Bag in coolant.
This seems to be the easiest and least-risk option.

It's such a good book, I really wish they'd update it.

Bag in coolant.
This is really helpful, as I think I have a similar set-up where you can't just fish the bag out with your fingers like the videos suggest. I wonder how robust this bag actually is, when clamped in that position?

Finding a decent Mkiii Octavia
I wouldn't say white cars struggle to stay looking clean, but they do struggle to look impressively shiny unless under sympathetic lighting. Now black cars, they DO struggle to stay clean looking, but on the other hand, they shine beautifully. Touching up stone chips on white cars is a piece of cake, they just seem to disappear when you've done them.

Listers Skoda - Coventry
I should be okay cleaning/replacing the filter myself. I'm just dreading the pain in the backside glovebox removal to get at it.

Listers Skoda - Coventry
Thanks @e-RoottootI'll get onto that. I'll phone and ask the dealer if they cleaned the filter, and if not, I'll ask why. Maybe there's a good reason they didn't touch it. Thanks again for raising the issue, good spot!

I have not. I take it that is not the "Filterelem" in the service?

Listers Skoda - Coventry
Used Listers Skoda Coventry to service my car today. I booked the car in for a specific time. I arrived just before the specified time, to find ample parking with good spaces between vehicles, despite a fairly crowded car park. I waited a few minutes to be served while another customer was served, then handed over my key and watched the car sit where I'd parked it for just over an hour after the original appointment time, until they took it into the workshop. I had free access to toilets, hand sanitiser and a decent-quality coffee machine. The waiting environment was comfortable and pleasant. After half an hour, my car emerged and I was charged £245.00. Cost break down is as follows: KCS1 Long Life 1 Service £108.16 K06L103801 Drain Plug £4.09 K06L115562B Filterelem £9.61 KWHT000729A Bolt * 3 £3.99 KG052164M1 Cleaner £4.22 OIL-4 Mobil 1 ESP x2 0W20 *5.7 £74.10 Subtotal £204.17 Total including VAT £245.00 When the parts receptionist showed me how to see how long & many miles until the next service, she noticed the service indicator had been reset incorrectly, and instigated its correction which was made quickly. (UPDATE: Turns out it was NOT set correctly.) I was offered a wash and vacuum which I declined, and the car was not noticeably soiled during the service, bar a tiny greasy foot mark on the sill kick-plate. The staff were friendly and professional throughout, but waiting 1 hour while my car sat doing nothing, having booked a specific time and advising them I would be waiting for the car, was frustrating. Other than that, I have no issues with the service I received there. Oil filled to correct level and was lovely and clean when I got home. All in all, a good experience, apart from the waiting, which in fairness was my choice. (A quick look at the workshop showed it to be clean and well-lit.)

What is included in the spare wheel foam insert?
Sounds about right, but not sure what this thing is. Also now wondering if my 16" spare wheel will clear my brake disks which seem to only just about fit under 17" wheels.

Ah! That's what that other thing is. Thanks!

This is my spare tyre with insert. Never used it, but you get a jack, wheel nut spanner and towing eye in the insert. Looks like there's some sort of allen key thing, too. Not sure where the locking wheel nut dongle is... Edit: Oh! There it is, to the right of the towing eye.

1.0 tsi 110hp - any high mileages already?
That's a very good question. I was surprised to find out my car had one, as the DPF put me off diesel when replacing my car, then I found out the petrol car had a GPF. I've only done short journeys in the year I've had it (I've only done about 1K miles in the last year) but I do make sure I drive the car far enough so it gets up to a reasonable running temp, getting the oil up to over 60 deg C. (Water temp gets up very quickly, but I ignore that.) I only potter about in it locally, and I've been using very light throttle to maximise my MPG. I don't know what the correct driving style is to clear a GPF, but I'm sure more info will emerge as more and more cars are on the roads with a GPF. I'm due to go on holiday before too long, so it will have a good 600-700 mile run over a week, so that ought to do it good. (Or reveal any issues.)

Listers Skoda - Coventry
That is quite a deal! I hope Listers are okay for servicing as I intend to take my Octavia there to be serviced. King's Heath is nearer, but I just can't be doing with trying to park at the place.

Front splitter
It's the front edge I'm most worried about, as that's the bit that gets grounded on speed bumps and steep drives. One of my neighbours has a steep kerb drop and there's a regular "Graunch!" for all sorts of cars as they visit the old dear who lives there. We've also got some right nasty bumps round by me.

How much ground clearance did you lose, if any?

Front splitter
That's not a bad idea. Of course the obvious thing to do would be to ask a dealer how much it would cost to have one retrofitted, to give yourself a starting figure. (Actually I'm guessing a lot of dealers will say "It's not something we do.")

This thread might help you with that reversing camera. Sasha is very knowledgable on mods to the MK3 Octavia.

Would you sell the car you love and why not?
Oof! That Capri sounds like an appreciating treasure. What a dilemma! It'd be great if you had friends or family who could give you somewhere safe to keep the Capri, assuming you don't need the cash sharpish. I had to bail out a mate who's garage got broken into in a attempted burglary to nick his beloved motorbike. He was very paranoid and I offered to store it in my garage for a couple of weeks while he improved security at home. The couple of weeks turned into about 3 months, but I was happy to help at the time.

Hi Vasilis! What extra features are you looking for?

Front splitter
Hi @Diljit. I was just looking at these and thinking they look pretty cool. Not sure I fancy drilling a load of holes in the bottom my front bumper though. Not sure how the Skoda front lip is fitted, but it does look nice and doesn't seem to compromise ground clearance much, if at all. I was searching through the forum, and I couldn't find anyone that's fitted the Skoda one, folks tend to go for 3rd-party splitters. The black grill looks cool too, but mine is chrome. Not sure how I feel about changing that, as I quite like the chrome. I could go for the black mirrors and rear spoiler, though. As you can tell by my "Not sure"s, I'll probably leave my SE L standard.
