  1. I thought many years ago, the govt. subsidised the production of diesel fuel, as it was a cleaner fuel etc, and now that there are huge amount of diesel cars on the road, the subsidy has now been removed to make them more money...
  2. Im running 215/40R17's Little bit wider, looks a litle better and seems to fill the arches better too Only downside is the tyres are a little more expensive than 205's...
  3. I get all my bits from TPS, through my work. Usually works out a few quid more than 3rd party bits...
  4. I will be doing this to my standard lights, probably just after christmas, when we have some cash again! Done it to a few of my old cars
  5. I have done a set on my own car PM me if you want any help/advice
  6. Lovely place. Shame about the state of the roads, and from the looks of it, the weather too
  7. TBH, on a modern diesel car, mileage really means nothing, as long as it has been serviced every 10k (or as manufacturer advises) Just picked up a Nov 04/54 plate Golf GT TDi, FSH, just serviced + cambelt was just done, with loads of toys for £6k. Had 80k on the clock though. Similar approved VW's were between £9-11k Anyway, mileage shouldnt put you off, as long as it has been looked after
  8. Planning on a remap in the near future. Will only be to about 170bhp as its still on the standard clutch. Just like to keep the intake temps down
  9. Would it, and associated pipework fit? Quite fancy a FMIC, but over £600 is a bit much IMO. Can get a new cooler cheap enough... Just a thought
  10. I fitted my own Easy enough once you have done it once Had to get it programmed though. Got it done from a guy off ScottishVAG in Kirkaldy
  11. Seeing as there are 4 of us (and all local-ish) i think ill have a bash first, as soon as I have been MOT'd/paid
  12. I done this to my last car, albeit, a cavalier. Always fancied doing mine, but would like to do it on a spare pair of lights so just incase it all goes tits up, my car isnt off the road...
  13. Same as the PD130 then I will be changing it to 10k intervals, same as my Fabia. Will it still need 507 oil, as the manual states 506. Dont like 20k without an oil change :thumbdwn: Bought it anyway. Lovely car Just about to have a nosey through the Octy 2 forum, see what i have let myself in for
  14. Im assuming this is the engine fitted to the Octy 11's. Looking at a 54 plate Golf GT TDi with the 140 engine. Anything to look out for with them? Are they pretty much the same as the 130's maintenace wise? IT has FVWSH, albeit on long life intervals, and Cambelt was changed 3k ago. Its being sold with a new MOT, had 2 new rear wishbone bushes and rear wheel bearing for it Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong section
  15. The pads rub the paint off :P My bad. My discs had swelled up from the outer edge and looked **** :thumbdwn:
  16. I painted my disks with silver heatproof paint, and fitted them about 3 months ago. No rust
  17. Why is that? Always wondered about it And also, why should a premium increase after having a non-fault accident, even after gaining another years NCD?
  18. Iv had mine for almost 18 months, and a little over 18k miles. Had the leaky door syndrome, worn console bushes and a random power steering warning light (caused by a poor battery) Which, IMO, is pretty good for a 5 year old car
  19. I aligned mine as a standard vRS. Might put the camber out a touch though...
