  1. it looks like part of the middle section has rusted off. i bought some exhaust repair kit and fixed it that way.
  2. thank you guys, im only small(5 foot) so the small area isn't too bad. all fixed now
  3. got a quote between 45 and 70 to sort the exhaust sleeve. does that sound about right?
  4. i am normally careful, i will ring garage up soon.
  5. i thought that's how the axle stand is used.
  6. just jacked my car up and put an axle under the sill lenghth way and it it slipped off the sill, i nearly had an heart attack! then i put the axle other way round and it stayed . first time it slipped.
  7. yeah the wood is a good idea and object under the jack but even better, get a better jack. the nearest halfords is 20 miles away so i think i am going to get them to post it me.
  8. yeah but because the axle does not have the clip shape to go on the sill, the thin metal is getting flat/squashed from the axles head being under it, quite scary to tell you the truth.
  9. yeah, dont kno what they are called
  10. that is very cheap! thanks that key looks identical to mine, the PN is something to do with the chip right? so i need to find one with my PN number then the chip will be same as mine? how much was it to program it?
  11. tried putting teh axle stand where i have circled on your picture but it was too low, i managed to put the axle on the thin metal as that was bit higher.
  12. thank you again, will try a hack saw. always something in cars isn't there?
  13. thank you wino, i have seen that video too, ok i will try again to take that other sleeve off but ive tried hammering it, tapping it with a flat screwdriver and it just does not want to budge to the end of pipe.
  14. got one clamp off but couldnt take the other clamp off, i did manage to move the clamp further down the pipe so i can fit a sleeve onto it.. no, didn't take any pictures unfortunately.
  15. on one end it has to be 56mm open and the other end 54mm open, i was thinking if i get a 56mm open one then i should be able close the other end up at 52mm?
  16. still havent sorted this out yet as the 52mm od sleeve i just bought fit on 1 pipe but not the other, the other od diameter is 54mm so looks like i would need a sleeve with one end bigger than the other which i cant seem to find with clamps. only ones i can find is these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5-63mm-Mild-Steel-Aluminised-Exhaust-Adapter-Sleeve-Male-Female-Repair-Joint/283903414259?hash=item4219f64ff3:g:~goAAOSwG-1Zv4eh and that doesnt have any clamps.
  17. i couldnt get the second clamp off but the other clamp just fell apart from rust. yes, i think you are right, i dont think the mechanic touched the first clamp.
  18. hi i measured the wrong part of the pipe when i ordered the clamp sleeve so i have now got the right size clamp sleeve so will fit it on tomorrow.
  19. still cant find, have asked for a quote on a local locksmith.
  20. thank you guys, i will have another look.
  21. hi guys, i seem to have misplaced my car key, luckily i have a spare. just wondering if anyone ordered a key from skoda? i want to know what prices im looking at many thanks
  22. hi sepul the jack works perfectly but just not high enough for the axles. i have decided to use some axles as before i was relying on just the jacks.
  23. thank you again, will buy one from halfords im guessing this will do https://www.halfords.com/tools/garage-workshop/axle-stands-trolley-jacks/halfords-2-tonne-hydraulic-trolley-jack-657081.html
  24. thank you my tyre jack does not go up that high for the axle, was thinking once i have put the axle on lowest settings, i use the jack again with a block of wood to go to next level on the axle.
  25. is it this part where i have circled?
