  1. You will nedd an appropriate code reader to relax the rear brakes, if not familiar probably better to let your local independent do it for you.
  2. Regarding your start/stop button, I find that the clutch pedal needs to be pressed hard to the floor before my start/stop functions.
  3. I have the same SatNav Adumson I beieve: Select Sat Nav Then Settings Then Manage Memory There you can delete various things

Some kind soul put this on here several years ago: https://carinfo.kiev.ua/cars/vin/skoda#new Enter your VIN and the build spec appears.
  5. Ok perhaps not the best description so how would an expert on brakes and corrosion describe the construction of a ventilated disk? And how do you explain the OPs vibrating brake pedal when the brakes are applied? I have experenced several ventilated disks separating albeit on much higher performance cars than the Karoq it is a well known failure that causes bumping of the brake pedal due to the consequently warped disk.
  6. I did not say that they were two disks, If you know anything about brake disks you would know that separation of ventilated disks is a very common phenomenon.OK wise guy how do you explain the bumping on the brake pedal?
  7. The front disks are ventilated i.e two disks seperated by internal ribs, if the ribs corrode the disks can sometimes separate causing bumping in the brake pedal this could be what the OP is complaing of.
  8. J R and others who have posted have you read the initial post that stated that the brakes juddered when applied, this would not occur just with surface corrosion unless exceptionally bad more likely separation of the disks. Rory I do appreciate that Small claims court proceedings are unlike a county court case but as you state a technical report may be requested for the claim, that would cost more to obtain from a consultant engineer than the cost of replacing the brakes at an independent and does not guarantee a good outcome.
  9. I would take it to my local independent to get the brakes replaced it will be far cheaper. Dont forget that going the legal route you will be up against a major concern who will have unlimited legal resources and it will involve you in a lot of hassle with an uncertain outcome. Having been involved in a different legal dispute ( boundary issues) it involved a lot of work and heartache and at the end of the day the only real winners were the solicitors. As a local farmer once said to me " Solicitors benefit from other peoples misery!
  10. Our 1.5 SEL Manual is nearly 6 years old and 31000 miles and it is still on its original brakes. The car is often laid up for several weeks and we live on the Pennines ( 9 months of winter and 3 of bad weather) so every chance for derious rust to set in. A bit of surface rust is apparent that soon dissapears when driving. Perhaps later models have inferior disc material?
  11. A common failing with modern cars. There are so many diffent types of plastic fixings that its probably quicker to ask at your local Skoda VW dealer they will know the exact type.
  12. I had the same experience also trying to use an aluminium tin, a tinned steel tin such as the tobacco ones shown above should provide an efficient Faraday shield but they are bit on the large size.
  13. The problem is a complete and dangerous nonsense and as said above it is quite possible that someone is going to be killed because of it. I have experienced it on a few occasions while entering a dual carriageway and have had the software updates installed but it still occurs though infrequently. Surely the engine should be capable of not stalling irrespective of drivers driving methods, I have never experienced anything like this in over 50 years of driving all types of vehicles. Manufacturers have a responsibility to ensure a vehicle is safe to drive and allow for non perfect driving skills as they do for suspension/steering configuration.
  14. In electronic parlance perhaps the clockspring would just be called a ribbon cable!
  15. Many thanks for your most comprehensive explanation, another thing to fail! I prefer the old and uncomfortable with static controls on the dash ,no bells and whistles but cheap and straightforward to maintain.
  16. To the uninitiated what is the function of a clock spring in the steering column.? Thanks.
  17. Routemaster you misunderstood my last post. Nobody with any sense would switch on the heater in any car until the coolant is up to temperature but then you do expect heat to transfer immediately to the cabin unless of course you happen to have a 1.5 SEL Karoq. www,bertram-hill.com
  18. The problem is the inertia in the heating system whereas with most cars the heat is almost instant in the Karoq by the time it has reached its intended temperature the journey is over! If it ever gets there. Even my old series Land riover has a heater that I prefer.
  19. The heating in our 2018 SEl Karok is poor by far the worst performing system we have experienced in any car. I can live with it but the better half always complains that it is not hot enough and her legs are cold. Compared to her quite old Hyundai i10 the Karok acheives no where near the same heat output. There have been complaints about the poor heater on other posts on here some time ago.

All rear tyres about 8mm tread depth so doI not think it is caused by wear. My car droned from new!

My manual 1.5 SEL Karaoq also drones on some road surfaces I Assumed it was the tyres as the frequency varies with road surface. It occurs both with Bridgestone Turanza's ( Summer tyres) and Kumho (winter tyres).
  22. I doubt it as normally many buyers wait for the new registration and being just after Xmas jan/ feb tend to be poor sales months for dealers and they offer incentives to try and meet their sales quotas. I have always found that Jan-feb are the best times to buy , you can generally push dealears to give a few extras on top of their best offer.

While on a 50 mile trip today the sat nav started OK but then went haywire after about 6 miles. It is seeing the data base but appears not to be recieving the GPS signal. Perhaps the GPS receiver is faulty or the aerial. Is the plastic aerial on the roof the GPS aerial I believe sometimes they are embedded.in a door window like a heated screen. Has anyone experienced anything similar. I have the Skoda extended guarantee but not sure if this includes Satnav.

Rooted table of service charges only apply if the dealer agrees to belong to the Skoda scheme. It is not mandatory. The Skoda main dealer in Carlisle opts out and charges more for servicing as they claim it would not be profitable to levy Skoda's charges,
  25. Have a look at dealers prices on Autotrader for the same year/mileage cars that will tell you if the cars you are looking at are reasonably priced. Also you can look at older cars to estimate the depreciation. My experience is that you can at certain times of the year when sales are low negotiate things like mats, paint protection, mud flaps etc. to close a sale as these cost the dealer considerably less than you would pay. Best of luck.
