  1. I'm leaving mine on as I now realise they are not the headlight bulbs. My friends 2010 Polo has it's headlights as DRL's and as a result they had to change the bulbs 3 times due to them blowing! Just notice how many Polo's there are with a headlight out!
  2. I think its because the brighter the light, the easier it is to see in daylight but in the dark they would then be to bright, which is why side lights are not as bright. So another question could be why have sidelights at all? as in the dark we all drive on dipped headlights not just side lights!
  3. as seems to be the majority opinion go for the MX5. My sister has had 2. A 2002 and currently a 2010 model. Neither have given any problems and I actually prefered the older 2002 model which gave a more characterful classic sports car experience in terms of interior with white dials etc. the later models while driving superbly and looking great, suffer from too much 'modernisation' to the interior, dashboard etc thus losing the character.
  4. 8. Owner:..Charles Location:..Halifax, West Yorkshire Colour ... White .. Extras/Mods...Black door and tailgate stripes as illustrated in the brochure! Seats:Dynamic Red
  5. Cheers bealine, will do. I'm very impressed with the Rapid Sport, better in all areas than I expected! Fantastic seats and plushness of cabin. Just had it striped up as model in the brochure! will post a pic as soon as... Cheers.
  6. Cheers, yes will leave on, as on further inspection I now realise the DRL's are separate bulbs and not the actual headlights as I first thought!
  7. I'm thinking how good a black roof would look on the White Rapid Sport and wondered what would be best, to either have it painted or a wrap!? Wraps worry me though as what if they get a stone chip etc Black paint can be re-touched. Anyone done the same?
  8. Took delivery today of a Rapid Sport today and I'm really pleased with it. Feels leagues above the Monte Carlo in terms of refinement, general finish and solid build. It's made me realise also how noisy the Monte diesel was on idle as I can't hear the 1.2 TSI at all! But my question is..Has anyone turned off the daytime lights? it says to take out the fuse, Does the fuse cover underneath the dash just pull off as I cant shift it! i The handbook also states to move the indicator stalk to turn them off but this dosn't seem to work and say's this method for cars with Stop Start ? Anyone know what that is? Cheers.
  9. I was thinking the same..Sport model = lowered Sports suspension etc . as they did on the Monte Carlo! For for a h'apeth a tar (as we say in Yorkshire!) Skoda have missed bits off the Rapid Sport that would have made it even more desirable but included silly things like steel pedals!?
  10. do you have a before and after pic? am thinking of the same on mine when it arrives. Presumably it dosn't affect the vehicle warranty? Cheers.
  11. Thanks for the info. Are you able to check ifthe chrome strip on the lower front mesh is fitted? Skoda customer services have assured me it is and they also said the car would and should have the side decals!!
  12. cheers guys and Billy, yes the car looks good but even better in the brochure!! glad theres no 1.2 badge on the back!! these are the elusive stripes http://eshop.skoda-auto.com/cz/en/b2c/sports-equipment/black-matt-decorative-foils-for-rapid-5ja064317x/0/1/24/43/1001 I still dont get why something so simple couldn't be fitted at the factory on what is called a sport and as shown in the brochure!
  13. Do the 'originals' differ in any way other than in just white? Also my dealer didn't think they had the lower black door trim/decal fitted as illustrated in the brochure!? Thanks.
  14. Hi, having ordered a Rapid Sport in white I'm now disappointed to hear from my dealer that it won't have the lower door trim/decal or front lower grill trim as illustrated in the brochure which is 05/14. Can anyone say if it does have these features? otherwise if not I feel there is misrepresentation of the car by Skoda! Cheers.
  15. Yes they do.. Its just that the Fabai Monte Carlo has drums which I think lets it down! so I'm glad the Rapid has the rear discs, gives it more of a performance look.
  16. Does the Sport say 1.2 on the back  at least it does now apparently according to my dealer have rear disc brakes! :sun:
  17. I'm swapping my Monte for a Rapid Sport. I've noticed the brochure pics of the Sport show it with black trim at the bottom edge of the doors! my dealer thinks this might be an add on, anyone know if it is or is it standard?
  18. yes, there are good deals on Rapid Sports at the moment and as a result I'm swapping my 18month old Monte for a new Rapid Sport!
  19. I am soon to become a Rapid owner. I'm swapping the Monte Carlo for the Rapid Sport and hope I've done the right thing!?
  20. thanks for the info...I do suspect they have been hasty in replaceing the discs which they said had a 'lip' on them. The MOT fail cert. did only mention the pads!
  21. Thanks guys..I have now got the MOT failure cert. which does say pads but not discs! The discs were £78 a pair + Vat and Pads £42 +Vat. Labour charges for additional Service/Mot work was £86.66 + Vat!! (£104 per hour which is also the same as my Skoda main dealer!!) I have enquired at a local garage with a good reputation, there labour is £44.50+vat per hour! so will be there next time.
  22. Hi all just want any opinions on the following, I'll try to be as brief as poss.. my gf has just had her 2010 Polo 1.2 petrol to the VW Main Dealers for a 4 year service, 38K miles and MOT. They said it failed the MOT due to front brake pad wear and recommended new discs too. The car had new discs at only 16k !! (she bought it with 8k on the clock from the same dealers and is not heavy on the brakes). Does this sound normal that after another 22K its needs new discs again!? They charged £78 for 2 discs which tbh compared to £19 for a pollen filter and £42 for the pads and £18.50 for ''cleaner''(which I am going to question) seemed Ok but the total bill with VAT was £570!! No parts have been included in the cost of the service which alone was £200, all parts added on top of this. She has not been given the MOT ''fail certificate'' either which should state failure due to discs and pads(?) So I wondered if anyone has had a 40k 4yr service recently on their Fabia and how much was it? Cheers. C.
  23. I've just used black on mine, for a scuff and a couple of chips and they look fine.
