  1. I have a big Brother office style laser printer. Older version of this - https://www.brother.co.uk/printers/laser-printers/dcp-l3550cdw If you've got the space get an office grade printer. I've been happy with that. saying that I'm using a small Canon inkjet right now since I've no room for the laser. I've probaby spent more on ink for that in 6 months than I've spent on the Brother in 3 years.
  2. Yeah it's buy cheap buy twice. With the cheap stuff you just don't know what you will get, and sometimes you will get lucky and it's a complete steal, but often it's a bit of a disappointment. I do it with headphones, keep buying 'good' cheap ones only to regret not paying more. I'm not sure you'll need a better camera, there have been movies filmed on iphones (and not the current ones) so that you can probably do without. You might need to invest in memory or software. BTW Shotcut is a pretty decent free video editing package. Takes a bit of learning to use though. https://shotcut.org/
  3. what are you using the dongle on, a PC? Dongles using USB seem to be more sensitive to driver changes etc, I'm not a developer so I don't know why this is. For a PC an internal PCI card can often be more reliable. I assume the connection is simpler with less layers so things seem to work a bit better. Failing all that get a powerline network adapter and use copper cables. The cheap ones will do. https://www.amazon.co.uk/TL-PA4010PKIT-Passthrough-Powerline-Configuration-Required/dp/B01G5Q9E0O/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=Powerline+Adapter&qid=1592898982&sr=8-4 Those are 300Mbt (they say 600 but you have to half it because they add up both directions but you can't get more than 300 in any one direction) which is fine for internet since most peopleonly have 10-50Mb internet.
  4. My mate is a journalist with the BBC he showsed us all the microphone he had to use when broadcasting, it cost £15k. I'm sorry to say if you want to do this a bit more seriosuly you might need to spend a bit more money. You'll probably at least need something with a wind muff type cover. Quick google and this is the sort of thing being recommended - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rode-Smartlav-Lavalier-Microphone-Smartphone/dp/B00EO4A7L0 It's not cheap but it's a lot less than £15k.
  5. I had a neighbour with a 90, he fitted a TVR V8 into it. That sounded quite good.
  6. Unfortunately even if the judge agrees that you've been 'orribly traumatised by your experience and awards you a nice wedge the class action lawyers are going to take most of it. Class actions seem to result in very small payouts to the actual victims. Like <£100. Do if you in this my advice would be to exepect nothing and be very happy if a cheque comes your way for any amount.
  7. The car is fine for road use, it's the drivers that are the problem. When I did my bike license the sage advice was "it's only as fast as your right hand". Same for any car, it's only as fast as your right foot. I'm confident I can drive ANY car, or ride ANY bike. I'm also confident I can't drive or ride ALL of them fast. When you've more confidence than skill it's always going to end in tears.
  8. I think I can give you some info given I work wth people who deal with these claims in Scotland. You will only ever get compo in the following circumstances - 1 - The agency failed to check the road for defects to their required schedule. The pothole developed after their last check. - with a public authority you can request details of the schedule of checks, if these were carried out and what defects were identified. 2 - A pothole was reported/identified and the agency failed to check or repair this in line with their policy. - again with a public authority you can request via FOI what defects have been reported and when (but not by whom) You will not get compo If they checked the road to schedule and did not identify the pothole If the pothole is not a pothole because they changed the definition of a pothole. Irresepctive if you could lose a battleship in that hole or not. If the hole was reported but you hit it before they fixed it (and within their fixing policy) If they stuck a cone over the hole in instead of fixing it (rubbish I agree but it is a get out).
  9. Was out for the first time in ages yesterday. I'm so unfit 😪 But I got a new Focus Whistler last summer to go out with the boy (now kids). Not sure which model it is, it seems to be between some of the range. Also have a Specialized Allez but there is no way I'm ready to get back on a road bike yet.
  10. Yeah, I thought some of the planning rules that had caused this were withdrawn? 4/5 bed houses being built with a single garage too small for a fiesta and no real drive. Then they wonder why a house with 4/5 individuals of driving age are parked on the streets. They're all supposed to use public transport on bus routes that have been cut to the bone or where it would take you 5hr to commute to the next town.
  11. That's nasty George. Is that a for sale sign in the window as well? We had a great day at the Harley festival in Brechin a few years back. I don't even like Harleys
  12. V10 Toureg has a towing apacity of (approx) 3.5T F250 Powerstroke derv = 8T I guess if the Toureg can tow a 747 the F250 can tow the airport behind it. I don't think you can even import an F250 into the UK, I think they're too big
  13. Lol yeah the American trucks are absolutely massive. I saw a new UK Raptor in a car park not that long ago, it looked huge, but it's tiny up next to an F150 or 250. I really like the new UK Raptor btw, but no way I'm paying out £50k on a Ford pickup with a wee derv motor and not the 400hp V8 on the real deal.
  14. Lol taking the tractor to Tesco. I had a mate who used to drive to school at 16 in a massive John Deere.
  15. I did the configurator for a new Defender. Mine came in at over £60k. TBH if I thought the depreciation wouldn't be too bad I'd be tempted, it's grown on my quite a lot. Oh and the £2k road tax is pretty offputting too.
  16. Oil on the road he's claimed in some stories https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/18521646.paddy-mcguinness-speaks-yorkshire-lamborghini-crash/ Read that snf just thought about how many times boys racers and mates have all encountered "diesel on the road" just prior to a crash. Nothing to do with going too fast for the conditions or the road, nooooosirreeeee. I feel sorry for the owner. Lucky it wasn't the F40, the Diablo is worth a lot but the F40 is a looooot more (so is the XJ220).
  17. They are all very American right now these big 4x4s.
  18. I use full fat outlook. It was an utter PITA to get working. MS are fecking shocking right now with their development work. Stick to Thunderbird.
  19. I've not watched. Are those numbers paper numbers? It's just that RW petrol MPG is often worse than diesel. And it could be that some will like the driving characteristics more. Both my BM and my SO's Mini JCW have a little over 300hp each on paper, the BMW has 200Nm and 100Kg more. I like how the diesel drives much more than the JCW. It's a very different power delivery.
  20. Maybe they've just given up that market to pickups.
  21. I think I'd have had a Mustang by now if the rear seats were more accessible. I think it's a good value bit of fun if you don't do too many miles. 335d is going in for brakes and servicing over the nest few weeks so I'll hang onto it for longer. Head ruling heart for the moment but I'm watching the prices keenly of 4 door M cars and some more usable minor exotica that is around. Stupidity beckons before all these nice motors go to the scrapyard in the sky.
  22. I dunno the defender is so far off the modern norm that I think it looks good. The Toyota does look pretty bland. They used to be interesting for their hugeness, but I think every other car has grown so much now that the LC just looks biggish now.
  23. Not growing on me. Still looks like it has suffered blunt force trauma to the face.
  24. In fairness that SWB Land Cruiser is no looker either.
  25. I'm changing broadband. Have been with Plusnet for about 5yr, they made a monumental **** of moving my service when I moved house which left me without broadband or telephone for 6 weeks totally caused by miscommunication between PN and Openreach. However PN refused to even acknowledge I'd made a complaint or offer the promised refund for weeks of no service. Sooo I had to wait 24 months to kick them in the nads. Anyway... I've started the switch to SSE. which will save me about £18 a month and double my speeds over PN. But I'm wondering who long does the actual switch take? If I search the question I get 15-20days which I assume is from me hitting the 'go' button and that's not what I'm after. What I'm wondering is how long between one service going down and the other starting? GF needs wifi for her work. And if things are going to go down for days and days I'll need to have a backup plan to keep her working.
