  1. That used to bug me but then I found if you turn the central blower dial anticlockwise it eventually turns the AC off.
  2. The width or position of the drivers seat or pedals relative to each other. I've had my car over 7 months and still not got a totally comfortable driving position. Perhaps not helped by choosing manual transmission.
  3. I used to sometimes get this on my old Vectra and every time it was because the boot catch seemed half unlocked so I pushed down on the boot to re-engage it and then tried again and it always worked. This probably won't work for you as it's a totally different brand of car but thought I'd mention it just incase it helped.
  4. I assume you recommend having that done by an air con specialist and not Skoda dealership or Halfords etc..?
  5. It's two and a half years old, that I have had since January.
  6. Thanks fergard..... Good to have a second opinion reassure it's nothing unusual (such as water lingering in the system below windscreen which I was thinking a possibility).
  7. Hi.... Not a big problem but this morning when I got in the car, the windscreen was partially steamed up but only in a very localised area directly over the dashboard/windscreen vent. A few minutes with the blower on sorted it out but it seemed strange that it was there in the first place considering it's summer and not rained in the last 24 hours. Incidentally I noticed yesterday a small damp patch under the car and a bit of dripping from underneath which I assumed was probably from the air con system and not abnormal. Has anyone else had this peculiar localised steaming up ? Cheers
  8. I had a very very similar situation when I got my "Approved Used" Superb from Bristol Street Motors in Chesterfield in January. There were several stone chips and small imperfections including one dent through to metal which they casually said would be sorted as a matter of course when it was prepped. When I went to pick the car up, some of the minor scuffs had been sorted but the stone chips still remained and the deeper dent had just had touch up paint put straight onto bare metal which then promptly fell out when touched. The only reason I accepted the car was because I had got it at an extremely good price and knew I could get the bodywork sorted myself, because any equivalent car on Autotrader was listed £2.5k more than I paid. So, if I were you I would either decline the car or do a comparative search online to see if you are getting it cheaper just because of the existing damage. But ultimately, if it's going to bug you then maybe just walk away.
  9. It's a 2018 (registered March) which I bought as an approved used car in January this year. I think I have a minor fault (charcoal canister/evap system) but don't know how easy it will be to diagnose as there's no warning light and no problem with how the car's running, so I'm half tempted to leave it for the moment and maybe get them to have a quick look at service time in a few months instead.
  10. I'd say that if they can't show you in writing anywhere that the belt is good for the life of the engine then you should be reporting them to trading standards, because if they're trying this on with you, they will also be doing it to others who aren't as sharp. Or maybe the will claim it's good for the life of the engine because one second after the belt snaps, the engine is trashed.
  11. Hi..... I have just booked my car in for the local dealer (DM Keith Leeds) to investigate a potential problem with the Evap System (possible leak) but it's been about 30 years since I've taken a car to a main dealer for servicing or repairs so not sure how these things work now. I think I've read somewhere on here that dealers charge a fee for "trying" to identify a problem, which subsequently gets waived if it turns out to be covered by warranty. Can anyone tell me if it's definitely true that they will charge a fee even if they can't find the fault ? (They didn't mention anything about it on the phone when I booked it in) Also, they said they may need the car for three or four days, which I find astonishing. Whenever I have taken my car to a local garage over the years, they have always identified the problem the same day (and usually fixed it the same day or day after). Thanks
  12. Hi.... I have just bought an Approved Used 2018 Superb 1.4 TSI Petrol/Manual and the dealer is trying to get me to sign up to a fixed price service plan for two services (1 x major, 1 x minor) for £405 (or £22.50 per month for 18 months) but I'm not totally sure whether I will have the servicing done at a main dealer or not. The car has currently done just over 14,000 miles and has just had an "Inspection with oil change" service done by the selling main dealer (it was set to "flexible servicing") so if that was a "minor" service I expect the next one will be classed as "major" even though probably not much to it. I have now had the service interval set to fixed as I only do about 10,000 miles per year (mostly local driving). Back in the day you would have a booklet stating that timing belt etc. needed to be changed at a certain mileage and the same for various other items but the modern online set-up seems to be a bit non-committal about what actually needs to be done and when, presumably because it depends on the type of driving/mileage etc. But I wondered if anyone had successfully used the erWin online system to obtain a copy of the actual maintenance requirements (a bit like the old way)....? Thanks
