  1. They charge a fortune to print them, sold less than 20 actual print copies of Single-Handed - Did you buy one?? - and we only get about 10p to keep the price down, on the Ebooks we get about 40p a copy. We get more now from Prime customers who read em free - Amazon pay per NPR (Normalised Pages Read) ie if they download it and look at each page for about 2 minutes you get paid !!
  2. The sequels are pretty good too - Beckford & co in 2 more books. Big Pete gets violent!
  3. Thanks! Any chance of a review - we get very few relative to the sales.
  4. If its dripping out under the vehicle somewhere try some K-Seal. A bit more expensive that Rad Weld but it stops most leaks 1st go.
  5. I'd do this If I had the time. Great stuff!! Might get the chance soon, just got too much on at the mo. Am I being a bit thick - When you say ordered the Skoda parts from Europe where do you order them?
  6. Always do the oil and filter, otherwise its not a service. Do it yourself if you want to save money, its easy.
  7. I've got a boxful of memory modules too, anyone needs anything for old machines its available for postage. Anyone interested I'll spread it out and post a pic.
  8. I once had a car that did this and the boot light was staying on, I had to drop the seats to find out.
  9. Electrical gromets for use on a metal back box, excellent idea. Love the thread, keep at it.
  10. Single-Handed by Chris Robb. Ebook on Amazon Kindle. 99p Excellent. Single-Handed eBook : Robb, Chris: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store Have a look and let me know what you think - I have a hotline to the author.
  11. It's a 6G brain scrambling device being rolled out to re-educate the masses.
  12. They sell a similar generic version at home bargains, it's a bit too small for the Octavia but it still works well enough. Can't find it online sorry.
  13. On any vehicle they reduce spray on fast roads. I'm sure they keep the vehicle a bit cleaner.
  14. Could it be you have an Amundsen unit? f it does need a card, ie not Columbus then try this. Before i risked trying to update my nav (2019 MY Octavia) I decided to buy an SD card from ebay and download to that so that if I messed it up I could put the OE card back in, the ebay card was a genuine Skoda card and worked, including the update, and my own card works too, so I just flip the cards when I update so I can just go back 1 set of maps if the worst happens. So I'd suspect someone who needed a card nicked yours, and if you buy one from ebay it will work as long as its a genuine cars. (My seller was from Czech repuplic - cheap there.)
  15. Ah the good old days of a 128mb card. Now when I were a lad ... I do have issues with the card contents - album art mostly works but not always. And the new MP3 something format doesn't work either. I can't see where on windows media player to change the option to rip and save tracks to simply mp3 or mp4 - they both work.
  16. Yeah its a pain, you need a very small funnel and it'll squeeeze past the restriction, otherwise at some point you'll pour a tad too much and it'll spill over the engine then drip on someone's lovely new block paved drive and cause a bit of bother. I got a set of 3 small orange funnels from somewhere (probably toolstation) and they work a treat - on of em fits. On the sump plug front if its like the Octavia it's plastic and large so dont look for a nut.
  17. Having just had covid and suffered less than many a winter cold, both myself and wife, I am now immune for a massive 3 months. Booked my booster - don't know why as so far no jabs appear to have done much - unless that's why we weren't very ill. First available appointment locally was 6th Jan so that will have to do. I plan to start back at the gym from Tuesday evening due to being tired and lazy since isolation completed Friday!! Whoop Whoop I'm back!! Now if only my 7 day twitter ban was over too. (I suggested a surgical procedure to stop rapist re-offending - wishing harm on others, 7 day ban)
  18. Bolts work by stretching (Hookes law). The pressure on the bolts is reduced when other bolts are holding as tight or tighter, so If I release the locker first the other bolts are sharing the load. Same when re fastening. The other 4 bolts are squeezing the wheel to the rim already so less pressure on the locker - and I don't fasten them quite as tight. When I've had lockers fail it's been the head that fails, in that you can't put sufficient force on them to undo the nut - what caused the failure who knows - but If it helps then it's worth it. You have 5 to tighten and undo so it's the same work anyway.
  19. A lot of Jap cars have no tilt sensor on the alarm, a lot of cars made for the Jap market don't have an alarm - they don't need one. They add one for exports but more as an afterthought. I always losen the locker firts and tighten it last to try and minimise the stress on the bloody things having had several fail over the years.
  20. Used to work with a signwriter -the guy lived in Liverpool, any broken household white goods etc he wanted to get rid of he put outside with a sign saying 'for sale full working order' and a price and somebody nicked them.
  21. Got covid. Daughter got it first by the time she showed symptoms and was tested she'd passed it onto her daughter (age 3) who we mind and myself and wife have it. The good news is the symptoms are approx 50% as bad as manflu. Now I know that can be near fatal, but 50% less is manageable. I'm able to potter about doing a few jobs at home. The 10 day isolation is going to be a pain. The bad news is all the hassle from NHS test and trace - they are stuck in a rut calling us both. IE who else lives in your house? We give each others name so they call the other one. I've tried saying we both have covid, you spoke to wife yesterday and said same thing etc but they don't take any notice. Ahh you live with someone, then its important we speak to them with health advice .... To improve my day Virgin mobile signal is down and should be restored in about 24 hrs - and you won't believe how difficult they make it to actually talk to someone !! Rant not over yet by any means ...
  22. Ah from Dunfirmline? Then as a canny Scott I'm shocked you didnt wait until 1.61mm tread was left 😑
  23. Damn it, everyone hates a smart arse!! 😁 It passed, no advisories. I had a walk down the road to Lightcliffe Skoda while it was in the garage, had a look at the new octavia Vrs and a large 4x4 Kodiac. Both looked absolutely superb. The salesman tried to show me the VRS and said the boot was a bit smaller than mine, but he couldn't show me because the showroom vehicle - a hybrid - was flat, and was locked up. Doors were open - the inside was lovely but I would like to see a heated front screen and front seats too for that kind of cash.
