  1. go faster, then wind speed will prevent water jets going high enough to hit the roof!!!!
  2. Hi Jim I too was selling a fiesta and looking at the focus ST 2 months ago, but similar to you, the running costs were the big no no for me. i could have stretched, but no point if couldnt afford to run it. I have a friend who bought one and he swears he not getting more than 15mpg. he now thinking of selling after just 8 months. i ended up going for 55 plate mk1 octavia vRS, which is same price as new basic focus. in general, the reliability was key for me, (the fiesta hadnt had a fault, ever) bear in mind the guys in here are experts, and will generally log on to find cures, so many people wont as have no need. pound for pound, after extensive search, fun factor, reliability, the Oct vRS won hands down for me. but that just my tuppence worth!! plus it fun driving a car that you know can kick but of many cars, i call it understated smugness!! :-) G
  3. Only person who it matters to is yourself, and you like it so was worthwhile. good value too i might add, very ingenious, and thats impressive.
  4. cheers guys. always thought old zetec alloys on previous car were clean until i thought i would do it properly. when the RS alloys are clean, they look very smart. i know what you mean about number of spokes though, maybe 3 spoke alloys are the way to go!! (joking!)
  5. Apolgies you need to tilt your head to the side to make out the photo, either that or i am going up a very extreme slope!!
  6. try autoglym aqua wax, suits me as means can wax without drying, and brings it up very nicely indeed.
  7. just spent 2 hours cleaning my alloys. 1) washed with normal turtle wax wax/wash shampoo 2) then combination of AG wheel cleaner for most of it, and tiny touches of wonder wheels for the ingrained bits. (i know WW goes against many people, but so superior to the AG, and did use in very small touches) 3)then rinse quickly and 4) 2 coats of AG wheel seal. not sure if these the best products but they came up superb! photo on phone, not the best quality (never guess first time doing any sort of detailing whatsoever!!) test is now how long do they stay like this and how easy are they to keep clean!! that the tester!!
  8. id be more afraid of the ghostly image haunting your car!!
  9. Hi 10k would get you a 55 plate vRS, benefit of that is you get 18 months warranty still on it. ie i just bought one! and so far so good!
  10. i have flashed (lights!) a few other people coming the opposite way on a long trip up north, but think the guy infront of me in the mondeo wanted to batter me after that trip! so i passed him.....!!
  11. car i bought had 3 massive chip marks on the bottom spoiler at the front, someone had then tried to do a diy (badly) job on it. got the dealer to strip it down respray whole bumper/spoilers and re attach so it looks like new now. will see how many miles i go until new chip marks start appearing....
  12. oops, apologies, meant to say thanks for the help about the power wash! so, lifeshine, good or bad?!
  13. no, its 18 months old, person before me paid for it, why?! whats wrong with it?!
  14. Hi all I have just bought a red octavia, and it has the autoglym lifeshine package on it. any ideas what is the best thing to do to keep it clean, it came immaculate from the garage i must add (ingrams, ayr) (apart from a smell of ex smoker from the air con!!):thumbdwn: anywho, i was thinking of not polishing (to preserve lifeshine), but waxing, bought autoglym aquawax. prob is i live in block of flats, so doing it with too many buckets/hose aint a real option, there is a jet wash nearby with bay once rinsed, should i avoid the jet wash to do an initial rinse? (even on just spray, and doing from a distance to be careful)?? any thoughts be appreciated. Thanks.
  15. Hi all, just wanting to say hello and thanks, i joined about a month ago, as was thinking about buying a vRS. listening to you guys convinced me it was the right thing to do! picked up an 18 month Octavia mk1 55 plate red last week, and so far so good. fingers crossed to many years of motoring!! will be in touch!! G
