Reversing camera
I wonder if upgrading the reversing lights with brighter LED's would sort it? Try it in a well lit area at night.

VW Arteon Shooting Brake Arrival Means Goodbye Skoda (kinda!)
I suppose that reflects the higher depreciation of a high spec Skoda compared to a similar VW, The extra lease charge probably represents the vehicle value upon return.

Mudflaps!
I do like a good mudflaps thred, they are very subtle on most of these cars you just wouldn't notice them. Have a look at this thread for some more ideas ... Do I need mud flaps? - Page 3 - Skoda Karoq - BRISKODA

Burning Oil
😁 One thing I have noticed about oil, we're all experts - as in whatever WE do is the right and only way to do it - including me, obviously. I've seen a thread or two where new cars used oil in the first few 000 miles, I checked mine several times but didn't see any drop - but it was on 6k or similar when I got it, so might have already been topped up.

They do a 4x4 beast too I was looking at to replace the VRS but the price made me wince. Lovely cars.

Cloth seat protection.
I've done them many years ago with scoth gard, it was very good. They used to sell it for 3 pce suits and some carpets came SG protected. If its a decent price I'd be tempted by that too. I guess you could do the carpets too, but probably best let your mats soak up spills father than repell them.

Cloth seat protection.
I did mine using supernatural fabric sealant, it was the winner on some product test - Auto Express I think. It was about £12 (I think) so I got 2, you just reminded me I still have a full bottle to give then another coat. I got it from cleanyourcar.co.uk I think, but I can't see it on the site. It's a Dodo juice product, it's only £13 on their own website. Supernatural Fabric Sealant - hydrophobic sealant for interior upholst – SupernaturalCarCare Anyway car was 8 months old when I got it, its now 32 months old and not a mark on the seats - and I ferry grand kids about. Hope that helps.

Wheels & Tyres: Skoda Octavia mk3 5E alloy wheels and winter tyres 205/55R16 91H 6.5J x 16 et46 – PCD: 5x112
Put a location up, might drum up some interest. I have winter wheels, the tyres are great in cold weather and SUPERB on snow.

Difference Between Engine Oil And Transmission Oil Drain Plugs
on my car the oil sump plug is plastic, the actual sump is plastic so I guess it has to be. It is a cross head when you look close, but it can be undone with a large flat screwdriver too as it has one long cross - if you get me. It's just next to the place where the oil temp / pressure sensors are which has 2 nuts and wires going into the sump. I did take pictures of the plug if you want I'll upload one.

Noob question - Cleaning car mats
Its a great idea to have a set of rubber mats for when we go walking or the beach, the mats get dirty every time you go somewhere like that. But I do like a bit of luxury, the 1200g per M2 from Ebay are excellent, really thick pile and wear well. Still look new. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183967062685

12 volt socket
Does the MK4 not have a 12v socket in the front then? Why on earth do they skimp on stuff like that? My MK3 has front and boot, and I wish it had a 12v in the back and a couple of usb sockets. Something I'd like to add.

Anyone got rust in this area?
I always spray vulnerable areas I can reach with something like this ... I use white grease quite a bit too, but the Auto Extreme rust proofer spray claims to kill existing rust. On my wife's fiesta the MOT inspector actually commented that all the areass that go on the car were protected. One of the benefits of doing stuff yourself I guess, when I changed the pollen filter yesterday I sprayed a few areas that were behind the plastic on the gear lever tunel, something no garage ever does for you.

Noob question - Cleaning car mats
Hose them out and hang them on the line, I scrub 'em with a bit of car shampoo too.

Grades of engine oil
I'd disagree, the viscosity I'd always try and use the correct, or close to the correct spec. I wouldn't disregard it, but I do go a bit higher than the 0-20w that they are pushing now for lower emmissions. As to the semi synthetic they never say what percentage is what, it could be 20% or 80% who knows? It might meet the spec but the life and properties won't be as good as a fully synthetic. Still I'd say changing the oil and filter regularly is probably the best thing you can do for your car.

USB Port Retrofit.
Exactly what I think about the Octavia too. Not wanting any car connectivity in the back, just the USB power supply really. A twin outlet in the rear of the armrest below the ashtray would be ideal. I suppose I could plug something into the boot 12v and run a wire through, but it's always going to look a bit of a lash up compared to a mounted socket.

Cleaning 19” Vega Alloys - What Do You Use?
A brush like that, an old paint brush and AA alloy wheel cleaner from Home Bargains - its about £2 and does the job.

Tyre noise
Tyre noise was really pronounced when I got my VRS, like someone above I got rid of the oem rubber when it still had quite a bit of tread. Dunlop sport max much quieter and better grip in the wet.

Sat Nav Updates
If its any help I ordered a new (2 year old) card from ebay, I tested that, it worked. I downloaded the update and unpacked it to the Ebay card so I still had mine to fall back to if the update failed or anything. It did work fine. My point is that the Ebay cheap cards from Czech seller was a genuine card and did work, £20 I think, not too bad - I just didn't want to risk my Nav by formatting my only card. When I do the next update I'll use my own card so the map info is never more than a year old even if I mess it up. I'll leapfrog card use.

"key not found!"
What did you do??

SGS gas struts
Looking at the state of them I'd be tempted to do something to the new ones to prevent rust. Paint them black, or failing that a coat of my fave spray grease - either white lithium grease, or Auto Extreme rust proofer stuff. Whether they were likely to fail or not who wants rusty parts fitted?? Well done for getting it sorted.

Oil change
I dont know the answer to this one - I'm just asking ... I still warm the engine before an oil change, but with such thin oils that are like water when cold and hardly any thicker when warm do we need to do this? I'm due an oil and filter change, just waiting 4 more weeks so no Grandaughter here and I'll get on it. Mannoil 507 and filter already purchased. D-I-Y all the way for me. I make sure I do a good job. (Now I know the sump plug is plastic )

VRS 245 not exciting. Keep or change
Superchips +55 bhp make it a bit more fun, and help the local economy with tyre and petrol spending.

Has anybody taken off the 2 chrome exhaust tips and sprayed them black?
Interesting, my chrome tips have a smidge of rust on the welds so this is something i'd consider. I think ill stick some rustoleum stuff on the screws to stop corrosion till I get round to it.
