  1. Bahrain FP3 times suggest the usual RBR and Mercedes shoot out for Pole at 2pm (GMT).
  2. Costs between £60 and £100 depending on where you go.
  3. Day 16 completed another 52 minutes and 22km this afternoon bringing the totals to 432km and 19 hours 1 minute. Six days rest now and back on the bike next Friday after 72 hours at work.
  4. Went for a 6km walk before dinner last night and the pedals seemed really heavy this morning so managed just 12km in a 31 minute session. Now 18 hours 9 minutes and 410km total distance.
  5. Despite cleaning the wife's car at lunch time managed another 22km this afternoon in 54 minutes again making the total distance now 398km. Total saddle time now 17 hours 38 minutes.
  6. Day 15 morning session completed and started hard hitting 5km in just 12 minutes was feeling strong so I ended up doing 54 minutes so now total in 16 hours 44 minutes and 22km completed in that period. Overall total distance now 376km.
  7. Just paid £1.069 per litre today for petrol at Sainsbury's supermarket and as the price falls closer to £1 per litre the amount of tax as a percentage increases to 75% or 75 pence from the £1 at the pump.
  8. Not sure on that feature but I would imagine the new fobs match Model year 20 Karoq's built from summer 2019 (August updates after summer factory closure).
  9. We had both key fobs replaced under warranty in October 2019 on our Jan 2018 Karoq with KESSY when both failed despite the AA Patrolman testing both batteries and declaring them with adequate voltage. Yes the alarm goes off when the manual back up key is used to open the car. The AA guy took about 5 minutes to start the car holding the defective fob against the stop/start button before the chip in the key was recognised by the car which silenced the blaring alarm. We drove straight to the local dealer while the engine was running on a Saturday and left the car with them to fix. Took 2 weeks for the new keys to arrive and 30 minutes coding required at the dealers with the new keys all F.O.C.
  10. Day 14 complete now 15 hours 52 minutes and after a harder afternoon session managed to complete 34km today so the total now stands at 354km.
  11. Been quite some time since I did a detailed update on my wife's Moon White Karoq which we bought on 26th January 2018. The original Braga 18" alloys and Michelin Primacy 3 tyres (215/50R18 front wheel drive size) are sitting in our garage after 27,000 miles on the car. It is currently fitted with the 19" Superb Vega alloys which are 1" wider at 8" and have Bridgestone S001 Performance tyres in 235/40R19 dimension. These have increased fuel consumption by around 10% but I have been impressed by the increased grip in corners and very little extra tyre roar and still excellent ride comfort. Starting the year after 23 months ownership the car had done 22,500 miles and 11 months later it has now covered 28,336 miles. The main reason for the reduction is that my wife like so many now works from home so only uses it for home visits and when helping her service users with shopping. She is a Social Worker dealing with Adults With Learning Difficulties. The good news for us is that the Council pay a generous mileage expenses when she uses the car for work so she usually gets more for her mileage than the monthly fill up requires. This year I have put 572.80 litres of regular unleaded at a total cost of £623.97 and the car has covered 5,795 miles (126 gallons exactly) which works out at an average of 45.99mpg which is not too far from the indicated 46.4mpg Long Term figure in the maxidot onboard computer. We have had no problems this year following 2 issues last year which were resolved around the car's only service so far at 18,700 miles in October 2019. They were just to recap the long awaited software update which has improved the cold engine skippy nature of the car from new which seems to be low torque related and possibly connected to the alternator. It has not completely gone but is much more driveable than before. Another issue which many early KESSY equipped Karoq's suffer from was the failure of both key fobs in quick succession after 21 months which was diagnosed eventually to a batch of faulty key fobs which were both replaced under warranty thankfully. The second service (variable service plan) is not due until October 2021 when the brake fluid will be changed for the first time. The first MOT is due in just 2 months time and the original wipers (all 3 of them) are still in excellent condition and they will also be replaced at the second service which should be at around 35,000 miles. The gearbox has been getting better with age and is now very slick even comparing to the 6 speed manual on my previous Octavia Vrs245. Compared to my current 150PS diesel 2020 Superb DSG the Karoq feels like a sports car owing to it's relatively light 1,360kg kerbweight. The Superb is around 1,500kg and takes about 10 seconds to get to 60mph (but compensates with 66mpg average so far) whereas the Karoq does the sprint in around 8.5 seconds. Overall we are very pleased with the car and it replaced a top of the range Skoda Rapid SE Sport 1.2TSi 6 speed manual which also averaged around 46mpg over 28,500 miles and 3 years between 2015 and 2018. We find the high standard spec of the SEL and the practical 3 rear vario flex seats which can fold up cinema style or can be removed completely so if you need to load long or bulky items (I used the Karoq to collect laminate flooring boards for our kitchen, lounge and master bedroom) it is as practical as the Roomster or Yeti were before it. We paid £23,500 including metallic paint and the RRP is now around £27,500 before discounts. We like this car so much we plan to keep it for 10 years and then sell it when we retire and move to a sunnier climate somewhere.
