mrgf I know what a gipsy's kiss is, but "busting for a Sally" is lost on me? What's the rhyme?
  11. Reassuring to know that a job like that can be done at the roadside, instead of having to be towed to a garage. Money aside, you were pretty lucky alright.
  12. I think the remap aspect is irrelevant. The dtuk pedal box only "remaps" the throttle pedal to take out the slack in the initial movement of the pedal. The controller allows you to select a less sporty or more sporty mode, but also allows you to switch the pedal box off. It's like a rheostat for the pedal, but does not affect any other aspect of the engine management. Make sense?
  13. I've successfully used man-maths to counter adulting. However, selling my motorcycle and buying a Å koda may have given me away a bit.
  14. Ha! I usually blame it on autocorrect. 😀
  15. Nice. I'll have to give that a try. Normally, I do all that when I'm still inside the car.
  16. I believe you must touch the door handle: with the key fob about your person, you grab the handle to unlock, you touch the little oval sensor on the outside edge of the handle to lock. What I like on these summer days is if you hold down the unlock button on your key and hold it until all the windows have fully opened and the sunroof has popped up. Nice.
  17. @MarkyG82 There is quite a bit of difference with DCC between the floaty Comfort mode and the much stiffer Sport mode. In Individual mode, you can mix and match to suit. It's nice to have the choice over varying road conditions. I don't know how much the DCC option costs, it came with my demo purchase, but I can't believe it's much different than a complete after market suspension kit plus labour. Depends on how much you need to play with your car, I guess.
  18. When I used to frequent the Alfa Romeo site, people used to complain about red paint being "soft" and easily picking up stone chips. My corrida red car has its share of chips, mostly on the bonnet. The only protection is a bi-annual polish and wax. A bottle of touch up paint comes in very handy.
  19. Well, I'm no detective, but I'd guess you were exceeding the national speed limit and and taking a photograph while driving. Ha! Only jealous because I can only manage an average of about half that. 😀
