Kodiaq sportline vs Octavia scout.
I have the MY21 brochure that included the Scout before it was withdrawn, if you're interested. In terms of ownership and driving, perhaps if you highlight the features of the Octavia Scout that you like and think enhance towing, and are hoping to find out if they're the same on a Kodiaq Scout, or people's opinions of them, then you might get more feedback.

Kodiaq sportline vs Octavia scout.
Pretty sure @silver1011 has one, or had one, but recall it was the TSI. They might have some thoughts. What in particular are you interested in about that spec?

Knob Off - DSG
See attached. I've included the Superb section that is before the Kodiaq steps since it has a few piccies that may help. Key points seem to be Avoid depressing the lock button during removal and replacement - if you do there is a procedure to reset it You need a new clamp to replace the one that is removed, along with accompanying tool. Good luck D4B805232CF-Gearbox 0D9-DSG-extracted.pdf

Any Kodiaq options to avoid (or look for)?
For MY21, models were : SE, SE Drive, SEL, Sportline, L&K. I am not familiar with an Executive model. Only L&K had leather as standard. I can send you the MY21 brochure if you're interested. I have an MY21 1.5 TSI SEL. Not too familiar with possible Diesel or 4 x 4 issues (I have neither), but I believe there are concerns about the longevity of gearboxes, the Start button is a weak spot (I had mine replaced). Some will deter you from a sunroof, I think it adds greatly to the sense of space in the car and not had a problem with it. Virtual Cockpit I think is a nice to have and can, according to some sources, help with resale value. Rear view camera is an essential IMO. I avoided any of the safety/convenience systems, that did mean I lost the mirror USB-C socket from my order (MY21 Build Week 48 changes) and so am not using my dashcam. I could wire it in but am fearful of warranty issues. If a simply connected dashcam is important to you, or you have particular need for the mirror USB-C socket I believe there are certain pre-requisite features/packages required before it became an option which you may not want but will have to accept. I specified Virtual Pedal (boot) because it was relatively cheap and whilst I considered it would be a bit of a gimmick I thought it might be useful. I use it much more than I thought I would, not least to minimise boot switch wear and tear (had an issue on a different make/model). No spare as standard, but spacesaver available as an option on most combinations (not 5 seaters or L&K I think). EDIT : from brochure - Temporary steel space saver spare wheel with tool kit and jack. 215/65 R17 not available in combination with 7 seats or variable boot floor : Option on SE Temporary steel space saver spare wheel with tool kit and jack. 145/85 R18 not available in combination with variable boot floor on SE (5 seat) : Option on everything but L&K

Which MIB unit is fitted to my Kodiaq?
My understanding, the MIB version refers to the Infotainment system version, and is the same across all Infotainment hardware for a particular model/release/year. The software release version can change as new models or facelifts are produced. For example, my MY21 Kodiaq has Columbus with MIB3, but Amundsen & Bolero hardware for that same MY would also be MIB3, just not all having the same features and functionality. There are guides on the web of how to determine your MIB version. I may be wrong on the specifics, in which case hopefully someone will be along to correct me.

How to update a MIB3 ?
Just saw this reply whilst I was preparing a reply to another map thread. You may have figured this out by now, but the text should include to the effect of 'until the map upload has completed'. A quick Google search suggests this can take upto a week, perhaps more. You need to check the map/navigation software version to know when it's uploaded apparently.

Anyone managed to install map updates on their Columbus system?
Where did you source the update from? The update portal I found from Google has instruction links on both the main page and the page after I enter my VIN - https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ - in the 'It is easy - MAP UPDATE MANUAL' section. As to which MIB, for 2019 I would guess MIB2 but I don't know for sure, but search online for 'skoda how to tell what mib i have' and there are methods to determine what MIB version you have.

Kodiaq II 2024 Esim module
My understanding, on a Mk1 MIB3 model at least, is that the eSim is integrated, and used for paid for Connect services, as well as the included eCall services. It is not, AFAIK, available to be viewed or configured in a menu. There are concerns (there's a thread on the Mk1 forum) that because some eSims operate on the 2G/3G networks that they'll be made redundant with the sunsetting. Hopefully the MkII uses a later mobile technology.

Which service plan or not?
In my case it wouldn't be. My All-In is £900 My last two services were O&I with extended scope, and O&I, totalling £667. I paid £98 for the brake fluid change, which is not included in the service plan. So even adding the cost of two MOTs would mean I'd overpay. However as a package, including the MOTs, breakdown cover and warranty, I consider it to be very good value for money. My one issue with the plan though is that due to anniversary dates I have to pay for one MOT myself, unless I visit the service centre twice, and it's sufficiently far to be an inconvenience.

