Buying a Superb 280
Not entirely sure to be honest - check in individual settings and see if there is an option for suspension. From what I've heard the standard suspension is fine on the SportLine, even if not DCC. The main thing is you've got the correct engine / powertrain

Buying a Superb 280
If it's L&K it'll come with DCC as standard. I believe it's an option on the SportLine. Either way you can check in the driver modes settings.

Buying a Superb 280
Heated windscreen was the most important option for me - not standard! Make sure you give it a test drive and try out as many buttons as possible. Check the service history too.

The new (resurrected) family wagon - project log
The car just got back from the body shop this morning, looking much better! All of the bodywork has been repaired / repainted by our local ChipsAway who did a great job (cheaper to not involve insurance). Terrible weather today, so no photos but will update once I've got the all season wheels & tyres on - booked in for this Wednesday. I've gone for Michelin CrossClimate+ (which were on offer) which will go on the 17" wheels (the summer tyres will stay on the 18").

The new (resurrected) family wagon - project log
The wife managed to scrape the entire length of the car against a fence post at the weekend. It's all fixable, but it's going to have to go to a bodyshop (probably on insurance) I think to get repaired.

The new (resurrected) family wagon - project log
The car was serviced yesterday and passed its MOT - new oil filter, new oil, air filter, cabin/pollen filter etc. All for about the same cost as my previous old Fiesta. Pleasantly surprised that nothing else needed doing.

Predictive Cruise Control on 16MY
No I don't think so. What's the difference between predictive cruise and adaptive cruise? IIRC predictive cruise wasn't a factory option. You can add traffic sign recognition using VCDS:

VCDS Advice For Newbie
Yes you can add Traffic Sign recognition fairly easily - instructions here: You should be able to disable stop start (see the same linked thread for a guide) - but I haven't done that. I'm not sure whether you can add auto high beam.

Nice! You only live once - looking forward to the photos!

S3 Superb 4x4 270 petrol vs 190 tdi..... Thoughts?
If you're doing lots of miles (>10,000/year) then get the diesel. If not get the petrol. I do less miles so got the petrol and I'm very happy with it.

Upgrade to Lane Assist and Road sign recognition?
The L&K should have lane assist as standard I believe, you just need to activate it in the instrument menu. Traffic sign recognition is not standard but is easily retrofitted with the right tools. I added it to my L&K using VCDS.

Second Hand buying red flags - 272 Petrol
I wouldn't be particularly worried about 2 owners, check the car runs ok with a test drive and inspect the service history. Good luck with your purchase!

Find me a Superb...
There was a lot more choice earlier in the year! At the moment there is a lack of supply and high demand (due to Covid meaning people don't want to buy new), meaning cars are rare and when they do come up the prices are a couple of thousand more than they were at the beginning of the year. I've been keeping an eye on 280's 4x4s (to validate my own purchase back in March) and there's really not many of them - around about 6 for sale at the moment on AutoTrader compared to 18 back in March. I think the same principle applies to the other engine / model choices. If you can be flexible on what you want then you may find it quicker - otherwise just keep an eye on the market - good luck on your search!

Moving to an Superb III
I bought mine at 40k miles and I completed the oil change of the Haldex (plus a clean of the pump filter), plus an oil and filter change of the DSG at 40,000 miles myself. Both could also easily be done at an independent VW specialist and wouldn't cost much. The DSG is generally quite reliable with the 280 or 272, ditto the Haldex if it is well maintained.

Looking for a 280 sportline...
A bit beyond budget, but a good deal nevertheless...

Looking for a 280 sportline...
Yep for that money you'll struggle as only the early 2015/16 cars are below £18k (usually with 40k+ miles). Just keep an eye on AutoTrader and see if you can save up a bit more! The used car market is quick at the moment- lack of supply and plenty of demand as people don't want to commit to an expensive new car.

Retrofit flat bottomed steering wheel mk3
No (just if you wanted to add a heated wheel). Just make sure you buy the right steering wheel - with the heated elements and the DSG paddles.
-
Retrofit flat bottomed steering wheel mk3
Straight swap for DSG paddles. You would only need a new clock spring to add a heated wheel.

4WD
Not all 4x4s have 4x4 on the gear selector! Check the drive shaft and the rear differential - easy to see from the back of the car underneath

My 280 came with a spare steel wheel, I think it's a space saver.

Car seat: can we fit a Joie ispin safe behind driver seat?
If it doesn't fit on the Superb, it won't fit anywhere! (as long at it's ISOFIX)
