  1. Thanks, although seems strange, if there were updated pads, why would they put the mooing ones on, although recently, at this garage, nothing would surprise me these days. Its only cos they did it in first place, i am going back to them.
  2. All I recently had new brake pads and discs fitted at my local dealer, front and rear. Before that, i never had the mooing noise. Now, while my car stops a lot more efficiently, the noise when reversing, can be incredible! Note "can" be. sometimes there is no noise, sometimes, neighbour wakening. It only does this sometimes, and I know i should take it back to get it sorted, but then when i get close to calling, yep, no noise!! With recent experience of Henry's glasgow, i am waiting till it is so loud it is soooo obvious, they have to do something! Does anyone have any official feedback from Skoda about this, perhaps more recently than a few years ago? Thanks

  5. The vrs has nicer wheels. :-) also i have red vrs, my neighbour, taxi driver, bought a red octavia! They sit beside each other!
  6. I hear what you saying, but i think 36k 4 years far too early for a timing belt change.
  7. All During my 4 year, 40k services, it was recommended to get front and rear brakes done. I knew about fronts needing done, as was recommended last year, glad they made it another year! But rears was a bit of a suprise. they said could last another few thousand, but i got done all at once 1) is it a bit early for rear brakes needing done at 36k miles? 2) New front disks, pads, rear disks pads and labour etc, cost 500. is that a decent price?? Just looking for thoughts Ta ps cam belt timing was also recommended due to its schedule, but as this plus air pump would have taken total bill well over 1k, i getting it done in 6 months. sure that be ok?
  8. Dont buy any Xtra Load tyres, ruins the ride totally in my experence
  9. They dont seem to be XL which is in my opinion better, wish i had seen them when i got mine!
  10. I had a very similar problem, in that i tried to originally find conti sport contacts original. I couldnt find them, so went with Falkens on the back. I then ended up with vredesteins Ultracs on the front, as had a puncture and needed new ones asap at decent price. Cant fault them for looks, grip or wear so far, my only warning is if you get Xtra Load tyres, i find that it makes the ride pretty awful. Some people prefer it for the turn in, but personally the ride aint as good as the contis. Not sure if that helps!
  11. ps the car onlyhas 35k, although the timing belt is for 40k or 4 years, could it wait till its 5th birthday which would be about 45k miles??
  12. thought about splitting it up, but the brakes were recommended as needing done at the kast service, ie a year ago!
  13. Hi I am due a 4 year, 40k service (have it on annual servicing) I have been quoted £274 service £275 for timing belt which needs done at 4 yr intervals i also need new brakes and pads on front which are £265, and when i add in MOT at £54 This totals ..:censored:... .....£ 868  Is this a decent quote as it seems a bit pricey to me! Its at a dealer. Also, should the water pump be done at the same time?? Any thoughts appreciated.
  14. spiders for me, when clean i still think they look the best option on any octy.
  15. I manage to get about 350 ish, although on one run to work i averaged 44mpg!!!! (1.8 vrs) admittedly i was early and office was not opened, so i sat at 55mpg seeing what i could get!
  16. I have a review of the vrs in pdf format, but its too big to post here or send via PM. if you have an email address can send it to you.
  17. Can i be rude and ask how much this was?
  18. is it recommended to get the cambelt and waterpump doen at 4 year, 40k service? or anything else? anyone?
  19. Hi All I am just looking to see how much you would expect to pay for a 40K service. I am on Annual servicing, and in a few months, will be 4 year/40k miles, will have done about 36k by then. Am i right in thinking i need 40k service brake fluid change cam belt water pump at this point? Oh also, at last service i was told would need new brakes at next service for sure, if not before as still on originals, so i need to add them in too! Help! Thanks
  20. I have falkens and vredestein ultracs on mine, both very good value for money, can get for 70-80 a corner from prestige tyres, east kilbride. G
