  1. What did you have on before? You'll struggle to find many objective recommendations for tyres better than the PS4 (assuming you're running 18" wheels as you've not mentioned PS4S) as they led the way in virtually every objective test they've been tested in, only really being bested relatively recently just prior to their replacement with the PS5. Your experience is very much at odds with my own experience of them too, albeit on my Mk2 - whilst they might not be the most feelsome tyres out there (and subjective feel is where they are often criticised in tests), for outright grip they're immense and the car could carry frankly ridiculous speed through corners for such a lump of a car once I swapped the FK510s for PS4. The only thing i'd personally be interested in running outside of the PS4/PS5 would be the latest Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric - I think they've just released the 6 - not sure if it's available in the correct size yet so if not, the 5.
  2. E85 is nominally 85% ethanol and 15% petrol. The number after the E is usually the expected/maximum ethanol content as a % by volume.
  3. Partially correct. Yes, the maximum is 10%. It also has a minimum ethanol content to meet in the UK, IIRC it's 5.5%. Unsure if other regions have similar minimums. Edit - as per below, from The Motor Fuel (Composition and Content) and the Biofuel (Labelling) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2021 Amendments to regulation 3 4. In regulation 3(2)— (a)in paragraph (2), for “Annex I of the Directive”, substitute “Table 1 of Schedule AA1”; (b)in paragraph (3), from “Annex I” to the end, substitute “Table 1 of Schedule AA1”; (c)in paragraph (4), for “Annex II of the Directive”, substitute “Table 2 of Schedule AA1”; (d)in paragraph (5)— (i)omit “before 1st January 2017”; (ii)for “3” substitute “1”; (e)in paragraph (7), for “Annex I of the Directive”, in both places it occurs, substitute “Table 1 of Schedule AA1”; (f)after paragraph (7) insert— “(8) Premium 95 grade petrol will not comply with a specified requirement unless, in addition to the requirements of paragraphs (2) or (3), it has a minimum ethanol content of 5.5% by volume measured in accordance with the test method referred to in Table 1 of Schedule AA1.”.
  4. Do the maps currently work? If they do and you just want to update, it's likely you have Columbus and any SD card will be fine. If the maps are not working, it sounds like Amundsen and so you'll probably need a genuine Skoda card - I think a few people on here sell them for considerably less than £260
  5. I'm not sure i'd say it's "meant to be" flexible enough, as in being designed to be used like that - it often may be flexible enough, but i wouldn't fancy trying it in cold weather for example.
  6. Use this instead - https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ Can also be found via Google - "skoda map update"
  7. It clips into the top of the plastic spare wheel retaining screw to stop it unscrewing itself.
  8. They'll almost certainly offer you something derisory in the first instance. Remember you don't have to just accept this figure. Start collating your own information on similar cars and how much they're advertised for as examples of how much it will actually cost you to return to the position you were in. It may also be useful to get some supplementary information such as WBAC, Motorway, carwow quotes for your registration as these will also help reinforce the true market value your car held. Be firm with them if they try and fob you off with comparisons to 220s that are clearly not an equivalent car.
  9. If you just want to know when the next service is due, you can see this on the infotainment - go to the 'Car' screen and then settings, if I recall correctly, it's near the bottom of the list of options that presents you.
  10. I was talking about the tyres I listed in the first place - they're obviously not UHP stuff but they're not dedicated 'eco' tyres like an EnergySaver could be considered, they're what I think most would refer to as 'Premium Touring'. I don't think Goodyear have a direct EnergySaver competitor in the 'eco' tyre market at the moment.
  11. Whilst they're clearly not UHP tyres, I don't think it's correct to paint them as 'Eco' tyres in the same bracket as things like the Michelin EnergySaver+. There's a balance to be struck with all these things and I'd certainly never advocate cheaping out on tyres but these all review very well and aren't going to present 'ditchfinder' type compromises on grip.
  12. There is license fee involved but €350 seems excessive. https://northeastvagadaptions.co.uk/products/skoda-smart-link-activation Some places like that link claim to be able to enable remotely. I've not used this company personally so don't take this as a specific recommendation, just an example of what's out there - you'll want to do your own research if you go that route.
  13. If you get the option showing, as far as I know, that should mean it's capable. If they tell you it can't be done, there's third party companies/people that probably can do it
  14. If you've got a 1.4 SE-L, as it would appear from your posting history, making the assumption you have 17" wheels with 225/45R17 tyres i'd probably be considering... Michelin Primacy 4 / Primacy 4+ Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 Bridgestone Turanza T005 Hankook Ventus Prime 4 also appear to be reviewing fairly well but not sure they're widely available here yet.
  15. I think that part number is a Bolero unit, so it doesn't have Navigation functionality no matter what SD cards you try inserting. At that age I suspect it also doesn't have Smartlink capability so plugging phones in won't give you AndroidAuto or Apple CarPlay.
  16. As I read it, they're putting in a general catch all term in the overall warranty terms that they'll not warranty anything unapproved, or deemed related to be unapproved. That doesn't necessarily dictate that they will warranty any modifications that you ask them to approve, only that there is a possibility. In this case they've confirmed to you that regardless of their 'approval' to have the vehicle modified, they'll not cover things related to the particular modification you wish to make. As an example, they may consider you asking a dealer to retrofit an OEM reversing camera as a modification - it's reasonable to think they might then be prepared to warranty such a modification as it's all OEM kit done by an authorised dealer but that doesn't necessarily extend to 'we will warranty any modification'. It does make the 'approval' process somewhat redundant feeling in your case, as they're not prepared to cover it either way - the cynic in me wonders if this is just to lure people into recording the modifications they make so it's easier for them to pick out something that'll let them reject claims.
  17. The standard TPMS is only relatively basic monitoring via ABS to identify if one tyre is out of sync with the others, it's not monitoring the actual pressures. You still need to check them regularly.
  18. Presumably there's some sort of clause in there that enables them to revalue the trade-in in 9 to 12 months time when a factory order car actually turns up?
  19. A PFL 230 will have them, as it was a special edition similar to the original FL 245
  20. If you heard a horrifying GGNNNRRRR noise and the car came to an abrupt stop, you activated 'manoeuvre braking' , where at low speeds the car will brake itself to stop you bumping into things. The reason the brake pedal 'went down further' is because it braked just before you did, so you'll have felt virtually no pedal resistance. It's a horrible noise, that I assume is the ABS pump, not gears being mashed. All normal and nothing to worry about. Edit - in the manual it's called "Automatic Emergency Braking" "If the system detects a collision risk when travelling forwards or reversing at a speed up to 8 km/h, there is an automatic emergency braking to reduce the impact consequences. Disable / Enable The brake function can be enabled / disabled in the Infotainment in the menu Parking and manoeuvring » page 215. "
  21. Yes, that's what it's showing you when it displays no number, it's disengaged gears and is coasting.
  22. Just press the lock button once on the remote.
  23. I think it coincided with the change from NEDC to WLTP emissions testing, which became mandatory in September 2018. As a result I suspect (but don't know) that cars built to MY19 spec (July 2018 build dates onwards IIRC), probably adjusted the behaviour.
  24. Great comparison shots, not of direct use for me but good to see a controlled comparison with equivalent camera exposures.
  25. If you have Columbus Sat Nav, you can use any SD Card (that's large enough) to update the navigation maps, use the Skoda Update Portal and it'll guide you through the process. https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ Enter your VIN for appropriate maps etc. There's a link halfway down the page to a PDF of step by step instructions.
