  1. try it when your rough idle starts again, as mentioned by wino, it might just be your gas pedal and not a leak.
  2. mine doesnt move too, its hard to explain it really. it just seem to fix it when i pull the pedal towards me even though it doesnt move.
  3. my problem starts like yours when it is warm or driving awhile, i notice as soon as the engine is warm and i go to press clutch down then the needle gets to below 1k then goes further down then back up till i pull the pedal up then its fixed. what did you mean the throttle didnt move?
  4. all this time i thought it was the pedal as when i do that pedal pulling then its fixed, i just had what the mechanic told me stick in my head so i thought just keep doing that pedal pull for now. yeah as wino have mentioned, try the pedal pull @BrumTom_
  5. it seems the OP car is same as mine: heres some pictures of my engine, the bit the op pipe is taped up, mine is ok so no idea where the leak is, will need to have a proper look/hear.
  6. hi guys, i have had this problem since i got my car, i didnt know it was a leak till i read this thread. it happens when i press the clutch and when the rev needle goes back down to below 1k, it carries on going down to 500 then backup again just like the OP. i did ask my mechanic and he told me it would be a big job so then i left it, it turns out it goes back to normal when i pull the gas pedal up (by putting my foot behind the pedal and pull it towards me). i will have a look at where the leak is then try change the pipe, hopefully i can fix it.
  7. apologies to hijack this thread but was wondering if this applys to my car too? thinking about doing the same. so i just take the panel off behind the handbrake?
  8. i have thoroughly enjoyed reading thsi thread so happy that you have sorted it mate if i had to change an engine, i wouldnt know where to start so kudos to you
  9. mine is the dance stereo and this is the harness i got for it: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-2007-2010-Car-Stereo-Quadlock-Wiring-Harness-Ignition-Generator-Lead/262319713590
  10. hi i have managed to change my stereo after a few weeks, it is quite awkward. i got myself a single din stereo then hd to get a single din stereo converter adapter. i thought it was straight forward but it wasn't, had to get the harness too. problem was the stereo wont turn on if the ignition is off, if i had my original stereo then i can switch the stereo on without starting the car. hope this helps.
  11. yes i have a haynes book, forgot about that. thankyou. do you think that link what i posted above will do the job? thank you again

  17. thank you, i will ring skoda tomorrow. this might sound stupid but does having a holein the flexi pipe effect the fuel? such as using more?

  19. hi guys, my abs broke just after the adapter, i cant seem to find it on google or ebay, they all come up with the adapter. i need the cable that goes to the abs adapter from the ecu. many thanks guys
  20. i want to try sort it myself, its the part under the engine, will i need this part? am guessing its the flexi part. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-MK1-MK2-1-2-Exhaust-flexi-Repair-section-cat-flex-front-pipe-01-14/283197130586?fits=Car+Make%3ASkoda|Model%3AFabia|Cars+Type%3A1.2|Plat_Gen%3AMK+II&hash=item41efdd475a:g:aiwAAOSwF2FbuIXi
  21. i have just read another thread that a guy got the part that was blowing fixed for 150 so i guess my price isnt too bad.
  22. i got quoted by a back street garage for 165 fitted for the same part. i guess it is not far off from what you are paying, i thought maybe i was being lied to.
  23. the mechanic told me the whole exhaust pipe is 240 pound, i have seen loads on ebay for much less, am i getting lied to?
