Creaking noise
I had what seems to be this exact problem. Mine was eventually solved when it went for an MOT and they said they said the ball joint was worn. Replaced that and the problem was gone. About a year later it started again so I booked it in for the other ball joint replacing but due to an admin error on the paperwork the garage weren't sure which they had initially replaced. They replaced both to be sure and again the problem was gone. Mine was a very loud creaking at low speed and happened whether I was turning the steering wheel slightly or even when I was setting off in a traffic jam. Sometimes it would even do it if I was parked on the drive and just turned the steering wheel very slightly from one side to the other.

Speakers for old Samsung tv?
That's what I was first thinking AG Falco. Not sure if there is a headphone socket. I don't remember seeing one but I'd be surprised if it didn't. If it doesn't have a headphone output then it seems a sound bar with a digital optical connection is probably the way to go although he has stated that it's not bothering him that much at the moment, so I'll just wait and see if it gets worse. Thanks for all the replies.

Speakers for old Samsung tv?
He doesn't wear a hearing aid. A sound bar might be ok but perhaps overkill. I'm just wary of buying something and it not work as most equipment these days seem to mention bluetooth or hdmi.

It's approx. 5mm square(ish) connection with a red light shining out of it if I remember correctly. Thanks

Speakers for old Samsung tv?
Hi... The built in speakers on my Dad's Samsung tv that's about 15 years old have been playing up for a while so I'm thinking of buying some cheap external speakers to plug in but I'm struggling to find some to connect via "Digital Audio Out (Optical)" that the tv seems to need. Tech generally isn't my forte so I'm a bit lost. He's a bit deaf so doesn't need anything fancy and also he's old so won't want to upgrade the tv unless absolutely necessary. Any advice about finding some speakers and connecting via that format..? Thanks

Tyre ratings - Real world feel of 98W compared to 94V
Hi.... I will be needing new tyres soon (possibly all four). My current tyres are 215/55 R17 94V Michelin Cross Climate 2. My usual tyre fitting company don't always seem to have availability of the 94V version but do have the heavier duty 98W version. I know what the numbers and letters actually mean and that theoretically the tyres may feel firmer due to the stronger side walls, but.... How different is it likely to be in real world driving and are there any other differences I may notice ? For reference my car is 2018 Superb Petrol 1.4 TSi Manual with 50,000 on the clock. Thanks

Timing chain noise? Superb mk3 1.8TSI
I'm no expert but that sounds a bit like the problem I had last weekend with my 1.4 TSi which turned out to be loose bolts at the cam belt on one of the pulleys. Mine was the camshaft pulley bolts but I guess there are a few possible contenders in that same region. I'm sure mine doesn't sound like that when it starts up... unless this sounds worse on video than real life.

Front end creaking.
I think the consensus for creaking when going over speed bumps seems to be anti roll bar bushes but with the occasional other culprit now and again too. Do you get a severe creak when coming to a stop in slow moving traffic or when moving off..?

Loose bolts on camshaft pulley - Just a heads up
OK. The mechanic did say at first that new bolts might be needed if they were stretch bolts, but when I went back to pick the car up he was confident that they weren't going anywhere now that he'd used thread lock or whatever it's called. I'm now wondering how easy it would be to remove them to replace, or do I just leave it for now until the mot and service are due in March and see if I can get them replaced then.

Loose bolts on camshaft pulley - Just a heads up
I haven't had the timing belt done, and I've owned the car from 12,000 miles.

Loose bolts on camshaft pulley - Just a heads up
The car is five years old. I've had it for three years and it had 12,000 miles on it when I got it, so although I'm not 100 percent sure the belt hasn't been replaced previously, it hasn't been done by me since it was 2 years old and had 12,000 on the clock.

Loose bolts on camshaft pulley - Just a heads up
It's a belt. The garage removed all the bolts, cleaned out the threads, applied something (thread lock ?) and then re-fitted the bolts.