Seat covers
Skoda don't produce front seat covers, not practical with the in seat airbags, at least that's what they told me. I had planned to carry some old generic ones but once I discovered it might impact my safety I chose not to. I so rarely used them I have forgotten about the idea. Not sure about the situation with the rear seats though.

Intermittent Window/tailgate convenience
Happening across both keys would point me towards a car issue, rather than a key issue, so a software or receiver problem. When it happens, have you immediately tried the other key, if so does this always behave the same way (ie always works, never works) ? That for me might rule a key issue on or out. Do you have KESSY? If so when it happens, have you immediately tried to lock/unlock with KESSY and does this work. Same question with Virtual Pedal if you have it? I'd be trying to rule out an intermittent key transmission problem, but even with above tests the interval between when it breaks and when it works might be very brief (software glitch, or failing but intermittent electrical connection), and thus inconclusive.

Skoda connect App
On main screen go to 'Profile', last (fifth) icon to the right on the bottom menu bar. Then 'Language', sixth option under 'General' which is the first bold heading on that page for the section with drop down LOVs. The fact that you mention DOB and mobile number though makes me wonder if we're talking about the same app. I don't see either in my version EDIT: sorry read your second post, seems you've been where I'm telling you to go, so not sure why you can't change it.

Kodiaq 1.5
I feared I would regret buying the 1.5 (MY21 SEL 1.5 Auto) vs the 2.0 and yes at times the engine feels laboured, particularly in 1st & 2nd, but I have got used to it, drive slightly differently, and saved myself several thousand. I would in fact sum up the engine as good enough, it won't thrill but once it gets going it's smooth with a reasonable punch if needed. I do about 80% town and country and 20% 60+mph and currently at 32.5mpg. I don't drive aggressively, but also don't watch the pennies. As to whether it's worth your cash, only you can decide. A test drive or two are in order. See if you can get an extended one and live with it for a day. I did all my regular journeys to see how it compared to the current car at the time.

Heater fan removal
Are you talking about the 'fresh air blower motor'? This is covered in the Heating & Air Conditioning workshop manual, which doesn't seem to be included in the download set available on this forum. You'll also need the General Body Repairs, Interior manual for the glovebox removal. If you don't have these I can share the entire collection (link via PM), let me know.

Key replacement
Best value, don't know. I think I'd want peace of mind of dealer supplied, but don't think they're cheap, which seems mercenary given the 3rd key option for a new car is far less. For MIB3 at least, key must be coded to the car by a dealer AFAIK, and all keys must be present, otherwise any non-present key is 'locked out'.

Keys and personalization
Wing mirrors, yes

Keys and personalization
With my Mk1 MIB3 I disabled the second profile since I found the same problems as you; with the introduction of profiles (the switch to non-hard coded key assignment in MIB3), profiles did not switch reliably, and the switch could take ages, and in some cases effectively hung. The only reason for different profiles was seat and mirror positions, and we just use the hard memory buttons on the driver's seat for this.

DSG oil change at 4 year service, 20k miles?
I'd be interested in opinions on whether I should have the DSG oil changed at the upcoming (end of Feb) 4 year service, but only 20k miles. The official schedule for DQ381 seems to be at 80k miles. An oldish service cost illustration lists DSG oil change at 4 year/40k miles, and then 8 year/80k miles. Is there any age related deterioration of the oil, or should I only consider an oil change at 40k miles at the earliest? Model: MY21 1.5 DSG TSI Thanks

Kodiaq 2018 Availability of Body Panels
Back in Sept 2023, so probably not a good guide to the current situation, I had two doors and and wing replaced (don't ask!). I don't recall how long it took, but I wasn't surprised by the time, nor was there a long delay before the vehicle was booked in, or any report of a delay in obtaining parts.

Service Plan - All in ... good value?
A correction to the handbook. From what I recall of the conversation with the service manager, they literally cross out, or change a few words. I've not looked to see what they actually did. I have an All-In package and in my opinion it's decent value for money and spreads the cost. The only negative I found was that restrictions on when the policy can be activated, following the manufacturer warranty, meant that I couldn't align the date of MOT with the service, which either means two visits to the service centre, or I forego one of the included MOTs and get it done locally.
