  1. I replaced the battery a while back and neglected to notice that the light is missing its bulb. I'll try the jewellers and the motor factors tomorrow. 31 looks to be it, thanks.
  2. Kit came with 2 metal clips put in the right spot. By putting them down and back up until they click? I think so but I might try it again.
  3. After seeing the other fabia key thread I'm left wondering which key I have. It would seem as though my car should either have a flip key like every other VAG car or a 2 button non flip key. My key has one button and i'm pretty sure that the button is meant to be for a light, not that it ever worked. I spent some time on Google looking at keys and I couldn't seem to find the exact key I have, so I figure I may ask here and hope to get a definative answer.
  4. Hi all, Got some Wind deflectors for my fabia and they all fit fine. Only trouble is that the drivers one catches the window and causes it to go back down, and the passenger one will do the same at speed. Can anyone help? Thanks.
  5. I live on the border and if I was smart I would've just gotten a Northern license like everyone else. Customs only bothers you if someone snitches on you. Plenty of people around me have Northern cars and get away with it. Apparently Nox is gone up again so thats quashed any hopes of me getting a mk1 vRS, it would actually be cheaper for me to take my old sdi and make it into a vRS wannabe. As opposed to going through all of the hoops and jumps of getting my Monte Carlo fully legal another time. Vrt is a one off payment on first registration on a car in the south of Ireland. It in and of itself is a certain percentage of the cars value in the south. So for my Monte Carlo it was 17% of its value at that time on the market in Ireland, not what I payed for it. The NOx charge we speak of is a new tax applied to all imports at the start of this year. It is impacted by the NOx emissions produced by the car and is mainly aimed at diesels, so the Irish government can say they are doing something for the environment. The nox emissions is calculated in certain brackets and it worked out to be 1700 euro ON ITS OWN! The vrt itself was "cheap" because its a low CO2 emissions, however the NOx was a joke because my car is "high emissions" and bad for the environment. Having said that My yearly tax is only €170 because my car is a euro 5 diesel with a Dpf and "low emissions". My explanation sounds farcical and it is, because the Irish government has been very good at taxing people to death under the excuse of "saving the environment". As a final "kick" I had to pay for my own plates (I was going to get personalized ones anyway so it didnt matter) and had to get my Mot transferred (I can't remember If I had to pay to take it through) and the NOx payment alone would have paid for my insurance (Very expensive since I'm under 25). Lastly, I STILL managed to save money on it because even a 100k+ mile curb rashed 75hp diesel Monte Carlo cost more than the immaculate 105Hp one I have now. In closing, Irelands customs is misery personified and that means we have to either "ride dirty" on uk plates or dish out a small fortune for the few clean examples of cars here. /End Rant.
  6. Mines different then, shame.
  7. What sort of key is it? Is it the one with a single button? Thats the one my car came with and I don't know what the button is used for.
  8. I thought I was bad at 1700 in NOx and 700 odd in vrt!
  9. With a car as modded as yours I say Go big or go home!
  10. Imagine having one of the mk1 Fabia wrc wings.
  11. Just wondering, since you swapped to a 2 litre did you manage to retain stuff like air con or is that all removed for the sake of weight reduction?
  12. It actually failed but only on the headlights. Everything else it passed with flying colours, even the stiff seatbelts. Apparently when the headlights were adjusted they were set when they were in the lowest setting on the dial so when they were raised for the test they were way too high! I checked them but I thought since they were level they were fine, I never adjusted them because they were level when I got the car. No wonder I keep getting flashed! I have it booked for a retest in a week but I'll have it fixed by then.
  13. I had it booked for its NCT today, the only date I could get was November 4th as every other NCT centre was booked until February. Not good as my NCT was only extended to December. The car was serviced a few weeks ago, The oil was changed and the exhaust was put on. Apparently the exhaust was completely wrong! The tailpipe was too long so it had to be cut and re welded back on. Also it sits a little too low so you can just see the tip from the back of the car but I actually like how it sits so it'll stay that way.
  14. Did this the other day, Noticed the piece where the numbers are was looking very dull to I decided to take a gamble, pop off the cap and polish it with a compound. That took away some of the dullness and I then polished it to give it a deep shine. After that I used an old primer grey touch up pen and filled in the numbers, waited and hour for the paint to harden up a bit and then got some petrol on a rag and wiped off the excess. Finally I polished the chrome ring on the knob and put back on the cap. The pictures dont quite show the difference but in person its night and day, and it cost me nothing since I had everything there.
  15. Got them yesterday, Only cost 1 euro for the two of them, Thanks again Will!
  16. I never knew this website existed before, thanks.
  17. Hi all, Just after noticing my drivers side parking light is gone, not the main projector beam happily just the small bulb that comes on when you only have the light switch on the first position. I am just wondering what size it is so I can run to the shop tomorrow and get one. Should I replace both so I can be sure that they are both the same colour? i.e one being cold and one being a warmer colour. I realise its probably in the manual somewhere but I just wanted to ask here because someone might have some reccomendations for which bulbs to get.
  18. If you stripped out your car before making the trek then I would imagine it would also help mpg aswell as the high cetane diesel.
  19. French and Moreso Spanish diesel might be a better blend because they usually have a much nicer climate. Here in Ireland and the UK as we all know the winter is much colder than in Spain for example. So petrol companies need to put additives in diesel when it gets cold to stop it gelling. I have heard of people dumping Vodka or Kerosene in their tanks for a similar result. Just to add, Winter diesel will often give out worse mpg because of the additives that have been put in, this is why I bothered to make my point as it stands to reason that the opposite would be true. A "Spanish" Diesel ( Or Rather the Race diesel being used here)that doesnt need any special additives might give a better burn and thus give more mpgs than our (at present) "Winter Diesel".
  20. Amazing to see how far it's come in 4 years. I noticed your Drls stay on even when the fog lights come on, is that something you have to do on Vag-Com or could it be done by messing with fuses?
  21. I turns out my drivers one is M.I.A but I still have the passengers side on. It turns out that its black to match. Works out for me cause I noticed that the plastic cover on the passengers seat has one of the clips broken and wont seat right. The best upgrades are free upgrades!
  22. Would a mk1 underseat stowage drawer fit a mk2? My mk1 came with them and I still have the original seats,Granted they are grey and not black but I could always paint them black.
  23. I like the wheels,are they 16" or 17"?
