  1. If you'll be keeping the car for a couple of years, the 'All In' warranty and service pack might be worth a look instead of the warranty only product.
  2. As I said, that image isn't from the owners manual, it's from a workshop manual (or similar). The closest reference you'll see in the owners manual is the warning in the cargo section not to damage the heating and aerial elements on the rear window. If your DAB reception is particularly bad, it's possible a previous owner has damaged the aerial element on the window. I'm not sure if there is an easy way to connect an alternative standalone DAB aerial to replace it. A quick look on Google suggests the connection into the MIB unit for the DAB aerial is it's own separate connection, so it may be possible to retrofit your own replacement with a bit of research.
  3. Looking at your other threads, you don't have an estate - the side glass is only used on the estate (or Combi as that image calls it). In the hatchback, it's just in the rear glass i think. You can download appropriate owners manuals from Skoda's website, albeit that's not where the image above is from.
  4. Because 'Monte Carlo' trim cars come with more black trim and Kopacek are playing off that association, even though I don't think any Monte Carlo trim cars have actual black badges. I don't think Skoda have ever officially sold black badges as 'Monte Carlo' be that on the car or as an aftersales product. They're just gloss black resprayed badges, much the same as the rest of their range of resprayed badges. They won't match 'Black Magic' completely as they're not metallic. Crystal Black is metallic but a different shade to Black Magic, so again, not a complete match. They're probably the closest thing you'll find to what you want unless you paint your own badges up. Edit - actually my memory may be failing me, I think what Kopacek sell as 'Monte Carlo' are metallic and are probably Black Magic - a quick email to ask them should confirm.
  5. It's a fairly common problem with DSG cars, the switch that detects if the gear selector is in the Park position starts to fail. There's a part available now, that's an add-on switch that can be relatively easily retrofitted to solve the problem.
  6. I think you're talking about this pump - https://www.autodoc.co.uk/bosch/14762024 (I think this is the secondary water pump that circulates coolant after you turn the engine off) This is unlikely to be the culprit for a coolant leak, it'll be the main £350 pump that's failed (or more specifically, the housing of which will have developed a leak). If you're able to buy genuine VW Group part of these - https://www.awesomegti.com/ea888-gen-3-water-pump-repair-kit/ - for £80, I suggest you buy as many as you can and start selling them on eBay for £250, you'll make a fortune.
  7. https://www.awesomegti.com/ea888-gen-3-water-pump-repair-kit/ Are you sure that's £80 at a dealer? That's the part that's almost certainly caused a coolant leak on a TSI.
  8. Yes, it'll leave the Sat Nav doing it's thing on the infotainment, it'll just return the 'Maxidot' display back to it's previous screen - in your case, speed.
  9. Not that i'm aware of, but simply pressing the 'back' button on the steering wheel in this scenario (where the sat nav has taken over with it's direction prompts) will revert to the previous screen, no navigation of menus or anything is needed, just a single button press.

  11. Wait 40s to connect? It's quicker to the plug the phone in and at least it's charging too 😜 Always interesting to see someone try something new and reach a successful outcome but I don't think this is one i'll be in a hurry to try and replicate in it's current form. Do you have any plans to try and reroute the cabling and hide the box away? If not, i'd highly recommend 90 degree connector usb cables, they really tidy up having something plugged in.
  12. No, the Octavia Mk3/3.5 share the DSG paddle design with the Mk5/6 Golf, stuff designed for a Mk7 won't fit. https://www.dsg-paddles.com/blogs/news/volkswagen-paddle-shifter-guide-2021 As referred to on there as 'S6X'
  13. You can buy the OEM 'Black Chrome' exhaust tips but they're something daft like £100 per side if I recall correctly, so most people either DIY paint them with some high temperature gloss black paint or get them powder coated. They can be a bit awkward to get off due to locations of the fixing screws (which I think are Torx type) but are otherwise relatively easy to get done.
  14. The contents of an Oil & Inspection and Extended Scope are set out fairly clearly on Skoda's website and don't include much. Why would you assume that they include items like spark plugs that Skoda itemise and price seperately? I think the lesson here is to read the small print properly when you buy things, rather than make assumptions. They shouldn't have changed the plugs and then charged you without your prior authorisation to do the work but that's an entirely separate issue to whether they're included in a plan that said it covered Oil & Inspection / Extended Scope.
  15. What does it say by footnote 1? On the current similar offer for the Fabia it says: 2 Service plan covers first 2 consecutive services limited to 1 x Oil Service and 1 x Oil and Inspection Service with pollen filter. Skoda have always been quite coy with itemising the service requirements, rather than packaging them, so when they refer to 'a service' it normally only means an oil and filter change - https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/servicing-maintenance-fixed-price
  16. Well, there wasn't. There probably is now that everyone has decided they needed to buy fuel today 🤪
  17. Well there's an easy way to find out now - are people with numberplates that have no identifier or the old EU identifier but a GB sticker getting routinely nicked and fined by the French police now? If they are, i've obviously missed this bit of news. All that's changing is having to display 'UK' instead of 'GB', thanks to some pointless politics, supposedly to do with not upsetting NI. Much like driving with an old EU identifier plate now, it's not illegal to have it on your car abroad, it just doesn't fulfill the requirements to display the correct identifier anymore, so you have to supplement it (or change it if you don't want to use a sticker).
  18. This sounds a bit over the top and i'm not sure you meant it to. After the end of September, to drive in the EU you'll need a 'UK' identifier rather than a 'GB' one. If your number plates don't have a UK identifier on them, then you need a sticker. Saying they'll be 'illegal' is a bit dramatic, you're not going to get chased down by the French police as you drive off the ferry because your numberplate has GB or EU on it still, as long as you have the appropriate UK sticker instead.
  19. You're not, it'll only apply to plates being sold/fitted after the introduction date. So for brand new cars there'd be no excuse not to have a 145e plate but anything older than the introduction of the legislation updated standard, would be difficult for them to do anything about in practice as they'd struggle to prove whether the plate was fitted before/after the change. Full on show plates without any markings at all will be taking the same risk as they've always taken really.
  20. Grey or red was simply an option based on preference when ordering the car
  21. I don't think so, those were the standard wheel offering when the car was first launched, though they changed to the Gemini fairly soon into the lifecycle (maybe not even a year after release? not 100% sure), so all it's really an indication of is that it's a very early Mk3. I don't know off the top of my head if the earliest cars had any other standard spec differences to slightly later cars - you could try searching out a 2013 PDF brochure and a 2014 equivalent and see if there any key differences.
  22. As far as I know, they're 18s, the same size as the Gemini wheel that you see more often, with the Xtreme being the larger 19" offering with the hexagonal diamond cut pattern.
  23. That's a Mk2, not the same as what the OP is looking at and not the same wheels. Mk3 with Pictoris, below:
  24. The wheels sound like the Pictoris wheels that came on the very first of the Mk3s.
  25. In the infotainment system, one of the screens in the 'Car' selection (Vehicle Status I think it is), has a button with the stop/start symbol and the word 'Info' - pressing this will tell you what caused the engine to restart. It can be quite interesting to see the sorts of things that cause the car to decide to restart the engine, such as interior humidity.
