  1. The cornering lights aren't worth much but that's more so because the LED beam pattern is so wide and so consistent to start with, there is really little need to widen it or turn it - i wouldn't be surprised if the cornering LEDs are there purely to tick a box on a spec sheet, so potential buyers don't need to 'see it to believe it' in regards the LED beam patterns.
  2. Was genuinely expecting an 'Irish' joke there about paddle shifters only being fitted to manuals or something.
  3. Self levelling systems are there for load compensation, in place of the old manual systems. Generally required on high output lights because where a halogen was irritating if Mr Caravan forgot to wind the dial down, Xenon/LED can be so bright as to be dangerous for oncoming vehicles.
  4. I thought the Power Valve system was the one that was actuated by boost pressure, so the valves opened on high boost but stayed shut on low boost?
  5. Won't help with any of your other questions but if you do opt for an off the shelf system, Milltek (and others) generally seem to participate in Black Friday sales and IIRC in 2019 they could be bought at 20% off, which is a good chunk of money on a £1000 exhaust!
  6. I use Yakima Aero bars on my estate with Thule 591s on T track fittings. Bars are pretty much silent, bike mount slides in and out quickly and easily. Generally leave the bars on.
  7. @shyVRS245 has already posted in this thread the weight of the Xtremes and Geminis, with tyres, the Gemini's are lighter, marginally.
  8. It's only lost nearly half it's value if you ignore the fact you can (and have been able to for a while) get £9,000 off list on a new Superb 272 Sportline Plus just by using a broker like Broadspeed. In reality it's lost more like £6,000-£7,000, which whilst still a big number, isn't anywhere near half it's value as a '£31,000 car'. RRPs these days are bordering on a fiction to make people think they're getting amazing deals or that their lease has 'beaten depreciation', nobody sane is walking into a dealer and paying RRP for new cars unless they're something special (think 911 GT3RS on release for example, where they could be flipped for more than new almost immediately).
  9. The 245 'Edition', originally launched in Summer 2017 and found on 17,67 and some 18 plates got a bunch of extras as standard. If this attachment works, this is the spec list from a Feb 2018 catalogue showing what it got above a regular vRS. After this, the 245 engine became the standard petrol offering and the 245 Challenge was introduced as the range topper, which had broadly the same extras along with DCC and Kessy.
  10. When the 245 was released in 2017 there was a lot of nonsense in the press about the standard 19s being necessary due to the MASSIVE BRAKES that were the same 340mm brakes as the 230 had, it was only the rears that got bigger on the 245 and they're not big enough to need 19s by any stretch. Standard motoring press nonsense.
  11. Judging by these posts, I don't think it is: Assuming correct, that would suggest 12kg vs 13.3kg for 18" Gemini vs 19" Xtreme
  12. Yes, you need to use a Skoda SD card for Amundsen systems. To be on the safe side, copy everything currently on the card to your computer, so worst case if it goes wrong, you can simply copy that back and be back to where you started.
  13. It's where mine came from and have used them for servicing and more recently some warranty work as they're most local to me. They're generally good I find, reasonably flexible and communicative. Some of the warranty stuff needed a bit of pushing but I don't think that's a rarity amongst Skoda dealers.
  14. It's probably not the quickest way to get there but I think the Bluestar 6 will get you from Central to (I'm guessing) Meadens in Brockenhurst.
  15. Again a small 'be aware' post from me - regarding tuners, if you (or anyone else reading) had longer term plans to go Stage 2, APR UK have been pushed by APR USA and will no longer offer Stage 2 mapping to new customers after early September. Copy of announcement from their facebook page:
  16. It's literally 4 or 5 clicks to get to what you want. You don't need a VIN on the VW website.
  17. Try the VW site for a Golf 'upto 2015' with Discover Pro Would suggest backing up your existing data first but not sure how on Columbus where it's stored on the car hard drive
  18. Just be aware if you go with Mountune, they've just engaged KPMG to try and find a buyer - not entirely clear what their fate will be if nobody does buy it out, but worth going in with eyes open before spanking £400 on an intake. Their accounts are showing as nearly a year overdue on Companies House along with the founders resignation in July. Doesn't look like a great situation at the moment, which is a shame because they built a great reputation with their warrantied Ford tuning.
  19. Depends entirely on your type of driving Short journeys, inner city, traffic, stop/start at junctions and traffic lights / roundabouts everywhere - 30mpg maybe a touch under Long journeys, free flowing A roads and motorways, rarely accelerating/decelerating at junctions etc. - 40mpg and even a bit over A mix of the two, somewhere in between. Rag the absolute arse off it everywhere you go, even 30 would probably be a push
  20. My manual says the marking is on the B pillar but the diagram shows the airbag it refers to stretching up the A pillar, along the roof line above the B pillar, then down the C pillar a bit.
  21. The 13.5GB zip I downloaded from VW tail end of last year unpacked to 14GB, it fitted on the 16GB without needing to delete stuff
  22. Plot twist - he's 65 years old with 40 years NCB and only drives 12 miles a year 😛
  23. The 245 has a semi complicated history. When the Octavia was facelifted, the standard vRS was 230bhp. They also released the 'vRS 245' as a special in 2017, which came with various extras like the wheels as standard. These were only available to order for a few months. These cars are mostly 17 or 67 plates, with a few 18 plate examples. Following this, the regular vRS then became 245bhp in 2018 but without the extras. People also call these cars a 'vRS 245'. This was accompanied by the 'Challenge' which is equivalent to the the original 'vRS 245' and has various extras as standard. Unless someone has been swapping badges a quick way to tell is the 'special edition' cars have a black V on the badges, regular cars are grey. Inside, the 'vRS 245' and 'Challenge' get a (frankly gimmicky) 'Sports Information' screen that regular cars don't (again, unless someone has modified their car to have it added). I doubt you'll notice much straight line performance difference between a 230 and a 245 car but a 245 in all its forms will have the VAQ diff that a facelift 230 won't, which may appeal to you if you drive the car enthusiastically enough.
  24. As above, they'll fit. There was a lot of press nonsense back when the first 245 came out about needing 19s for the bigger brakes but it was only actually the rear discs that were any different and they're not big enough to demand 19s that's for sure. Just bear in mind the 19s were part of the '245' package when it was released, so future buyers may expect to see them, if you have room & funds to keep them stored.