  12. Having been inspired to make more use of my free gift from my 79 year old Dad about 12 months ago I recently spent 13 days during a quarantine period at home cycling 320km (200 miles) and taking 14 hours 12 minutes to complete. Starting 3 rest days now so I came up with a plan to do 6 x 50 minute sessions (total 5 hours every 9 days). Judging by the first session today I should manage around 31km per day or 93km over 3 days. By Friday this should see my total reach 411km and I began this fitness regime on Monday 9th November. What I have noticed so far is that the machine seems to calculate that 100 calories are consumed every 4.4km. I am currently 14 stone 7lbs so will monitor this once per month to see if there is any weight loss. I am 1.85 metre tall or around 6 feet tall.

Saw it at Snetterton and it could reach 152mph on the pit straight. Mind bendingly awesome.
  14. After scraping the frost off the car this morning it only managed 58mpg going home but milder weather during rush hour gave a better 68mpg. Now 270 miles driven and only 700 miles left in the tank.
  15. Finally cleaned the SEL. Not that it was dirty just covered in my neighbour's cat's dirty paw prints.
  16. Might be worth mentioning the lower mileage when your renewal is due they may reduce the premium accordingly.
  17. I think tension setting 4 which is the midway point between 1 too easy and 8 too hard feels like you are climbing up a gradual incline rather than cycling on a flat piece of road. Did a hard 10 minute session this morning covering 4.3km which is the same time the bus did from our Hotel in Cyprus to Pafos Bus station which is the same distance including stops. It takes 50 minutes to walk that distance for comparison which we did many times. Anyway 32 days off work plus 100km walked and 320km cycled so I must be fitter than a month ago.
  18. Final instalment finished my personal challenge on day 13 with my target of 320km reached in 14 hours 12 minutes. Didn’t intend to break any records just bored watching TV and needed something to do. Back to work soon Thank God.
  19. Thought it might get locked by a moderator like my last MPG thread.
  20. Well after 29 minutes of the fourth session wearing the wife's Garmin went flat out for 60 seconds and recorded a peak 116BPM. Wednesday did 44km, yesterday 46km and today 48km all in the same 2 hours (now 12 hours total). Total distance cycled 271km in 12 days. If I was allowed outside without incurring a £1,000 fine then I would be on my mountain bike but that would illegal.
  21. Thanks good to have positive advice for once. Don't start sweating until 20 minutes and evidence that I am getting fitter is 3 days ago it was taking me 30 minutes to cycle 10km but earlier today I reached 10km after 23 minutes which is a big improvement. Didn't realise Lee was a keen follower of cycling.
  22. Colin we all respect there are about a dozen people on here who goad, blatantly taunt me (bully me if you want it more clearly) and they report it when I respond in kind. I am not the problem just the one they like to pick a fight with. I didn't ask non cyclists to comment on my 259km in 11.5 hours over the last 12 days or comments about me buying cheap knock watches on ebay when the truth is it was bought from PC World (mac recently had a pop at them) for £200.
  23. Who gives a flying ...... what you think. You always sound so bitter whatever you type.
  24. Two 30 minute sessions so far today and a further 23km so now up to 246km and should hit 270km by the end of the day. Some people talk about exercise and like the NIKE advert others JUST DO IT.
  25. I would ring Ben at AmD in Essex. I know they are not 5 minutes walk from you but I have made the 130+ mile journey each way several times and trust the guy with all my cars and I've never had a single issue. Explain your situation and he will help enlighten you.
