  1. well, Skoda UK say "you need to get the Dealer to check it out before we can decide if any Goodwill can apply" and that the diagnostic check would cost £100 It's probably not worth paying even more for the extra check, in the hope that there might be some money off what will likely be a more expensive repair bill
  2. Resurrecting this thread to say I have a 19 reg vRS 245 with less than 30k miles on it, which gave me the "COOLANT WARNING" beeps 8 weeks apart. Local independant has comfirmed it's the water pump, quoting me all in roughly £900 said it was common thing on some VAG cars due to plastic pump he suggested getting in touch with Skoda to see about a contribution but I'm not sure it's worth trying
  3. Love the sunflowers, Beefy. We've been growing some, and one of them grew weird at the top making it look heart shaped. We have lots of bees on our ball thistles (echinops?) as well
  4. Look in the used car section of local main dealers *- the 3 garage dealership group nearest me doesn't put any of their used cars on Auto Trader *yes, yes I know they are likely to be overpriced but it does give you more ideas
  5. Have now seen a black / dark grey iX in the metal at work, it doesn't look too bad to me.
  6. I asked about it when I collected the car, was told it was "just advisory" and I could get it done another time
  7. My vRS is in for 3 year service today. The visual health check just came back and mentioned the front diff oil (amber) needing changed after 3 years, £110 I had no idea beforehand that it was a job needing doing (have had separate specific emails /adverts about servicing and brake fluid based on car age) nor did they mention it when I called to book it in. They haven't (yet) called me to ask if I want it done today either.
  8. I guess what's important is the distance from the clip to the free end, rather than the overall length of the blade
  9. I need to replace the rear wiper on my vRS estate. The current one is 14 inches long, but when I looked in Halfords the suggested replacements (both own brand and Bosch) were either 16 inches (would be too big) or 13 inches Seems odd that there isn't a direct match. Has anyone else faced this recently? Did you just put up with the decrease in swept area?
  10. Listened to the race this morning in bed, and then actually bothered to watch the C4 highlights in the afternoon.
  11. I'm not particularly complaining that the compulsory part exists, was just wondering if that part - in other people's experiences - seems to be bigger than it used to be. My current policy - and their proposed renewal - has a £0 total excess. So I was surprised to see nothing similar in the results from the price comparison website
  12. I've just done a price comparison run for insurance renewal. As usuall asking for 0 voluntary excess. Given that my current policy is genuinely £0.00 excess (except for young drivers, non approved repairs and a bit for windscreens) I was surprised to see how much compulsory excess (often 200-300 pounds) that some of the results were wanting to add on, and none of them had a £0 compulsory excess Anyone else noticed this, or are my memories of previous renewals rose-tinted and I just got lucky before ?
  13. A fiver per battery. I did something wrong when I tried to change mine recently and goosed 2 out of 3 keys See my post from Nov '21 but check the advice below that about draining the residual power before putting the new battery in.
  14. Wasn't sure if I should post this here, or the Lego thread https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/mclaren-launches-1432-piece-lego-model-of-its-2021-f1-car/7988748/
  15. i recently had the warning for all 3 of my (non KESSY) keys for my Mk3 (car just less than 3 yrs old) whereas my Mk 2.5 lasted 6 years and never needed a replacement. I messed up when putting the new batteries in and effectively bricked 2 of the keys - when I spoke to the dealership about it to get them fixed they said their standard expectation now is that key batteries will only last 6 months.
  16. yep, freaked me out a bit the first time I encountered them - folks are still down there and I hadn't visited in ages - but it certainly helps get across the carriageway safely. When they introduced the 50 limit for that stretch it seemed to actually make it harder to get across (steady stream of traffic, fewer big gaps) than when people were allowed to do 70 (and some did more)
  17. Originally from Ayrshire (Symington) but live in West Lothian now.
  18. took a quick jaunt to the top part of the Falkirk Wheel this evening. Need to go back again another time and take some proper pictures.
  19. Didn't seem to help mine so I ended up popping into the dealership to check. Especially as the 3rd key was flashing the warning and I didn't want to kill it too Naturally, when they swapped the batteries for some of theirs, it's working magically
  20. Thanks, I'll give that a try
  21. I've got a good one. Changed the battery in Key 1. It unlocked the car and never flashed again with any button press. key 2, existing (old) battery, works fine. Swapped batteries round to see if New battery (NB) is faulty. OB(2) in k1, no flash. NB(1) in K2. Flashed a few times. Swapped back. NB1 in k1 = nothing. OB2 in k2 = nothing Uh oh.! Tried the re-synching from the manual but only succeeded in setting off the alarm from not starting the car soon enough after manually (key in lock) opening the door. Thankfully I have a third key, which works fine. But I'm now not sure if the issue is just with the batteries, the keys, or a bit of both
  22. Round the corner from me, at house number 33, one car is N33 with his initials, and the other is N33 with her initials I have W7 KPR in my avatar picture, but could never justify the cost of actually putting it on a car
  23. I was taken with the colours in this ripening chilli pepper
  24. Layers and filters and stuff. I never bothered learning it, but really should