Loose bolts on camshaft pulley - Just a heads up
Hi.... Just a bit of as heads up.... I got in my Superb 1.4 TSi 2018 (50,000 miles) on Friday night and the engine started making an almighty rattling / clattering / knocking noise. When I took it to a local indy garage the next day they said it sounds exactly like another Skoda they had in the previous week. The one they looked at before wasn't a Superb (can't remember which model they said), but it had done similar relatively low mileage and a bolt was loose at the camshaft pulley. When they investigated mine further they found all the bolts were loose and one of them was just about ready to fall out. The mechanic's exact words were.... "You have been very very lucky". It sounds like if the bolt had fallen out it could have dropped down and trashed the timing belt (or other associated timing gear I expect). Not sure if this is a common problem but I've seen a few discussions about when to get the timing belt changed and I can't help feeling that getting it changed at 4 years or 50,000 miles, even if overkill, could possibly mean this being spotted.

Replacement anti roll bar poly bushes
Thanks UndertheRadar..... I'll bear H&R in mind if I do need to get the ARB replaced. The loudest and most annoying creaking I've had has been ball joints. I had one replaced last year and the noise disappeared instantly, but just started to come back so have just had both replaced and at the moment, the loud creaks have gone again. I still have some minor creaks which probably are the ARB but I can cope with those at the current minor noise level. If the loud noise returns next year, maybe I will look for something uprated like you have.

By burying their heads in the sand is how. They all do that Sir. It's a design feature Sir.

Replacement anti roll bar poly bushes
Hi... I am in the process of trying to resolve creaky suspension issues (again) and my local garage have said that they are having trouble sourcing replacement anti roll bar bushes. They said that if I can source the bushes myself then they can replace them but if not it will mean a full new anti roll bar from Skoda and they will fit that (£415 total cost including fitting). Given the well known issues with the creaking standard bushes, has anyone sourced replacement poly bushes and had them successfully fitted ? I don't actually think this is the source of my main creaking but will probably get them done as well. Anyone had replacement bushes fitted ? Thanks

TIMING BELT CHANGE - 5 YEARS
Wow, I know it's called a timing belt but that really is what you call timing.

Superb SEL driver seat for tall drivers
Not sure if you've got manual or electric seats but are you sure you have the seat all the way down ? If I move my seat fully back and fully down I can barely see over the dashboard (I'm only 5ft 9 but I really am low when it's all the way down). Assuming you've got electric seat.... Sometimes it seems that the seat doesn't move to it's full range if other seat adjustments are in a position it doesn't like. Try moving the seat all the way back before trying to move it down, and then after you've moved it down and it's come to a stop, try pressing the down button again and you may find it moves more.

Halfords - Tyres on the Drive - New Battery - Help !
I'll second that. Many many years ago I took my car to them with an intermittent problem. It didn't have an intermittent problem when I picked it up, it had a constant one instead, meaning it wouldn't even start, so I was stranded in their car park too close to closing time for them to be bothered to try to fix it. The manageress came out and warned me that if I didn't move my car in the next 30 minutes it would be locked in overnight. Luckily the AA arrived before the car park was locked and managed to fix the problem caused by Halfords. The AA technician said.... "Don't trust Halfords with fixing your car". I then pointed to the "AA Approved" sign on the wall and he said "Don't take any notice of that.... Bikes are about their limit".

Are creaking anti roll bar bushes replaceable? Big job?
I'm surprised to hear the bushes themselves can't be replaced. I know pretty much nothing about cars so I'm not saying you're wrong but I thought I had seen several threads on here about either replacing the ARB bushes or else lubricating them with lithium grease. But maybe I misunderstood how the lithium grease was applied. A year or so ago my front suspension was making a hell of a noise after any longish drive. It sounded like a rusty bed that was about to fall apart even if I just moved the steering slightly at low speed. It turned out that was a worn ball joint but a main dealer and local garage had both failed to spot it. Luckily the third garage picked it up during the MOT. I still have a bit of light creaking when going over speed bumps etc but hoping to get the ARB bushes lubricated with lithium grease at the next service.

Tall drivers in the Superb
Have you tried moving the seat significantly further forward or back and then seeing if it will lower more after that ? It has sometimes seemed to me that the overall seat base position makes a difference to what height adjustment it will allow. If it does then lower further then you can re-adjust the forward/back distance after.

Sportline vs SEL
You might want to think about whether you have a preference between the different seats.

Problems already
I get the whoosh after opening the petrol cap.
