Changing alloy size
Has anyone on this forum ever increased the size of their alloys? I've got the Octavia Mkiii 1.6TDi SE and I just feel the alloys would look better a bit bigger. I know this means changing the tyres and such like. What I am wanting to know is... Is it a hassle? Or is it not that much hassle?

Day time running lights
I thought we went over this before? You can buy just the led yes, but by leaving the unit in its current state it risks just happening again and other components in the headlamp risk getting damaged as well.

SD card issue.
Usually this is caused when a file on the SD card is either not supported by the hardware or if a file on the SD card was corrupted. Did you check the files before wiping them?

I just hope you didn't get the car on a HP... purely because that opens up the sauce jokes all over again. Anyway, hope you get it sorted. Keep us posted.

Do you have any external devices connected? (mobile, sat nav, dashcam). If so it could be these creating the noise through your car. Could be as someone else has mentioned you have audio queues on your navigation for POIs set to on when not using navigation on screen. This is easily switched off in your navigation settings. You don't have a speed limit warning set? This is done on your trip computer but usually displays a message alongside the warning tone. Finally and again as someone has mentioned it could be a batter related warning but I would have thought this would cause a dash light to come on if serious.

Month Old Cambelt noise ??
Your best starting place is to see if the belt needs adjusting. As it was only done recently I'd like to think whoever done it would do the adjustment for you for free as it means they didn't do a perfect job of the initial fitting. Your other options after this: 1) Get the belt changed again as it could be a ever so slightly imperfect cambelt. Whilst this may cause you no other issues it is going to always give you that noise. Again if you have only had it done recently and you have a good relationship with the person who done it - it could be a worthy discussion saying "appreciate you've fitted my new cambelt. However, it is making this noise? Could it be a dodgy belt?" - they may take ownership if it is and not charge you for a new one. 2) If the noise is something you can live with then potentially just leave it, it may end up costing you to get it either adjusted or replaced and you could then just end up with the same issue. Unfortunately, cars will make noises and start making noises. Where there is an immediate change in your driving experience you definitely never leave it, as soon as you notice a change in your driving experience you get it looked at. Some noises - regardless of change in performance - you will know they sound serious and will want to get these looked at straight away. 3) Treat yourself to a new car. I mean this light hearted and as a bit of a light joke to finish on... But I kid you not... I have a mate who bought a new car because his car was in his words "falling apart"... It had to have the break pads and discs done... Just your standard wear and tear but nope, this was a calamity and warranted buying a new car. Hope you either get it resolved or if not learn to comfortably live with it .

Month Old Cambelt noise ??
Ticking/ clicking noises during a cold start is pretty normal. This cold start noise is caused by a carbon buildup on the crown of the piston and roof of the combustion chamber, causing physical contact and a relatively sharp click at the very top of the piston travel. Both noises tend to disappear as the engine warms up. You say you had it done around a month ago, has this noise only just started or was it since you had the change done? It could be that the tension needs adjusting but this would tend to be pretty consistent.

Dealer servicing costs
Domino's has to be the most overrated and over priced of any takeaway. A kebab shop pizza is still half the price of Dominos and you get burger sauce (win win). As for shop bought pizza there are plenty of options that come close for me at near 10% the price of Dominos. What I'm basically saying is you are paying for the name, not the product or service. Much like the dealership service over a local service. The burger sauce has no place in this metaphor... I just bloody love the stuff.

OK, I'll have a look and see what I can. Pigimpmobile

Dealer servicing costs
The whole debate here about dealer servicing vs local servicing just makes me think of one thing... Domino's Pizza vs Supermarket Pizza... Massive price difference, very little difference to what you are actually paying for.

Considering an Octavia...
What is it about the interior ambience lighting that you are so sold on? I'll see what I can dig up from the world wide web for you. Does it need to come as standard? Interior ambience lighting can be fitted to any car. Can make a car look like a drug dealer/ chav mobile if not tasteful in my opinion
