Usually caused by the EGR valve sticking open slightly allowing exhaust gases (too much) to enter the cylinders and therefore less air to enter cylinders. Replace EGR valve with new one. Quite common not just on VAG engines. No idea of cost.

Yeah ran a 17 plate 245 for 29,000 miles from standard to stage 1 remap and then changed all the hardware to go stage 2. Went from 249 to 302 to 336bhp. Had a full Milltek resonated system fitted (£1,200) and HJS downpipe another £600 with 200 cell sports cat. Probably not noisy enough for most but bear in mind non-resonated systems can be boomy when cruising at constant revs. You get more enjoyable noise from a good cone air filter sucking in the air during gear changes TBH. THAT WILL BE £300 TO HAVE SOMEONE REMOVE THE OLD AIR BOX AND REPLACE INCLUDING A METAL HEATSHIELD. If I did it again I would fit say an Airtec cone air filter and keep the exhaust standard plus a good remap such as Revo and limit myself to say a budget of £800 then you have a good performance package with enhanced noise.

GPF not fitted on the 245 until 2018. Just catalytic converter shown.

If I owned a 190bhp Karoq with the 7speed DSG I would be averaging over 40mpg because after starting my Superb the second thing I do is select Eco mode and take full advantage of the lift and coast. If the lag bothers you get a remap to around 250bhp and 450nm of torque. Can't say I've noticed much lag in Eco because my Superb does 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds and 0-100mph in 10.5 seconds. Over 9,000 miles it has averaged 39.90mpg not bad for a 1,660kg 4WD auto.

Back in the Superb this morning after it was parked in the drive for a week and delivered an impressive 42.7mpg on the commute but the average speed was quite low at 42mph due to roadworks and traffic. 204 miles driven and 420 miles left in the tank.

Having driven down to Newquay recently it is indeed a bit of a rollercoaster motorway and on one steep downhill section I lifted and coasted in Eco and saw 800rpm and 90mph which made me chuckle. My shifts are also 12 hours long starting with 3 days 0600-1800 and 3 nights 1800-0600 and my best economy is at 5am in the morning and the worst at 5pm trying to get past those going home.

Comparing my commute to yours 27 miles each way with 17 miles of motorway always in Eco never use the paddles as with a stage 1 remap since 6,400 miles it responds just as quickly in Eco, Normal or Sport (the way it is programmed) with a best commute of 49.3mpg and 2 long distance holiday trips in July (210 miles at 48.0mpg) and September (280 miles at 48.3mpg) giving an overall 39.90mpg over 9,000 miles and 9 months. To average less than 30mpg you must be using full power launching away from traffic lights or driving at more than 70mph on the motorway where the 6speed 280 DSG will be revving higher than 2,300rpm. Every 10mph over the speed limit will increase fuel consumption by 10%. The extra 7th gear in the 272 helps motorway cruising to drop to 1,750rpm at 60mph or 2,000rpm at 70mph. Rarely need more than 3,000rpm due to 215bhp and 480nm available also helps. Maximum torque in the 272/280 arrives at a fairly high (for a turbo car) 4,500rpm but my stage 1 car hits peak torque at 2,800rpm so might be a good time to consider a remap and have the best of both worlds, more performance and better economy.

Thanks to @Tim1631 with his Revo blog post on the Bosch Direct Injection and GPF equipped cars such as my Superb 272. A must read for any 272 owner it explains how they were surprised on their test FWD Cupra GPF with stock 286bhp and 380nm engine they were surprised the GPF wasn't as restrictive as they expected. Indeed after 5,000 miles of testing (8,000km) in road conditions it was allowing 515nm of reliable torque and 370bhp. They decided to dial back the launch torque figure to 500nm to protect the clutch packs so we will see how my 514nm AmD map copes long term. They also commented that the 7speed DQ381 is an excellent gearbox and easily adapts to more than stock power and torque and doesn't need a TCU upgrade until you reach stage 2 levels which is good to hear. Another interesting comment was that FWD cars such as the Cupra and Vrs245 have one larger GPF but 4WD cars such as the Golf R and Superb 272 have two smaller GPF's. The FWD development Cupra dropped from 0-60mph in stock form from 5.67seconds to 5.18seconds and the 0-100mph time dropped from 12.04seconds to 10.44seconds which is almost identical to my heavier 4WD Superb. The stage 1 Cupra gets to 60mph 7/8 metres faster than the stock car and 15 metres faster to 100mph compared to stock to demonstrate the performance gains over stock. My Superb with the 2 smaller GPF's for reference compared to the Cupra produced 283bhp and 369nm as standard. They also state they would not recommend a GPF delete by any owner because that would make it illegal under European vehicle legislation.

Very interesting read and puts to bed many subjects regarding older non-GPF cars compared to more recent GPF equipped cars.

The rear wiper should be a no cost option like the Superb. If the customer doesn't remember to ask for it this saves Skoda manufacturing costs. Currently £2,000 off on PCP orders placed before 4th Jan 2021 and delivered before 31st Mar 2021.

We only paid £879 PP for 14 nights all inclusive when you will pay more to book direct with the hotel for room/food plus cost of flights and transfers. 4 Star rated.

My Superb is 18 months old and just under 14,000 miles yet the first oil change is still 3 months away according to the onboard computer. It will get the Inspection service at around 42 months and whatever the mileage is then. I bought the car last December with 2 free services however.

Finally after 11 months without leaving the UK we booked 2 weeks in Cyprus last night........and no it's not Aiya Napa, bit old for that place. Looks a nice Hotel right on the beach and it has a car related name if anyone wants to have a guess. Cherry on the cake was the price with an extra discount from TUI. Just need to get Covid tested the week we fly.
